at the beginning the Steve reminded me of myself when i was 10, and by the end i was reminded of how i am now. i would go onto creative super flats and destroy villages for fun, but now i keep them in dark man-made caves underground and make them trade me items, and if possible i would kill then reanimate them for better deals. ah, how a game for 10 and up can turn R rated so quickly

I think adding a game mechanic to the villagers that makes them want to seek vengance for pillaging and killing them would be neat. It'll probably never get done but it would be neat.
Making them become depressed if they never get to go outside would be good

iirc, it was stated by Mojang themselves that they’re a very pacifistic civilization, so even if you blow them up the only real effect is going to always be just prices going up sadly, as cool of a concept as a “bounty” on you would be
maybe someday a mod like that would happen and since moders have a better ideas about minecraft than mojang that day isnt probably too far and thats to say if a mod like that hasnt already been made
I realized after a few minutes of watching that the reason he doesn't take all the villagers is because when you're trying to make a villager farm or something, you'd only take the villagers that have good deals, so when Steve stares at the protag for a moment, he's just checking if he's worth anything, that's why he doesnt attack or anything... i was wondering for a second why he would just leave some of the villagers alive, considering it looks like senseless murder, but its actually pretty logical within its own like. minecraft logic lmao
He is a nitwit. All the survivors are nitwit villagers. They are unable to work, so they are useless. Steve only took the workers, and maybe kill some nitwits just for fun, and got bored with the last one.
Minecraft técnico be like:

Remember, he’s holding onto the emerald in the beginning that might’ve been his trading
I like the fact that there were a handful of survivors, it would have made utterly no sense to slaughter everyone and leave one man to tell the tale unless you really wanna be a legend but the fact our protagonist wasn't a sole survivor gives the impression that he isn't someone special he's just a survivor of a tragedy like the rest.
Green ones can't trade at all, also the protagonist was green. Also to the comment itself, he wasn't the only survivor.

It was likely that Steve thought that he was the only survivor, since Steve saw the villager and didn't kill him. No other villagers were on sight
I assumed Steve was saving him for later. If there is a limit to the number of villagers he can capture then he may need to make several trips. The way Steve looked him up and down was like he was assessing his value. If he had no value he would have been killed. A useless villager is better off dead because it instills fear in the others making them easier to capture.

The fact that steve only left the nitwit "useless" villagers is a nice touch and kidnapped the worker ones
Notice how the surviors are pretty much all green shirt villagers. They can't be given jobs, which is why Steve looked over the protagonist and kept on walking, he also probably just killed a few for fun.
I love how scary Steve looks especially compared to a villager, he looks like something pretending to be a villager to trick them

Watching this makes me feel slightly better of myself because I built a massive village near my base and protect it every night. And I make graves for those villagers who sadly died.

You are surprisingly humane, most of us enslave them and infect them then cure them to abuse their trade’s coding.
I'm currently in a bedrock modded (addoned?) World and I do the same, but I arm up my villagers which kinda makes it more immersive. Even started giving them names recently (originally started because I needed to differentiate them but now I just do it for roleplay aspect)

Seeing the Steve having many trapped villagers to Trade with. I think I know why he destroyed the village instead of just capturing them. The villagers were full of the green villagers. And if you play Minecraft you will know that the villagers in green can't get a occupation making them unable to Trade. The Steve was probably disappointed seeing that they were all green. So he had no remorse and killed them all because they had no use to him.
I think Nitwit Villagers can give birth too. Though I did see steve kill a brown villager, which can be employed.
Plus remember if Steve is on a council there's a cap on the # of villagers allowed in the world. So Steve might be trying to free up enough slots for his trading hall.

This is awesome, the subtle things like the villager getting scared by the golem but after watching the first one it's like the world is about to end, but then it's just a golem.
Also it's very fun to see Steve depicted as almost like a mad god, because they pretty much are...

Steve is by far the strongest video game character ever. He can literally carry billions of tons of materials in his pockets.
His back is The Strongest.
But he himself is pretty weak.
He isn't very strong and he isn't very tanky either.
Only way to "permamentry" incrase his damage and survivability it to equip armor and weapons.
He also can starve to death very fast (but in price of almost unlimited stamina).
He also cant hold his breath for too long.
Ability to heal from just eating is very usefull, but it isnt going to be that usefull in active combat.
Steve is bottom tier in list pointing power levels of video game player characters.
He is even weaker from CoD player character, because in CoD you can quicly regenerate in few seconds without any resources needed.

The reason why Steve left him alive was because his sword and bow was about to break and didn’t want to risk breaking them.
Considering the next episode. I think steve quite literally "just wants to watch the world burn" he doesnt need to kill him, but hes also useless because the villager cant trade. And in the next episode he kills a disobedient villagers obedient brother instead, to prove a point. So nah hes a just a really sadistic dude

These animations remind me of a war movie Come and See but only with a more Minecraft version (If you've ever seen the movie or half of it) As you can see (5:41) you can see that Steve just looks at him and all he sees is a Souless person with no spark of humanity what so ever and then Steve just walks away after he does so the villager kneels into despair lost of spirit and happiness all together as he sees his friends and family murdered and houses burn to the ground as his life just ended in a blink of an eye. From Come and See movie its shown as the same way when after the Nazi solider take a picture of the boy he then kneels with despair and lost of spirit and happiness. There is no joy there is no life but there is a faint shadow of zero life in him mentally all he sees is death and destruction. Great job on this animation it really captures the image of what one has went through respect for you magnificent artist :)

One key detail i noticed while watching this is that instead of Steve killing the villager that witnessed everything, he knew that the villager would crumble under mental stress and decided to leave him like that instead of finishing him, because sometimes mental pain can be far worse than physical pain.
He knew what he did, and he wanted the survivors to live with this grief in their minds until the day they pass away.

Firstly,I can commend myself for actually flying to a village instead of making a trading hall.The villagers are much happier,and I get to play with the kids - they come together for several rounds of tag every few days,plus they're safe from zombies.
Secondly - I covered the subtitles with my hand for a fraction of the video,and although I didn't decipher the lines word-for-word,I understood the gist of what the villagers were saying.Some damn good voice acting right there.
Love the villager noises, “heee heeehhh he huuuuh haha huh” and the golem going “urrr urrrr mmmm mmm rrrr
I was building a village one day, and during the night I was planting crops when zombies attacked, it was on hard mode, so when I came back, they were all gone. I felt so bad.

I never do this to villages... not when I'm playing, alone. Instead, I find them.... build them up. Fortify the walls, name each person, give them a lovely house... They might be useless (especially pre-1.14) but I care about them!
