oh...
And I thought it was the English noble Lord Duckington, Earl of Cover-upon-hill.
Nathan hale nothing you said about bunker hill is correct at all. What actually happened is first off the other hill was called Breeds hill not reeds hill. Secondly, they intentionally set up defenses on breeds hill for strategic positioning as it would be easier to defend than bunker hill. It worked in fact, as the British regulars attempted to climb the hill two times and both times were pushed back by the militia. The third time they were successful only due to the continental running out of ammo and having to retreat. Technically a British victory but they suffered 1000 casualties to the continental 400 casualties. That’s what actually happened. The strategy was correctly placed.

"not historically accurate" isn't an accurate assessment. _The Patriot_ is outright fiction, revisionist, and very offensive to this Native American who knows *real* American history.
True, but is a great war film!
Still a fantastic film none the less
The last battle is a match up of 2 battles, where a numerically inferior Continental Army did use a similar tactic to this and baited the British and counter charged and won the battle, the battle right after they lost, then they won after that, and then came the one at the end of the film where they are surrounded by land and sea.

When Tavington had his spyglass on them at first it's really funny because they're literally at bayonet range and they're just standing there reloading politely for each other.
I found that absolutely hilarious.
I think they were a bit farther away (maybe about 60-70 yards), but I did think the same thing at first
It's called perspective numb nuts

The most dangerous enemy is the one who is very motivated, especially if their FREEDOM is at stake.
Jaymelyn cardoza did the Vietnamese teach you that
nope,i am a filipino and our ancestor have fought the same battle, that was a fight for independence against the colonizers.I realised then that Freedom is worth dying for.it was only my opinion.
Everyone should look into general O'hara. He fought and lost to two major leaders in his life. He surrendered to Washington, then in the years of the 1793 in the seige of Toulon he was captured by Major Suchet (one of napoleons officers and later a famous marshal of the napoleonic wars) and surrendered to Napoleon.

Right now at this very moment

It's pretty funny as an Australian that 2 of the main stars of this film are Australians when this whole film about America's liberation from Britain, literally called "Patriot"
The most anti-British movie I have ever heard of.
What is not protrayed is that Europe built America. Europeans created the entire legal and monetary structure. The revolutonaries wanted to steal the assets from Europe and that was the motive. After the war, the US currency was worthless. It was only due to world wars in Europe that gave the USA today's prominance.
@@trevorleeoakley7434 I don't know if that is entirely accurate, but I know that money is a big part of the motive for the war. A most unfortunate situation.
@bat wayne Yeah, like the one about Bose. Bose actually got a whole lot of Indians killed because he fought for the Japanese, yet they treat him like a saint, bastard that he was.
The red coats were a shower of pricks. We had them at that time and during the 1800s and endured a famine Thanks to the brits for letting us Irish starve.
@@72mossy The redcoats fought the Americans, Spanish, and French. They were awesome.
2000 was a great year for movies
This movie is a fictional version of the Revolutionary war
I haven't seen a movie yet that isn't fictional.
Really? I thought it was real footage
the actual Battle of Cowpens is more dramatic, with the American commander displaying original tactics, compared to either side up to that point
look at those chad fucking Continental infantry staying behind to charge right into the redcoats at 0:51. Actual fucking badassery.
Even though this might not be historically accurate i from south texas residence of Hispanic decent im proud to be an AMERICAN and consider myself a patriot

Chris Cooper is the most underrated role in the movie.
You seen him in The Muppets (2011)?
He was great in the Bourne movie.
All you can do is have tears in your eyes and say: ‘Muurica
The war was won (and paid) by France, but who cares.

Translation: stand still right in front of these British troops as they point their guns at you! Prepare to get shot!"
Lmao seriously. The tactics were so bad in the olden days but then again those guns were so bad compared to my ar15.
Also officers were not targeted before regular infantry. Dress your ranks is stating that.

Nope they were built the same. Just lived shittier lives.
That is how they fought. Clear up to WWI, where trench warfare is almost the same thing, but with machine guns, and one side in a trench.

so true haha
why is this so relatable?
1:57 how were a bunch of militia able to reload their muskets while in a dead sprint retreat? I don't even think a fully trained crack infantrymen can do that
think they were doing it while on the ground as the army was firing.
@@BringDHouseDown While I can respect that line of thought trying to load a muzzle loading musket on the ground is actually harder than doing it standing up. If you think about it a fully trained line infantrymen could, at best, load and fire 3 rounds a minute and that is fully trained. We are talking about militiamen that are untrained, unexperienced, and probably scared out of their minds
