I like when hobbyists share ways to keep it simple and real. But I have to ask Ron....A brine shrimp video on RUclips without a $50 brine shrimp hatchery or eggs from a green can? How can this be? LOL. No need to de-chlorinate if you do use tap water. Chlorine will gas off before the eggs hatch. And actually its believed the chlorine partially decapsulates the cysts so the hatch rate improves. In fact, bleach is used by many hatcheries to completely decapsulate the eggs. Plenty of info about this on the interweb. Floating in the tanks to maintain warmer temps is smart. I hatch BBS at ambient fish room temp (71-73). Excellent hatch rate every time. Just takes a little longer as he mentioned. 24 hours on average. He's also 100% right that (no airstone) coarse bubbles work better. Cool idea to have the eggs and salt combined to make it easy. Thanks for sharing. Always nice to see other methods that work.
Thank you so much for this! I just started breeding axolotls and I have micro worms, daphnia, and black worms. I wanted to add bbs to the mix without having to sacrifice more space for a complex hatchery. This will work excellent!
Great video Thankyou. Just a quick question please . Do you keep the light on at night time too? Or do you turn it off and they still hatch ok? Many thanks
When I hatch brine shrimp, the air fild with salt particuls makes a mess all around my hatchery because it has no lid. It makes me wonder if your method can also send salt particuls out of the bottle and into the tank.
It seems like an easy fix if you keep the bottle lid and make a hole big enough in it for both the rigid airline tubing to go through and some air to escape.
Question. If I plan on keeping the live shrimp in the fridge do I need to change or add water? How would I know the brine are no longer good to be fed?
Hey I need some help,I have aws deal brine shrimp,I’ve put them in a 2L tub with air pump on all the time,I put in a heater inside the tub and put the heater on for 30 degrees,It’s been 24 hours and the bbs didn’t hatch any ideas why?
“Easiest” bro.. you ever heard of adding salt to your Filtered water and literally dumping some tiny portion of brineshrimp and wait for it to hatch? You dont need pump nor light not even a heater…
Thank you for the kind information, i'm sure going to use this method to siphon them out. its so easy that i didnt even think about it.
Nice and simple! Just what I was looking for for a few small fish! Thanks!
Great video. Thanks for keeping it simple. Coincidentally I've been looking at the Canadian Aqua Farm. Nice to see the person behind the scenes.
Thanks!

Interesting Tom, I did t know about not dechlorinating. I’ve been using this method for about a year. It works better than my old pickle jar method 😁
You remind me a lot of an old channel I enjoyed called Tim Aquatics, But all their videos got deleted sadly.
@@FridayFishFacts Hey now!!! I use $3 pickle jars from Sam’s Club. I like my pickle jars.
🍏 ACO 💚
i like this idea of a product where the salt and eggs are mixed together!

You’re welcome! Glad it helped
@@FridayFishFacts just wanted to follow up and let you know it worked perfectly. Thanks so much again!!
He makes it look so easy! nice info! awesome video!
He does, doesn’t he
@@FridayFishFacts Yes he does
@@FridayFishFacts Really does make it look easy. Huh?
@@californiasmountains4687 he sure does
Rick you’re awesome. A1 product. From me this is a five star product!!!!’
I agree!
Awesome video!! Great info! I used a 2 litre pop bottle that I cut in half with a bubbler to do mine!
Awesome

U got my vote!
Great video!
Indeed
Great idea . I'm not sure if I'll try knowing my luck the bottle would tip over and I would have salt water in my fresh water tank
Hi Ron... excellent video!!!
Thank you!
Great video Thankyou. Just a quick question please . Do you keep the light on at night time too? Or do you turn it off and they still hatch ok? Many thanks
they can hatch or live just fine with a normal night-day cycle
I loved this so much I now have 2
nice, how to separate the empty shells or unhatched ones when you want to feed
Cool video mate! Keep it up! 😉👍
Thanks I really appreciate it
Nice and easy. 🧞♀️
Hard for some people though.
How much would that bag last???? Im going to order some to try it out.... Great video 👍👍👍👍👍
Depends on how often you hatch. Lasted me a long time
@@FridayFishFacts im going to be doing a hatch a day for up coming betta fry.
What about to have brine shrimp in marine fish tank to be sustainable live food for the fish ?
How quick can you ship to Ontario?
When I hatch brine shrimp, the air fild with salt particuls makes a mess all around my hatchery because it has no lid. It makes me wonder if your method can also send salt particuls out of the bottle and into the tank.
I hadn’t thought about that. The tank I float my bottle in has guppies, so a little salt shouldn’t hurt them
It seems like an easy fix if you keep the bottle lid and make a hole big enough in it for both the rigid airline tubing to go through and some air to escape.
Does the aquarium light need to stay on for the entire time of the hatch? I have my light on a timer for 8 hours in my tank.
No it doesn’t. I do the same as you
Question. If I plan on keeping the live shrimp in the fridge do I need to change or add water? How would I know the brine are no longer good to be fed?
You don’t need to change or add water. I would make sure they were all in my tank in 48 hours

Hmm I would double check my eggs/salt/water ratio. And I would check to see how old the brine shrimp eggs are
@@FridayFishFacts I’ve added the correct amount as it said on the packet and still nothing
I eat them raw and use them like sesame seeds. Delicious!
I thought chlorine didn't matter when hatching? Many vids and what I read say chlorine even helps hatch faster? I am gonna.try my first batch 😎
💕👍
👍
I just float min in a tupperware dish in a tank, dont even put in an air tube, they hatch fine
That’s awesome
The air stone just speeds things along especially after they hatch
So basically it’s a add water mix
Exactly
@@FridayFishFacts do you have it make saltwater separately or is it mixed with the eggs?

Why are you wearing a mask just to work with brine shrimp?
In Canada right now, it is required to wear a mask in a business building due to covid
@@FridayFishFacts Sorry, I thought this was a home.
I have a easier one
