    I just wanted to say, because of Cliffe Knechtle and his son Stuart Knechtle, I was able to journey back to God. I was lost for a while, but God placed Cliffe in my path, I didn't ask for these videos, until they continued to pop up until eventually I started listening. I love everytime he debates as he states when he doesn't know. And not knowing is ok. It's better than painting a facade or a false doctrine. Without getting to lengthy. Just Thank You Cliffe Knechtle!! Thank You Stuart Knechtle!!

    I had actually went through a divorce at the age of 23. I was with my ex since I was 15 years old and once we gotten married, he became physically and verbally abusive, almost became daily. Even to one point he threatened my life, and I lived in fear daily. I tried to become a christian and live right, got baptized, I would listen to preaching on TV and he would come into the room to blaspheme whatever they preached about. I wasn’t allowed to spend time with family, etc. I would pray that God would change him, I would communicate of how he’s treating me was taking a toll on me, no apology and no change, and then it just clicked; God gave us free will and God would change someone IF they truly want to be changed. I divorced him after almost 4 years of abuse and I was judged very badly by family members. Was told that divorce and remarriage is “a sin until death”. I had turned my back against God, not because I wanted too but because I was made to believe that God would never forgive me for leaving someone who abused me. I started doing things that I never did before, I was very depressed and wasn’t right mentally. It was just a year ago that I surrendered to God and asked him to forgive me, and TRULY mean it. I thank God that he allowed me to run into Cliffe’s videos one day because he changed my whole perspective on God, even though I knew God and grew up in church, I see things differently now. And I truly believe that God forgave me.

    I have; for a long time, "struggled with the concept" of "Forgive AND Forget"; and now choose to be a LOT MORE DISCERNING in my choices of "Birds of a Feather"... Forgiving a rattle snake for biting me is rather easy... Biting is WHAT RATTLE SNAKES DO, by DESIGN! ... All the SAME; I have AVOIDED picking up rattle snakes, for very nearly 60× years, now!!! (I'll be turning 66× years old, in a couple of months; if I keep breathing Earth Air that long!)

    Why do we need the church? For consistent values...? I get the idea, but I don't think it's the right mindset. The foisting of the church on people that are skeptical is the wrong way of going about it. "Hey, if it works for you, be part of a church. If it doesn't work for you, don't." That's what I look for. I am a teacher that certainly "preaches" to be kind to everyone, but I don't think religion reinforces that the way secular kindness does. I volunteer, teach, donate both money and time to causes and people, and I don't think about God at all in any of it. I just do it because I want to. That's the message that I find missing from the church.

      @@wesleyjakesta4095 So good acts aren’t good unless we do them in the name of a deity? Why does a foundation of goodness matter if the received kindness is the same?

    • @Gorpmeat
      @Gorpmeat 7 месяцев назад +1

      That wasn’t what Cliffe was saying about the church, but allow me to lay out some counterpoints to your argument.
      What happens when you don’t want to be kind anymore? Without the objective standard of God why is someone who wants to be selfish any worse than you who wants to be kind? It’s just their choice after all.
      Aside from this philosophical point there is also the questions of your real motives: are you sometimes kind because you just want people to like you, or perhaps because it makes you feel good? This isn’t a judgement I have many selfish motives myself I’m simply trying to outline the need for God in our lives, and Jesus Christ offers us the chance to know him.

    • @blaketrent8548
      @blaketrent8548 7 месяцев назад

      @@Gorpmeat I do not think you avoid any of those pitfalls any easier with a “foundation of god” than you do without it. I understand it’s comforting to know that those around us believe what we believe. I get that as an underlying motivation for proselytizing, but I have found the church to be exclusionary and often filled with piety without merit.
      I’m supportive of others believing, but my kind actions alone without any expressed religious affiliations have left others questioning their relationship to religion. The foundation is pretty weak when kindness for the sake of kindness is confounding.

    • @wesleyjakesta4095
      @wesleyjakesta4095 7 месяцев назад

      @@blaketrent8548 not in a deity, in a altogether lovely man who shows the truth. The church is a blessed place for friendships and praise. Also people speaking to you from God.
      The foundation is quite firm, considering who the person of Jesus is. Your kindness is the love and kindness Jesus has.
