    Welcome to the intriguing world of gold and silver investing! Have you ever found yourself captivated by the shimmering allure of these precious metals? If so, you're not alone. Join me on a journey as we explore the multifaceted reasons behind why we buy gold and silver.
    For me, stacking silver and gold began as a hobby, a fascination with the tangible beauty of these timeless assets. As I started delving deeper into the world of precious metals, my motivations evolved. What started as a hobby soon transformed into a means of financial security and wealth preservation.
    Over time, my outlook on gold and silver investing has shifted. Initially driven by the desire to acquire shiny coins and bars, I began to appreciate the historical significance and intrinsic value of these metals. Gold and silver have stood the test of time as reliable stores of wealth, unaffected by the fluctuations of fiat currencies and economic uncertainties.
    But it's not just about financial security. Investing in gold and silver has also become a way for me to diversify my portfolio and protect against inflation. In a world of constant change and uncertainty, having a tangible asset like gold and silver provides a sense of stability and peace of mind.
    Moreover, there's a certain satisfaction that comes with holding physical gold and silver in your hands. It's a tangible reminder of the value of hard work and prudent financial planning. Each coin or bar tells a story, whether it's a piece of history or a symbol of hope for the future.
    As I continue to stack silver and gold, my reasons for doing so have become deeply personal. It's not just about financial gain, but also about preserving wealth for future generations and leaving a legacy of stability and security.
    So, why do we buy gold and silver? The reasons are as diverse as the individuals who invest in them. Whether it's for financial security, portfolio diversification, or simply the joy of owning something beautiful and valuable, gold and silver hold a special place in the hearts and portfolios of many.
    Join me as we delve into the fascinating world of gold and silver investing, and discover why these precious metals continue to captivate us generation after generation. Don't miss out on uncovering the timeless allure of gold and silver! 🌟 #Gold #Silver #Investing #PreciousMetals

    It's always horrible to lose money but I do think the coins in this series might regain some value in the future. This will not be the last coin series to be based on the British monarchy. Individual coins from this series may compliment future coin sets. The Tudor coins might do well once the Tudor Beasts are complete for example. The House of Windsor coins would fit in with any series celebrating King Charles III and Queen Elizabeth II. I think there is still hope for the series in terms of making a profit.

    every time I see silver priced in British Pounds I can't help but remember a British Pound once was equal to an actual pound of sterling silver

      A british pound was once a gold soverign. They're still legal tender as £1 coins.

      It certainly shows how much inflation there is in the GBP. A lot of people don’t realise why it’s called the pound sterling.
      454g x 0.925 / 31.1g = 13.5 XAG
      7.98g x 0.9167 / 31.1g = 0.235 XAU
      XAG / XAU = 57 ratio 🤔

    • @ah5836

      @@martinsmith3354 Pound is a unit of weight, dollar is not. With British currency "1 pound sterling" is no longer equal to "1 pound sterling" anymore. While yes it is true that "1 dollar" is no longer equal to "0.048 ounces gold" it just doesn't have that same impact saying it out loud.

    • @BlueBirds-fs1id
      @BlueBirds-fs1id 3 месяца назад

      @@ah5836 yep, it’s was never called the 0.048 Gold Dollar. Not really the same ring to it. And originally I understand its roots are based on the Spanish dollar, with the $ symbol coming from that coins too.

    Ive always said stacking silver is like the hook a duck of investing, there is a prize every time! Whatever you buy has a value and will give you something back, some win and some lose. Spend your money on a packet of cigarettes the return is zero, spend on a starbucks coffee every morning again zero return, a ticket to football....zero, silly shoes...nope, video games..unlikely, food, bumcream the list goes on. But timing is the secret weapon, it was the wrong time to sell these proof coins, straight after the news of the series discontinued and uncertanty to where silvers price will go etc, but RM have set their prices too high of late meaning their more recent coins have less chance of giving a good return at this time.

    • @fatheadcat9958
      @fatheadcat9958 3 месяца назад

      Collecting the "right" video games is a sure fire investment. I've been doing so since 1991 and they have performed better than any of my other investments. I still invest in them, but they HAVE to be the right choices. The same with coins, go for the pre 1915 large silver coins. Doesn't matter which country so long as they are pre 1915, silver and large....and of course an excellent grade. Modern coins are not worth anything more than their weight.

  • @fatheadcat9958
    @fatheadcat9958 3 месяца назад

    The Royal Mint just pump out huge numbers of commemorative coins every year. Total waste if you want to invest. You should put your money into high grade pre 1915 silver coins instead if you want to invest. Avoid graded modern coins, there are thousands and they all hit top grades, so that market is saturated and hence of no investment value. Aim at large pre 1915 silver coins.

    I didn't think your losses were that bad on the 1oz proofs. It's the 2oz variety that'll clock you really hard and you'd highlighted that. I'll only pick up the odd commemorative silver proof from the Royal Mint these days for something to personally enjoy as I know it's unlikely to appreciate.

    I've never bought from a mint directly. Prices way too high. Used mostly ebay along with Atkinsons and Chards who occasionally have a deal on preowned. Have also bought from Backyard Bullion and Silver Trader.
    I have several of the British Monarchs including a 10oz George I (£380) and a 5oz Henry VII (£200), both from ebay. Fully boxed with certs.
    I will hang on to them as I'm happy with the price I paid.
    I will keep a lookout for your next ebay listings for the 2oz Monarchs.

    I used to do alot of ebay selling, my commission could be anything between £100 - £200 per month.
    Then after a disputed transaction, I gave it a break, this culminating in more free lIstings with flat £1 commission fees.
    Since then, I've only sold on ebay, when offered similar selling discounts.

    I guess that I was lucky to pick up ten 2oz. Queen's Beasts of various years mintage in the past few years in the mid to upper $60 range. Local coin shop guy was aware that I developed an interest in those coins and accordingly would put them aside for me.

    thats a bummer my man but thats the game. im one of those people who arent investing in numismatic (gov issued or any other). im just buying the cheapest rounds and bars I can get a hold of. just hedging against inflation. I never worry about spot. I just buy when I can (unless we get a 40 dollar hit again ha ha,) then im selling!! hang in there.

    Random story. I ordered 10x 1oz silver off eBay. the seller told me he would combine shipping for the lot of coins, to place the order and he would refund me the additional shipping cost. I paid $20 shipping x 10 coins. I paid $200 dollars for shipping. The buyer shipped all coins in 1 Box and I never heard from him again. I called eBay and they told me there was nothing they could do because I agreed to pay the shipping. Told me to leave Negative feedback. What a headache.

      As a seller myself I always refund overpaid postage. You should have opened return request not as described ( might be slightly dishonest however only way getting money back if seller does not accept returns )

      I pretty much don’t buy from eBay because I don’t like getting scammed by sellers. I got screwed by a seller, portcityartifacts. My fault. This seller had less than 50 feedbacks and one was negative. Portcityartifacts used eBay’s system to screw me out of a discount and then sent me the wrong coin. When I complained, he said I could return it at my expense. The seller was able to flip my demands for him to pay return shipping and send me the coin I purchased or give me a refund, into I was trying to steal the coin. Portcityartifacts was also able to get my negative feedback removed. At the time I was a buyer with 340+ positive and no negative reviews. eBay is totally rigged against buyers and cooks the reviews.

    Silver is loose loose as far as I am concerned. I have never made money on silver coins or bullion. I stick to gold only. Have always done well on gold.
