95% of my stack is easy to sell bullion. Between the sf, ebay and stackers social I'm confident I could exit quickly if I needed to. The small amount of jewellery and 925 commemorative coins I have wouldn't take to long either
Good video!
This is why I’m keeping my stack simple.
Sure, it’s great getting some amazing pieces to look at, but at the end of the day I really don’t want the Full Time Job of trying to find THE Right Buyer when I’m Old and Frail and ready to liquidate.
Nor, the issue of a Tax Bill!

At Any Time, I know exactly what I’ve got, exactly how much it’s worth on the top of my head + it’s Super Liquid.
All without any work.

All best!
There's a saying that says, "Never say never", so while I don't plan on selling any of my stack, I can't say it won't ever happen. Things do happen. The unexpected can happen at any time when you need money. As a result, I stack a variety of things but most of my stack is in generic rounds and bars. In the event that I had to sell some, the generics would be my choice since they hold no sentimental value to me. Items I paid higher premiums for because I liked them would be a last resort. Jewelry I never consider part of my stack and would never sell.
As a fellow stacker, I have 3 rules:
1. Mainly Gold, no VAT.
2. Highest gold content.
3. Face value coins wich CGT exempt!
My rules are not based on excitement, just profit.
Get ready for the crap show in July, gold will fly and I have to say silver too😮
if its not easy to sell, its not even allowed to be part of my "stack". if i dont want to ever sell it, it is also no counted in the "stack". Also traded most my silver for gold at 73:1 lately as lots of silver is also annoying. time to get real people
Another great video on liquidity options, beautiful bracelet and Mrs Backyard Bullion will love it...Personally I am all in on full gold sovereigns and 1oz gold Britannias as UK resident no CGT and relatively easy to sell if needs be..Thankfully never had to sell any and just added one more sovereign from you yesterday😊😊😊well happy😊😊...
Cash at hand first, Emergency cash, cash in bank, cash ISAs, Premium bonds then Precious metals
I agree, that bracelet is beautiful. It's not always about the money.
Happy "milestone" birthday to Mrs. BYB!
Silver 1ozt ingot No.8 has arrived! You aren't 'stingy' with your silver, 1.0755ozt. Thank-you.
Have you done a video on owning gold/silver vs watches? A lot of people see watches as investments (don’t get me wrong, there are a few, IF you can get hold of one) but gold and silver is a holding of worth/long term investment that no one knows about for security where as a watch we wear for everyone to see? Therefore having a watch you potentially get more out of owning, potentially? Good video reference the liquidity of the jewellery vs coins and bars. Hence my question.
I had a strategy of stacking rare coins, which in itself is pretty good, specially since I have an increasingly large percentage of the circulation driving the price up but the down side is, once you sell it, its probably gone forever🤔 and thats like 80% of my portfolio so im now at a point where I want to ad some libertads, kangaroos, elephants, Krugers etc to diversify a bit
I have recently been in a situation where I needed some cash. Luckily my LCS has very competitive buyback prices. I have found that 10 oz silver bars and 1 oz gold bars tend to have the lowest spread between their buy and sell prices. Also, if I were to need to sell something like a poured piece (of which I have a few as a small percentage of my stack), I would only get spot price, so I’ll definitely be holding those pieces indefinitely.
My stack is tiny currently, so I'm not really in any position....BUT! Mr BYB, you have some explaning to do! l now look at ruddy spoons for silver content, cheap 925 jewerly, and stock up on that, pre 1920 silver coins..... so what's going on there ??? Hmm, hmm?
I love the journey, though, and mainly down to you :)
Only things I stack are Mexican libertads and American silver eagles , both sell pretty easy
Good to keep track of the percentage of easy to sell bullion Vs proof coins, and don't go too crazy with the proofs.
If you got vouches then the forums is super easy to sell but if don't I like don't, it's a nightmare selling privately. Ebay and auction fees are horrific. London the only place to get anywhere near spot otherwise for me personally.
In Deutschland gibt's für Privatverkäufer keine ebay-Verkaufsgebühren mehr ! Schon seit ca. einem Jahr nicht mehr !
Yep the garnet for me as well .
Not a bad choice. I think I’d go with the Peridot.
I'd forgotten about that sword. I believe that's one of mine. It came with a sheath that I never got to pour right. What a blast from the past. Thanks for bringing out the swords. The other one is one of mine of mine as well. I'll see if I can find some correspondence from when we made the deal. I just recently got back into pouring, a bit rusty. Always a fan BTW.
I believe it might be one of yours my friend! I love them, they have been on my desk these last 7 years.
I'm all about the liquidity but I don't think being able to sell a small amount at a time is that important. If you need to break into your stack for an expense of less than a sov or 1/4, or even an ounce really, IMO you didn't have enough of a cash buffer and are doing it wrong. Sovs is probably the "best" answer for stacking in the UK, but I still prefer modern Brits...
Like 88🎉 Definitely, sov are the most liquid and are my favorite 😊 Great video BYB
Me too😊😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi I just commented on another of your videos regarding an 1886 soverign that I've inherited - It was attached via 9 carat gold mount to a 9 carat gold Double Albert pocket watch chain. I have literally no idea where to go to get a valuation I could trust. I took the chain and the attached soverign to two local jewelry shops, one of which made out like he would do me a favour by buying them for ₤800 and another who had a buyer that was willing to offer ₤1000 but I felt that was a little low (although I do appreciate they may be wanting to sell them on at a profit). Do you have any advice on where I could go to get either a valuation with a view to selling them.
Love the channel. I'm not a collector but watching your content has certainly helped in my understanding of collecting.
Sorry, I have no idea how to value that. BYB
@@BackyardBullion Of course. Sorry, I wasn't expecting a valuation. Are there any forums you could reccomend I go and look at? I just want to make sure I do the right thing with it 😄
The silver forum would be your best bet
I do not believe in generational wealth. I worked my butt off for everything I have, my kids were going to have to do the same damn thing. Ideally I will sell my last coin the week before I leave this world. Thanks as always for the video Mr byb
I agree they need to work hard and smart for their money , but I will help them out with a deposit for a property when the time comes
Oh yes , bet Mrs BYB watches this one, especially if you tell her not to.
Eye of a needle
Yes to 90%. The rest are inheritance from my dad and a couple of art pieces. Those Germania Mint Runes with their glow in the dark paint have to be the ugliest silver on the market.
Sold my silver 2 years bk bought crypto made thousands
If your wife loves it, it worth buying. Edit: Ah ha going to the wife, good, it's beautiful. You could estimate the carat weight of each of those stones by shape and size, convert to grams and subtract from total weight to give the gold content.

What do you mean? I was told ad nauseam by an artist the silver bust they made of me from my bullion collection would be an easy sell.
What do you mean? Please explain!
He meant it as a joke!😂😂
@@stephenyoung8429 It was a silly joke my guy :) No harm no foul
