    Does it matter that the carbon pellets don't fill the cells in the filter? I would think there couldn't be any gaps for the air to flow through them properly? I hope I'm wrong.

    Coway does make some decent air purifiers for the money. They don't actually perform at a HEPA level in the real world (just like 98% of the 'HEPA' air purifiers) and they're not good for ultrafine particles (.1 to .003 Microns) either but for larger particles they are decent for the money and better than most options out there, IMO.

    Would a basic fan paired with a larger CFM air purifier improve room coverage? Maybe simply moving the air would help larger units access more air to take advantage of its stronger processing ability. Multiple units means more noise and more maintenance that I would like to avoid.

    You illogically stated that the larger CFM units do not clear air quicker than the smaller CFM units in a smaller room and concluded that those larger CFM units therefore cannot work in a larger room. That does not follow of course. I suggest that you do your tests in a larger room before making that claim. That's only common sense.
    Obviously if the larger unit draws in more air because it is passing air faster through the unit then it would work better in the larger room than the smaller unit. In a small room, by the time the smaller unit has run its small volume of air through in its first pass, the larger unit has already completed that volume of air and would be running it through in a second pass. If the filtering is good, one shouldn't need more than a few pass through to clear the air. And so the air quality results would be comparable for both in a small room. The smaller unit most likely cannot draw enough air to even attempt what the larger unit can do in the larger room.
    But whether that is the case or not, you have not shown that you even ran any test in a larger room to justify your claim about the larger room. Run the test and THEN make your claim about the matter. Your inference from the smaller room results does not have any bearing on your claim.

    • @consumer-analysis
      @consumer-analysis  4 года назад +2

      I did test extensively in a larger room. All of my claims about large room performance are based on that testing.
      I am not simply making inferences based on only testing in a smaller room. For example, see my 150 sq. ft. room (smaller room) test results at the top of this review:
      www.consumeranalysis.com/guides/air-purifiers/winix-5500-2-review/
      vs this one
      www.consumeranalysis.com/guides/air-purifiers/coway-airmega-review/
      In a small room - the higher CFM unit essentially cleans the air twice as fast. The same was not the case in my large room testing.
      For more detailed analysis of air purifiers for large rooms see the guide I wrote on this topic here: www.consumeranalysis.com/guides/air-purifiers/large-room-air-purifier/

    • @blake121666
      @blake121666 4 года назад +1

      @@consumer-analysis You state contradictory things in your videos. You do not state any actual test results data in any of these videos or links. Prove to yourself that the relationship is not linear w.r.t. CFM (or CADR) and room volume by doing actual tests of the time it takes to reduce the pollutants in different sized rooms. If it turns out that, like you contend in another video, you ONLY need two 250-CFM units to clear the same volume in the same time as one 500-CFM unit, that will show up in actual test data of sensors at various points in the large room.
      I do not accept this contention of yours without you showing that data. I believe that it would take about 4 250-CFM units to reduce the pollutants that one 500-CFM would do over the whole larger volume. Show the particle counts over time within octants of a rectangular room filled with smoke to prove this contention of yours.

    FIRST OFF HAVE YOU EVER BOTHERED TO TRY A COUPLE OF WINIX OR COWAY 250 CFM UNITS IN THE SAME ROOM TO SEE IF THEY WOULD DO A BETTER JOB THAN ONE ALONE?
    You keep talking about just by multiple units and put it in the same room. It does better but I haven't seen you do the experiment? Maybe it wouldn't make any difference either If they're in the same room?
    Or maybe the room is already clean enough and it can't be cleaned anymore with any unit no matter how many put in the room you can only get a room so clean.
    The only way to to test these big units is to put them in a room that they claim it can clean! DO YOU HAVE A 1500 FT² ROOM? THAT WOULD BE THE ONLY VALID WAY TO MAKE YOUR POINT!! Then you would have to test both units in there for 1 hour and see what they both do..
    Have you ever challenged them why they make those claims.. MAYBE THEY ACTUALLY HAVE A 1500 FT² ROOM!!
    I think your claims are very limited because of the size of the rooms you're doing stuff in..
    No offense but they obviously have much better equipment than you have, bigger rooms and have a much higher budget..
    They claim the 400 can clean
    See below.
    2 air changes/hr.* 1,560 sq. ft. (145 sq. m)
    4 air changes/hr.** 780 sq. ft. (72 sq. m)
    If you claim that you are right and they are wrong don't you think you have the obligation to tell them your findings and find out how they're doing their testing?
    Also when it comes to the filtration are you testing all types of gases? How good at these units are getting rid of gases and how good is one HEPA filter from the other.
    There's a lot more than just CFM That's all you guys care about.. .
    And then you're also contradiction yourself
    And one breath you're always talking about CFMs and then you're saying just because something has a higher CFM it doesn't mean it's better 😂🤣😂🤣
    Very hypocritical.
    It just doesn't make sense how you keep talking about and all of your videos how CFM makes a difference The higher the better. And then you're saying in another video the 400 series does a CFM of almost 430 but in tests it doesn't do better? It just doesn't make any sense.

  • @muzikmon2267
    @muzikmon2267 3 года назад

    AND YOUR LOGIC IS FLAWED!!
    You're saying that higher CFMs make the pollution go down in bigger rooms. But yet you're saying the higher CFMs with the bigger units made no difference. And they have 2 sets of filters.
    But you're saying adding two separate machines with two separate filters obviously adding double the CFMs will now change everything..
    THAT IS SO HYPOCRITICAL AND DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!
    And I don't think you've even done that experiment to back up your statements.. I don't think you have a 1,500-ft room to even back up what you have to say..
    As I've stated maybe there's no difference because the room that you're using can only be cleaned so much so it doesn't matter how big of a unit you have in there.
    You're only valid if you have a 1500-ft-room or even a 1500 ft apartment in your run them both for an hour on different days or something on their highest speeds using the highest CFMs and then seeing what you get at the end..
    That is the only valid way..
    My guess is if you did that the one with the higher CFM would probably clean more and work better.
    But you cannot do that experiment in a room that can only be cleaned so much..
    And like I said is hypocritical statements being made all over the place..
    You're always mentioning higher CFMs matter all over your videos!! Then you're staying the higher CFMs don't make a difference if you're buying these units. But you're saying if you add more CFM's from a separate unit that's going to make a difference? Do you see how unlogical you sound? 😂🤣😂
    Logic says if you have a bigger unit that has double the CFMs it should clean a room double the size. Logic says if you buy two units that equal the same CFMs as the bigger unit it will also clean exactly like the bigger unit the same square footage.. I guess the only difference would probably be the two separate units will probably cost less money.. THAT MAKES SENSE..
    BUT SAYING THE BIGGER UNIT WITH MORE CFMS MAKES NO DIFFERENCE THAT HAS DOUBLE FILTERS IS JUST ILLOGICAL.. YOU'RE DOING SOMETHING WRONG !! Like I said the only thing I can think of is that your room is too small to give the big units a chance to do what it's supposed to do.. It can only clean that room so well no matter what size you put in it.. in other words the room is too small..
