Chikungunya is a viral disease spread by the bite of an Aedes mosquito. It is more common in tropical areas. Nowadays it has become very common in India. Many patients who come to our OPD when investigated are found to have chikungunya and post-chikungunya arthritis.
Chikungunya arthritis needs proper evaluation. A plethora of tests can be done to confirm the diagnosis. There are many medications available to treat the condition. In this video, we have demonstrated the same. Post-viral joint pain and arthritis have become very common conditions nowadays.
The medications which can be used are NSAIDS, Low doses of steroids, and some DMARDs like Methotrexate and Sulfasalazine. This has become very common in India. It is seen in almost all states of India, including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Delhi too.
