+Kai werring true I should have referenced my point of 2v2 to youth players learning to interchange pressure and cover roles. These are obviously college players they make it look easy. The discipline and speed in the movement is paramount. I use this same drill I break it down to 2v2 for young players to teach the discipline. Then the progression from there once communication and discipline. Everyone has their style that's why I love the game so many ways to teach it to reach the same result.

This is all good but when in a game will the three attackers not move and penetrate after passing the ball, to be honest this is hardly game realistic but it does help the defenders understand at a basic level how to press the ball, something they should have picked up at U10. I would look to have the attackers play realistically and try to get across the end line behind the defenders after between 4-8 passes to catch the defenders off gaurd and really test them as in a game that is what will happen so they need to be prepared for that.

Excellent drill. If you are looking at using this I'm sure this is for the video the way he set the excerise up. However given the numbers I counted 14 get two groups of 5 going to maximize the session and not having so many players standing around. You can even also do the same drill 2v2 and all players are playing.

You can definitely have two groups going -- but remember that the emphasis is on defensive shifting/not getting split/and not diving in. As long as both coaches are on the same page you can get multiple groups going. You can not execute this drill properly in a 2v2 though, you need higher numbers to work on shifting and covering.... does not work the same. If you want to increase, just increase the numbers to a 5v3 as seen on the next section. Great video, and solid players.
