Thanks guys I’ve been searching the webs for comparisons of dcd794 and the 800 to fimd out which I go with. And seems 800 is it. They should have a chart of drills with date released features who predecessors belongs to who. Cause damn it’s tough tryna figure out how to not waste money on a drill. Specially when you have several you wna add valie to collection not collect backwards lol well maybe a complete collection of them all would be cool who am I kidding hell na lol
I'm an automotive detailer at a dealership. This will be perfect for drill brushing upholstery and installing license plates. I have small hands and carpal tunnel so the light weight should help reduce stress and fatigue on my right hand.
Seems that you received a good one. There are a couple other RUclipsrs that had gearbox failures on this drill. My new 794 also had a gearbox failure right out of the gate. DeWalt sent me a replacement 794 and it seems to be performing normally.
I'm new to power tools. What is the liquid solution he put on the surface of the metal before drilling the holes? I presume he uses that to cool down the metal while drilling. Thanks in advance.
Dude it is plastic sleeve over a METAL chuck it keeps the weight down and stops marring on fine surfaces, I've been using them since Jesus played quarter back for Jerusalem and NEVER had a problem.
The dcd800 is the XR version just as short and has what I consider their good chuck (the metal one). There’s definetly a difference in that chuck and the chuck on this drills holding power
The 800 is nice, in canada its about $180. 00 - $199.00, i bought the 794 as a kit for about $65.00 canadien, that like $47.00us, i can live with the plastic over thecluck....
Dewalt tools are good if you can get them cheaper than big red get dewalt Milwaukee is is charging too much making there tools in China. Milwaukee fan boys seem to over look
So many attempts at showing the drills weakness??? High is for screws ONLY! you have second gear for the larger stuff! Showing the drill underpowered in first gear that many times is suspect!
We don't think it's underpowered. We think it's a great fit for a compact drill, but we also want people to know where it stands. They shouldn't be buying this if they're doing plumbing rough-in work. Thanks for watching.

The 800 is where it’s at. Perfect balance of compact size and power. Excellent ergonomics too.
I've just ordered one ,after watching a heap of reviews, I am very impressed with the power and weight.
The DCD800 and the DCD805 are the best drills I’ve ever owned!
I love my dcd800 also. The light is amazing love the 20min run time option.

DCF850 impact driver is the best for drill brushes, not a drill.
Home Depot has this exact drill on sale for $99, this video just made my decision to buy so much easier.

I have the Atomic 708 which has the same specs as this drill ,I use it 99 percent of the time at work, it has plenty of power .
How does this compare to the DCD800?
Love this drill for small projects or putting things together around the house but I def prefer the xr line

What the difference between the dcd794 and the dcd794b ?
794b means tool only. The letters in DeWalt power tools indicate what is in the package

Nope, it’s just a bit longer to accommodate for the mechanism. Workshop Addict did a vid and showed the difference in size
