I love how you had to activate the planet holograms in Planetary Order-it's little details like that which makes Battle Network one of the best Mega Man series IMO.

I was expecting Lan and Megaman to stop an actual meteor wondering how they'd do it and thinking it would probably be a creative plot but it turned anti-climatic so fast!

I don't think Duo was a particularly bad guy; he seemed to have more of an attitude like "Well, sorry guys, I gotta kill you now...hm, okay, you're alive, that's cute; let's see what you can do." Reminds me more than a little of Q in the first and last Star Trek TNG episodes. I definitely think he had the ability to appreciate humanity at their best, even if he was fully prepared to exterminate us for our worst. (Do we ever find out who sent him, incidentally? As far as I know the answer is no.)

The popular opinion seems to be that 4 was the worst. But I'm a bit confused as to why. Could somebody explain the flaws in this game that the others do better.
+TheZalor Gladly. 4 had a good story, but the main reason why it receives such a negative opinion is because, from a completionist perspective, the game was tedious and boring. The game had to be completed 3 times to fully fill out the chip library, because Capcom decided it was a great idea to put the higher ranked viruses in a consecutive playthrough of the game. While that might not seem like such a big deal. The sub stories for the tournaments throughout the game. A perfect example is if you have the unfortunate pleasure to meet Tetsu in the 1st or 2nd tournament, where you have to navigate all through the Park Areas without being spotted by any of the Heal Navis. Another example is Videoman's segment where your controls are mapped to different buttons, once again, navigating through the Park Areas. There are other examples, but these two are very prominent. I ran out of space, but I have more points if you would like to hear them.

This is similar to my reactions to the Tournament Battle theme and the Navi Customizer music; all three of these have ended up being far and away my favorites in the game, even as I've grown utterly sick of themes that I initially thought to be a significant improvement on their versions in earlier games (eg Home Town or Incident Occurrence). Given that we're discussing music that plays in a continuous loop while the player immerses themselves in a flow state in order to succeed in-game, I'd say that having the kind of longevity that makes you grow to like it, rather than gradually coming to loathe it, is something a composer really ought to strive for when working in the VG medium.
Or hit BA like a madman. I remember making plans on mm paper when I first got to this stage. Sold the plans to some kid. The AB mash makes this so much easier.

Plot is a mess, and all three playthroughs are the same, stupid side quests, no build up, final boss a cop out, just so much.
