I hear what he's saying about the way that technology and social media have influenced tattooing and made it much more accessible. But I think he neglects the fact that in many ways it pushes tattooing, people are more likely to research their artists I think for one. And there is definitely still a wide range of skill and talent in the industry, new styles being birthed, people being inspired. And also the ease of having a variety of equipment and ink allows artists to push their art further.
Personally, if it wasn't for Instagram I probably wouldn't be getting tattooed because I am very picky and it took me years to find an artist whose work I love so much that I'm getting a bodysuit done. If it wasn't for social media I wouldn't have been able to plan my dream tattoos to be so unique.
I have also tattooed myself, which is something I would've never done if I hadn't been able to learn safety or have discovered the style of ornamental tattoos that I love.
Whilst there are downfalls to these developments, I think the benefits overshadow this immensely. Traditional tatts are cool but there's so much more out there now.

Thank you for the comment! I think you and I are in similar sentiment. I see Social Media as a great tool for the Tattoo World. My biggest goal with this video and the channel is to get stories and perspectives from all kinds of Artists. Some you may agree with and others you might not. But that's the beauty in it. Getting a different perspective or maybe even a better understanding and why people think the way they do.
I wish you the best on your tattoo journey and once again thank you for the comment!

Its absolutely a double edged sword like anything else. It will undoubtedly help to progress the art but it also removes the gatekeepers who are trash and feed off of visitors with a spontaneous walk in. Now it pushes artists to get better or get left behind.
The bad side is, if youre a shitter and horde your information, youre gonna have a hard time.

I knew he was gonna be honest and genuine as soon as he said that Traditional Apprenticeship's are not needed and a thing of the past.
Doesnt mean there isnt benefit to being an apprenticeship. In fact it gives you inside scoops and things you will never learn or practice until youre in the shop.
But the cultist behavior of the tattoo industry has always been such a turn off and bummer to me.
Id love to be an apprentice but I dont have the free time outside of work to really dedicate myself. But im still considering it tbh. I know I could make it work if i really wanted it.

It is the younger generation that think being insta-famous is more important. Lots of the new gen tattooers can't draw to save their lives. Tattooing by numbers but I guess the result is the point.
