At the end of 70's to beginning 80's in China, according to premier Deng Xiaoping' s "No care white or black, if you can get rich you are a Glory", and "Self-interest, Self-market" s theories: the smugglers bring as huge quantities of fake watches from Hong Kong smuggle to south China, and this kind of business have created these smugglers became the billionaires quickly, also they no need pay any tax and employees. • @Bruintjebeer6

yerovi86 first off all the living standard in the US is much higher than in China. In the US you can’t even afford enough food from the wages they pay in China.
With an minimum wage off 7.25 dollar you live under the poverty line.
I live in The Netherlands and for the last hundred years we have unions for every kind off work you can think off.
The employers have there own unions. The unions off the employees and the unions off the employers are negotiating every couple off years the wages and the employment conditions together with benefits. The government is functioning as an mediator. Workers are a lot better off then in the US. We are a rich country with a lot off trade and plenty enough work. Unlike the US we did not dwell in the past. So when manufacturing jobs disappeared and the coal mines closed the government schooled the workers that lost there job and actively looked for alternative work. We never expected it will come back and we never ask for it. We are very down to earth and right away thought, it is what it is let’s move on.
It is not the unions or that workers wants to much. It is an attitude problem. Holding on to the past and not wanting to change. A lot off Americans want to go back to the fifties and sixties. Does days are gone.

GM ....why do Americans need more than one car to a family? We see 2 car garages are now passé. Any upper class family can have up to 4 car garages. The ultra rich have multiple cars in multiple locations to go with their multiple homes. I think good honest working and middle class perhaps have doubts about this kind of extravagancy. If GM folded, a good person could find other work. The coal miners who lost jobs in mines are now being trained as bee keepers. Yep!
When America becomes humble in a sincerely honest way, we can be inventive as hell. But we can't ever survive eating nuts & bolts and rubber tires.

GM had 2400 workers with a average pay of $25 a hour 5 days a week for 50 weeks ( if you count the other days for vacation as non paid) is around $120,000,000 a year on payroll.
The average company of this size pays around $1,106 on cleaning supplies and toilet paper / soap a month so that's $13,272
GM also provided them Health Care coverage the average coverage plan over the course of a year the company would pay $2,000 so that's $4,800,000
Thats $124,813,272 just to have employees ... you would still have to pay any suppliers/ vendors, electricity, water, trash, sewer... so just to hire that many employees and give them Health Care coverage and somewhere to shit and wash their hands , three weeks off a year and pay them for 8 hour shift..

how is the "Chinese way" and worse than the "American way"? American companies simply moved the factories to China precisely to be able to do the same things. With some factories coming back, three things are clear: 1) wages are lower, benefits less, 2) more automation (fewer employees) and 3) longer/more work. So, where is the difference? America has always been complicit in this trend -- American CEOs and boards decided to move factories to China. American politicians passed the laws and set policies to encourage globalization and free trade so such factories in China could supply consumption in the US. China/Chinese did not put a gun to our heads! And the average American is not even voting to protect themselves -- low turnout or voting for the establishment (ie corporate) democrat or republican. no wonder things are the way they are!

Because the US wealth was control by the few the results where horrific. The few thought only about there own personal wealth with complete disregard for the wealth of all Americans. China on the other hand has its wealth controlled by the state, the wealthy of China are control by the government who has the it's base interest in the people. People from countries all over the world want to live in the USA(legally or not). Why the government of yours does not use the works of those peoples, like the mexicans, ensuring that these people will not be deported without guarantees and that you can get the factories out of China?People from countries all over the world want to live in the USA, because the government of yours does not use the labor force like the Mexicans, ensuring that these people will not be deported without guarantees and that you can get the factories out of China? not depriving it so much, because they no longer invest in the American continent (central and south america) which is better strategically?

China bosses try work in America is different than in China. China bosses should follow the working laws in the us. USA has overtime pay which china does not. America has workers comp, osha safety in working conditions, and other American comply working laws that china does not comply working in US. Many culture clashes. China companies don’t work in America. China companies represent communism, don’t ever work for Chinese owned companies. Chinese companies = communism. American companies = safety work environment, equal pay, ot pay, no culture clashes, no force work. America has pay holidays off, sick days, overtime pay to work on certain holidays, overtime automatic over 40 hours, which Chinese boss from china companies will not comply to. China bosses don’t comply with environment issues, they dispose chemical waste into sewer which is environmental issues. China try to pollute our water, air, and land like they did in their own country. America should ban china owned operations in America.

Well we can't eat nuts and bolts and rubber tires. The land is not only plentiful but fertile, so if ALL factories, especially slaughterhouses meat packing inhumane chicken, & pig factories close down, there could be a peaceful society for good people. Okay, if you are starving, go hunting, but in nature you won't find a forest strew with freshly butchered carcasses all laid out in a row. No, even carnivorous animals are vicious and will kill prey when they are HUNGRY.
why not re-think the causes of acute and chronic mental & physical distress ? Any good reason?

From this film producer and the comments from USA, I can see American people are good people, they understand Chinese people are good friends of American. In Chinese language America is ""美国""。""美国""means ""Beautiful Country"". It proves from Day One China thinks American are beautiful country with beautiful people. It proves from Day One Chinese has best impression of United States. 美国~is the only beautiful country in Chinese language. 99% of Chinese including Communist party members think American people have beautiful heart. We only have one earth, we should be a big family and live together harmony. That's the hope of every Chinese people including every Communist party member. We need peace to live. We are family.

When a factory is facing losses and cannot afford high wages, then the union organizes a strike and asks for a rise in wages. You can think about what the factory management will do, the factory can only choose to close down, what else can they do? Does the factory management go to the bank to lend money to the workers to raise high wages? Why does GM go bankrupt? Is it necessary for Chinese companies to repeat the same mistakes?

A month later lost her job. Well done!!!

also, the Chinese are coming from a very different starting place -- severe poverty. Many Chinese working today were once dirt poor or are aware of others Chinese that are still in poverty. That makes them more willing (not happy) to work harder and longer for less. But, this goes back to globalization -- free trade, etc. We did not compete well against the Japanese in the 80s, we are not against the Chinese the last couple of decades. Developed societies are more concerned with decent living than wages/career. Chinese are more concerned with putting food on the table.

The union should offer to buy the company and compete for product sales globally. Wages would then depend on profit!

What hell do you know about working mentality of American or non Asian. You need money to pay rent everything run on money. You know what Chinese should just work with no pay then tell me how you feel. American pull out and use 1970 act to bring back jobs in America we need them not them since they have different mentality
