It was clear that the performance was to make a statement and I need all the focus on me when I make a statement... You have to understand the the intent and once you do you'll understand how that was one of the best female rap performances ever in history. It's not just visual it's symbolic and inspirational. And the crowd went crazy from vms audience to the audience on social media all the way to the audience on the couch. Don't discredit a very legendary performance that you don't understand.

Those songs didn't need theatrics. LTTISY is an intimate song about her that's why it was just her on stage. It was giving vulnerable and sensual, period. Not every performance needs backup dancers to distract from the artist. The snippet was delivered like the real MC that she is. And, yes it was a perfect contrast to her 50th Hip Hop anniversary performance, she's a versatile artist and performer. She did her thing!
LTTISY is a B-side track, not a title track, that's why there's no MV. It's an album promo ahead of the release in 2 months.
Also, Adele just stands and sings for hours without sets or dancers but people will pay big bucks to see her in love. Let's not box Nicki in as one type of performer please.

Sometimes you can stand alone with just a mic and your talent and people will appreciate. She gave several different approaches in each song. Plus it was too much going on that night for more performances.
It's okay for people to be underwhelmed by just standing alone with a mic. It's not saying she isn't talented, but in comparison to her other performances this one fell flat. Even Mariah Carey has people carry her around the stage so she isn't just standing there. She could have given a bit more to make it more entertaining especially since it's a slower song. After watching several high energy performances this one broke that and was slower. So you would expect to see screen visuals, or plays on lighting, her moving around a bit more or having dancers to move for her. There were a lot of performers but most people tuned in for Nicki.

Boy bye. She ate that stage up by giving us face, body, vocals and raps. That is ALL we need from her. We don't need excessive lighting, pyro, dancing, etc. Just her.
But she is such a GOAT that she really honestly doesn’t need the dancers and all of that stuff, those things are for the girls that need to get famous… She made all of that possible for them, she been did that with Anaconda on VMA’s in 2014… she opened the door for things like Bongos to be possible on stage like that… She is a statement, She is Art, She is Grown!!

NICKI don't need all that extra stuff. Her rap game is so hard she can' take the crowd without all that. I was captivated just by seeing her stand there and concentrating on her music. She always is herself and I respect this the most about her 💯!!!!
Nicki didn’t need to do any extra stuff for LTISY. It was actually perfect. I don’t get ‘dancers and pyro’ I really get ‘stand in one spot and emote’.
