You make an interesting point, but usually when a bug gets fixed in the code, there can't then still be isolated incidents of the old bug live in the game. So any level that features said bug wouldn't be able to still exist in the old format after the new code is pushed live. Presumably.

as much as I love glitch levels in MM2 i can understand why Nintendo is banning them. A glitch can sometime use the hardware in an unintended way and can be harmful for the console. Maybe it can happen just in some exceptional cases but Nintendo want it to be as safe as possible.
@@GrandPOOBear I think they also try to avoid reboot/hang of the console. Try to imagine if a 12 year kid comes screaming at you because "mario freeze the console during this level!".

If I had to guess. Carl's level got deleted due to a certain "phallic" like symbol involving a pokey and 2 large snowballs.

The ship level has "fleet" in the name. I think each checkpoint represents the completion of one ship in the fleet.
