+Richards Daniel (KIWIMADNEZ) all for nothing haha. Hes an adrenaline junkie really, likes the rush of climbing and escaping from near death experiences
I bought Rise of the Tomb Raider the day it released and I beat it within a few days because I was so ecstatic to play it. It absolutely blew my mind in regards to how amazing this game turned out to be. As great as the reboot was when it came out in 2013 this title somehow turned out to be an even better game. Graphically the game looks stunning. The character models, the varied environments and the numerous set piece moments are very well done. The snowy and ancient vistas are a sight to behold. The voice acting is first class in its quality as is the soundtrack. Camilla Ludington's portrayal as Lara Croft in particular is very impressive. Supporting cast members do a solid job of delivering their lines as well. Explosions, gunfire and and the sound of crumbling buildings add to the excellent audio department. The story is very interesting and I really enjoyed the flashback cutscenes with Lara Croft and her dad which do a solid job of further fleshing out the narrative and plot. The fun combat is intact from the previous title which throws in new abilities such as, being able to swing from a rope, using poison arrows as well as the ability to craft grenades and Molotov Cocktails. Stealth is much more prevalent this time around which allows Lara Croft to drag enemies underwater as well as perform a death from above stealth kill (a stealth mechanic that was used in Splinter Cell Blacklist). Tombs make a return once again with more of them being available albeit they are optional. The difference this time around is that the tombs are guarded by wildlife such as, bears, wolves and Pumas. The more prevalent wildlife makes the game a bit more challenging. Speaking of challenge the game's difficulty has definitely been bumped up when compared to the reboot. Rise of the Tomb Raider is considerably longer than the previous release clocking in at 30-40 hours if you decide to gather all of the weapons, get access to all of the abilities and upgrades, completing all of the side quests as well as discovering every tomb. As if that's not enough the game also has an Expedition Mode which replaces the multiplayer from the previous release. You can customize challenges through the use of collectible cards. There are even modifiers such as, having only one life, stealth kills that earn temporary invisibility as well as timers that determine who comes out on top. The game has numerous set piece moments that are amazing and adrenaline filled. You also get to visit various locales such as, Syria and Siberia. You also get flashbacks to England during the numerous cutscenes. Crystal Dynamics crafted an absolute gem of a title and I hope to see more Tomb Raider games in the future moving forward. This was easily one of my favorite games of 2015.
Screw ign. I continue to be impressed by how well each review is. You keep them brutally honest and leave no stone unturned. Plus you come up with the most awesome ways to describe things. I don't see how you keep doing it man. Ok I rented the game and I'm in love with it. I'm about 30% completion. I noticed there's not as many enemies to fight this time around. It's still fun but I'm also missing the huge waves of enemies and how frantic and chaotic the gunfights were in 2013. Does the amount of enemies pick up later?
I second that! Great reviews. I've been watching your PC game reviews and stumbled on this console review, when you mention resolution that "looks to be 1080p, but drops in cutscenes" I got really confused for a minute.
+Trav _ Yeah AJS cosplay skits are funny, but not a fan of his review criteria. I don't watch reviews to see if it is 10/10 but to see if it's worth buying!
Stellar review as always! It's interesting that you mention the disconnect between the actual gameplay vs what the narrative presents. That's something I felt was also heavily present in the previous game with Lara turning from innocent lamb to alpha predator within a time span of like 20 minutes. It's strange because I actually think Rhianna Pratchett is pretty ambitious in terms of what she wants to do with the writing, but the gameplay does seem to undermine that effort in certain ways. Regardless, I'm looking forward to playing this!
For someone who loved the first one, it seems like a perfect sequel: bigger, stronger, better in every respect possible. But there's probably gonna be some discontented people complaining about how it does not go beyond the formula of its predecessor.
And this is why I love you, two reviews in one day! I watch other reviewers like Angry Joe, but he only uploads a review like once a month, and they're not much different. Thank you
Played it on the PS4. Straight up the most fun I had with a game this year. Just ridiculous fun. A few more modes and features in that version than gone into here. Highly recommended. Also, best reviews on the internet are you and Easy Allies (formerly of GT), and I think you're more in depth, and even more articulate. Well done, my friend. Well done indeed.
I have Game Pass account on my Xbox One and luckily this was one of the games in it. I was really excited to play it, but when i did, i was blown away! The graphics are one of the best i've seen, Camilla is the best Lara in years and the gameplay is satisfying (especially the combat) Really amazing game which i really reccommend
It's sad that this will be extremely overshadowed by Fallout 4. FO4 is still an incredible game (from what I've played so far at least) but this definitely deserves more recognition.
It was a terrible launch time. I think the PC and PS4 versions will get more recognition. It was a pretty poor move on MS part to give this timed exclusivity.
+Stuart Corps Laura is the new character in the latest Street Fighter game coming out. She is not in any of the Tomb Raider games. Seriously though it isn't hard to say Lara. If people can say tar, far, par, etc, then they can say Lar in Lara. It sounds the same you're just replacing the first letter with an L, whilst the Laur in Laura sounds like core, floor, door, sore, etc.
+Angry Toast Have to wonder how you think Lara is pronounced if you think the movies with Angelina Jolie and the games all the way back to 1996 are saying Laura. The 'Laur' in Laura rhymes with store, lore, floor and core whilst 'Lar' in Lara goes along with car, tar, far and par.
Can't wait to play it tomorrow. Thanks for mentioning the lack the map mess, overcrowding is always my biggest concern going into an open world/ openish world game. Awesome review as always.
Very good review, think I was agree with you at all the points. I'm impressed how fast you talk and very clearly at the same time. Really well said! So I subscribed, I like to hear more of your reviews :-) Good job man!
Most thorough and yet concise reviewer in the biz. In 11 min or less you give me more and better info than certain other reviewers who average 38 min videos.
Hey, just wanted to give a shoutout to you channel. Love your humor and insight. This is now my go to channels for game reviews. Keep up the good work!
I been going over your past reviews, and I must say. Your attention to detail is REALLY refreshing. I can truly see that you really enjoy what you do. And it is always a pleasure to see someone excelling at doing what they love. +1 sub from me, and I'll be sure to let my friends check your channel out. Keep up the awesome work. :)
"a bosom of triangular danger..." lol this cracked me up! thanks for the awesome review Karak. It is so complete compared to others. You are definitely my go-to reviewer. I loved the reboot (well I actually really liked the originals prior reboot too) and looks like this is keeping up with what they started. I do not own an xb1. So looks like I will pick up the xbox360 version (which is decent considering the age of the platform) until it comes out on PS4 next year. I just cannot wait that long (Hell can't wait for the PC version).
13:45 is killing snow leopards mandatory? (Are there items that require their skins, or sth)? Can I play through without killing any and get all items I'd need... That was my deal breaker with Far Cry 4 and I really hope it doesn't happen here, because I really enjoy Tomb Raider....
keep up the good work dude, nice to see a reviewer that doesnt grade by number. numbers make people compare and contrast and cause flame wars, telling peeps the good and bad is just what I wanna hear out of a review to be honest
Really good review thank you for that! But what is with that Lynx at @9:40 I don't think that huge Lynx even exists. From that perspective it looks like Sif from dark souls but really, Lynxes are just little bigger cats. They are still dangerous, but they are not that big.
Hey Karak, just an advice.. I hope one day when you're famous (I'm sure you will, and its coming fast), you will not forget to be humble. Always be honest to your viewers. Love you man.
Amazing review as always. Is there an option to change controls to southpaw? Specifically the control sticks. The last game didn't have the option and took away from the experience for me.
Great review! Sooo looking forward to checking this out. I really dug the last one alot. You nailed it with the shogun/liquor store simile hahaha. That's a necessary marriage like red beans and rice.
Really loved the first Tomb Raider. It was just enjoyable. Can't wait to play this on PC. Sad to wait for it though. But hey, I'm waiting for a great game anyways.
Hey Karak, will you be coming back to have another look at it next year when it comes to PS4? If you will - will you take the what ever price+content that will be offered into the overall review decision?
I never really comment much. But have to say every time I consider purchasing a game I always find my way to your reviews. Keep up the great work. I loved the Tomb Raider reboot and can not wait to play this one too!
Hiya buddy, new subscriber here. Have to say your reviews are excellent, they are thorough and a joy to listen to, you certainly are talented. You deserve more subs. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your next one.
Great review and spot on! My only issue was the tombs themselves not having anything to do with the story, at least not directly in terms of plot movement. But like you said, it improves in almost every way on the original, and what more could you ask? I bought it on Xbox 360 and it still looks great and runs well - there are some screen tearing areas with actual graphics dropping out completely revealing ... underlayers? But I only found those after backtracking into an area.
You know, I was kinda surprised you didn't make some kind of comment about how perfectly sculpted Lara's physique is... I suppose it helps when there isn't any impressive scenery to gawk at.
I was expecting a fallout 4 review from you, but not a tomb raider review in the same day! How did you squeeze in the time to get both reviewed? Also you think the xbox one version is good enough or would it be worth it to wait for the PC version? Can't really decide.
Great review as always Karak. Do you have any info on the micro transactions in this game? I can't seem to find mucho info other than they have some sort of card pack system
Great review as always AngryCentaurGaming, yet again one of your reviews makes me happy I pre-ordered a title. :) Very much looking forward to playing/streaming this tomorrow while everyone else is playing Fallout 4.
Laura, much like Indiana, are Tomb Raiders, not Archeologists (even though most Tomb Raiders do have a background in Archeology, they just choose to ignore the scientific method, process, and rules). Thanks for the another great review. I'm assuming there is a PC version with a proper controlling method and that it is not an XBone exclusive. Looks like there will be at least one good AAA game this year. The best reboot of a series ever... A rare case of the reboot being much better than the original. Keep up these great and thorough reviews. Cheers.
EpicShadow26 Had forgotten about Fallout. Should be acceptable in January/February when all the usual Bethesda Bugs are sort of fixed. You are, however, correct: Fallout promises to be a very good game. Cheers. Oh yeah, almost forgot, Witcher 3 is a nice game but not a good game... The generic button bashing combat sot of ruins the experience... I did enjoy the first couple of hours, than the combat ruins everything. Try to play Darksiders or Mortal Combat to see what a game should be like. These games demand skill and are difficult to master.
zrasam I hope you're either joking or too young to know what a good game should be like. Button bashing on a console controller is not good gaming. A good game is supposed to require skill... Guess this console generation doesn't know the meaning of the word. Not your fault. Cheers.
NorthWolfe I know games that require skill and are difficult to master, I beat Devil May Cry on Dante Must Die. Still haven't played Darksiders, Its on my backlog. I understand what you mean about Witcher 3's combat, but I still love that game. To each their own.
the map isnt messed up it gives you the location you just have to find it like a treasure hunt in a way which is better than just being fully led to it..
I am just getting around to toying with buying this game when I found your page looking for reviews. I like how you broke things down. I'm sold. Oh yea, I'm sold on the game also. Thanks!
The fact that you are able to review all these games, in a manner that is much more detailed than some big-name websites, is beyond me. I didn't even know this review was posted until I finished the Fallout 4 review. As always excellent work. You clearly know what you are talking about and you give interesting opinions on games, without pulling any punches. I would love to talk about the gaming an the state of the industry with you. haha Pay attention to this guy RUclips!
+Aurelious Christian just like laura in the new reboot, she ice cold, nigga, dunno why she keeps pretending to be the victim after slaugthering everything in her path :P
very good review, I would say the pros: sound, graphics, atmosphere, smooth mechanics cons: story, gameplay mechanics feel derivitive of other games (Farcry, Uncharted), explosions and places falling apart seem like a cheap way to keep people entertained (like a Michael Bay movie)
Liked the review. It seems like all the graphical issues you spoke about will be more than solved (hopefully) in the PC release, so I'll wait for that.
Not just her face, but I dislike her voice as well. It's one of those who speak without closing their mouth HAHA. Anyway, a deep and elaborating review as always. You don't just say a thing is bad/positive, but also why with great details. Always enjoy you praising/criticizing parts none would mention.
I enjoyed the 2013 reboot, but M$ and Crystal Dynamics shenanigans with exclusivity makes this one a no sale for me. I might get it in a year's time if it's going cheap on a Steam sale.
I'm happy Square Enix made the decision to bring this to PS4. After all, Sony is the original home of Tomb Raider. I'm a savvy shopper; I only buy games that I know I'll enjoy, and *I never pre-order*. But I've been a fan of TR since the 90's, loved the last one, and so I'll likely buy this for PS4 next week. Happy to know it's Angry Centaur-approved though!
John E RocKeTZ Huh, I never knew that! I've been gaming since the Coleco Vision and Atari days too, so I guess I that just went over my head. At any rate I think we can both agree that Tomb Raider's home was Sony for quite some time.
You have the best reviews on the web. Great writing, great voice, and jesus there at the end I almost shit myself laughing with the human Rosetta Stone bit. Brilliant.
"Just like a liquor store owner, Shotguns save the day." That was hilarious.
+Rally Monster Glad you liked it Rally
Your analogies are awesome. They bring a unique feel to the reviews.
Lara Croft: History Destroyer.
Nathan Drake is worse... He destroys lost civilizations...
+Richards Daniel (KIWIMADNEZ) all for nothing haha. Hes an adrenaline junkie really, likes the rush of climbing and escaping from near death experiences
+The Infamous right

Lara "Lar RA" Not Laura lol Ah whatever, nice review
+TheRatzor Ya hate the name. Changed it. Was going to call her sally all the way through the review but I figured people would crap a gold brick
+AngryCentaurGaming Oh I see lol, what a shame I'm going to have to wait to play this though :(
+AngryCentaurGaming please do, I'd love to crap a gold brick
+TheRatzor I know right? 2 reviewers in a row don't say it right.
+TheRatzor sounds like "Lora" when it whould sound more like "lahra"...
You didn't really just call her Laura 100 times did you?
obviously not
You are the clearest, best, most unbiased reviewer on RUclips. Keep up the good work!
THIS is the youtube reviewer, with Angry in his name, that people should be paying attention to

+AngryCentaurGaming plus you're not really a angry fellow though

Fallouts good but Dragon Age is great.
who's Laura? i'm feeling confused

so glad i found your reviews ! honest and detailed, excellent!
It's amazing how 90% of reviews don't even mention audio and music, let alone talking bits about them. Thank you.
+ZzzZombi no problem
I been going over your past reviews, and I must say. Your attention to detail is REALLY refreshing. I can truly see that you really enjoy what you do. And it is always a pleasure to see someone excelling at doing what they love. +1 sub from me, and I'll be sure to let my friends check your channel out. Keep up the awesome work. :)
+Ndumiso Mate Hey thanks so much
Loved the 2013 reboot, will have to wait a few months for th price to drop, added to the list after fallout 4 to pickup! Great review
Have the exact same plan.
Hello, my personal Game of the Year. It's nice to see you again.
+Jonathan Leack indeed
It's Lara, not Laura
"a bosom of triangular danger..." lol this cracked me up! thanks for the awesome review Karak. It is so complete compared to others. You are definitely my go-to reviewer.

+Caroline Gibson Thanks man
I think this is the first review I've seen from you, and enjoyed it entirely. Hell of a good tone and attitude for videos, loved it! Keep it up!
+Master L THanks MasterL Glad you liked it brother
13:45 is killing snow leopards mandatory? (Are there items that require their skins, or sth)? Can I play through without killing any and get all items I'd need... That was my deal breaker with Far Cry 4 and I really hope it doesn't happen here, because I really enjoy Tomb Raider....
+Tuuli Pohjola not sure
+Tuuli Pohjola wtf its a digital leapard not even a life being and u can kill digital soldiers though but not a leapard lol
nope. Can't even look at it. That's just how I am.
Tuuli Pohjola They're going 2 make u kill that leapard lol. JK i haven't played the game i only own the ps4 right now :(
Thats just how I am. I can digitally murder humans by the thousands, but a wild cat trying to rip my face off? Nope, can't do it. Thats just gross...
keep up the good work dude, nice to see a reviewer that doesnt grade by number. numbers make people compare and contrast and cause flame wars, telling peeps the good and bad is just what I wanna hear out of a review to be honest

Hey Karak, just an advice.. I hope one day when you're famous (I'm sure you will, and its coming fast), you will not forget to be humble. Always be honest to your viewers. Love you man.
It would have been nice to have a different setting in this game. Perhaps a jungle or desert setting.
Amazing review as always. Is there an option to change controls to southpaw? Specifically the control sticks. The last game didn't have the option and took away from the experience for me.
You're on point getting these reviews out my man. I love your shit.. keep up the good work

+Jato24 lol thanks man
Really loved the first Tomb Raider. It was just enjoyable. Can't wait to play this on PC. Sad to wait for it though. But hey, I'm waiting for a great game anyways.
+Zubin Jacob I hear you

Tomb Raider 2013 is the first one in the reboot

What is the length of the game?Is it good on xbox 360?And awesome review
Best reviews on RUclips hands down, to the point and usually before or a few days after a game drops, really helps with buying decisions, thanks!
+Mark Rogalski Thanks

Are you kidding? The scenery is jaw dropping in most environments and yeah, Lara is stunning as always..
+Guy Brohski he meant that the scenery is impressive
Dude your intros are absolutely hilarious! Excellent, unbiased reviews too!
Great review!! Do you think it will be a fun game to play with a friend?? And does it have a online multiplayer mode?
+dylan preston I am not sure to be honest and no mp

1:53 Did she just shift sideways in mid-air?!
I was expecting a fallout 4 review from you, but not a tomb raider review in the same day! How did you squeeze in the time to get both reviewed? Also you think the xbox one version is good enough or would it be worth it to wait for the PC version? Can't really decide.
+TheGremlin8487 I treat reviewing like a job. Overtime when needed
Great review! Do you have the fallout 4 review ready to go? really looking forward to that one.
+Caske11 Cant discuss it sadly
+AngryCentaurGaming review embargo is lifted at 5 am for us Portland guys right?
Oh right there is a embargo on the embargo, any idea why they do that? Or you cant discuss that? Lol.
Great review as always Karak. Do you have any info on the micro transactions in this game? I can't seem to find mucho info other than they have some sort of card pack system
November the 10th is an amazing day. Tomb Raider, Fallout 4 and Black Ops3. All games worth buying.
"Like always" great review :)
I guess there is no way to disable those "jump here" and "turn here" markers?
Nice video dude
+Slcmof thanks
Are you under the Fallout 4 review embargo as well? I was counting on you to see a good review (fairly) early...
Why Karak's review RUclips view counts aren't the highest on RUclips is beyond me?
how long would it be for your fallout 4 review? :) can't wait to see your opinion of it!
+angrycentaurgaming
Great review as always AngryCentaurGaming, yet again one of your reviews makes me happy I pre-ordered a title. :)
Very much looking forward to playing/streaming this tomorrow while everyone else is playing Fallout 4.
+bod699 thanks
Did you do any of the Expedition missions?
The library was in Alexandria, Egypt.
Alexandretta is in Turkey.
:)
+lovephool Correct. I was going to call it Liverpool just to throw people off. But everybody knew what i meant
damn your channel has grow a lot since I subscribe, congratulations man
Great review. Looking forward to playing this tomorrow after work.
+PreacherMan1971 thanks so much preacher
How fun is this to play after beating the story?
Laura, much like Indiana, are Tomb Raiders, not Archeologists (even though most Tomb Raiders do have a background in Archeology, they just choose to ignore the scientific method, process, and rules).
Thanks for the another great review. I'm assuming there is a PC version with a proper controlling method and that it is not an XBone exclusive.
Looks like there will be at least one good AAA game this year.
The best reboot of a series ever... A rare case of the reboot being much better than the original.
Keep up these great and thorough reviews.
Cheers.
One good AAA game? Fallout 4? Witcher 3? Bloodborne?
+EpicShadow26 Yeah right, there are so many good AAA game right now, even ass creed is suprisingly decent this year lol
To each their own.
loved the review, subscribed!
Excited for the PC release!
+Spicycow appreciate it
Hey Karak, do walk the walk with this game! I think it deserves
Love your work, keep it up!
+Eric Farto thanks
Another great review man thanks.
+GeneralPattern you betman
Great review. I'll have to wait for the game to come out on PC or PS4 though.
Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to your Fallout 4 review. :-)
Great review..looking forward to this now.
+Mark Cranmer Its amazingMark
4:10 maybe because the first scenes are usually made last because the devvers are already having a hang of it?
+metalon no
the map isnt messed up it gives you the location you just have to find it like a treasure hunt in a way which is better than just being fully led to it..
+vision41094 I spoke about the distance of the icon to items n the review. Including where it said Lara hereself was.
Will you be reviewing this game when it comes to pc ?
+Adanos If I get it ya
I am just getting around to toying with buying this game when I found your page looking for reviews. I like how you broke things down. I'm sold. Oh yea, I'm sold on the game also. Thanks!
Nice review as always
+Anthony Perkins Boom thanks Anthony
Thank you for this awesome review ! Keep it up !
+Just AJoX you bet
are there actual side missions in this game or just tombs and the story? sorry if you mentioned this already
+Jackson black ya mentioned
The fact that you are able to review all these games, in a manner that is much more detailed than some big-name websites, is beyond me. I didn't even know this review was posted until I finished the Fallout 4 review.
As always excellent work. You clearly know what you are talking about and you give interesting opinions on games, without pulling any punches. I would love to talk about the gaming an the state of the industry with you. haha
Pay attention to this guy RUclips!
+Marcel “DerZerstoerer” Ogi Thanks man spread the word
Awesome review can't wait to get this tomorrow
+ferraro38 enjoy
Will you do an early Fallout 4 review?
+Jude Thomas no not early
+AngryCentaurGaming Meh no probs, your video reviews are worth the wait
Damn man you killing EVERYBODY with the reviews. Keep it up!
+Aurelious Christian thanks
+Aurelious Christian just like laura in the new reboot, she ice cold, nigga, dunno why she keeps pretending to be the victim after slaugthering everything in her path :P
very good review, I would say the
pros: sound, graphics, atmosphere, smooth mechanics
cons: story, gameplay mechanics feel derivitive of other games (Farcry, Uncharted),
explosions and places falling apart seem like a cheap way to keep people entertained (like a Michael Bay movie)
Sounds like you've got a new mic setup. There's some electric humming going on in there though, or maybe fan noise.
Liked the review. It seems like all the graphical issues you spoke about will be more than solved (hopefully) in the PC release, so I'll wait for that.
great review man!! I can not wait to play this
This guy......hands down, 100% the best reviewer around
Not just her face, but I dislike her voice as well. It's one of those who speak without closing their mouth HAHA. Anyway, a deep and elaborating review as always. You don't just say a thing is bad/positive, but also why with great details. Always enjoy you praising/criticizing parts none would mention.
if fallout has this quality of graphics and animations then I can die happily...
So so happy this turned out good! Just got to wait for the ps4 version now! Great review!
No, Sega Saturn is the game's debut, try harder.
Brilliant.
thanks Ethan
Great work man, really appreciate and like your reviews, I'll trust you and buy this game. Again great work
+UltimateH911 thanks
