You were so right about home economics being taken out of schools. I was a home economics teacher and lost my job because it was no longer offered in school. I had guys in my class and they excelled. I’m glad he is out there promoting his skills and has a successful business.

Misty, loved this interview! Never heard of this young man, but you can bet I'll be checking him out! Love his attitude and his drive for his passion & joy. This is what our kids of today are missing for what ever reason. I had home-ec in school, I did well with cooking, not so good sewing my 1st dress, but now I sew quilts! Love it.

What a delightful interview, Misty! Thank you Craig. I've never been a fan of the Housewives or Southern Charm, but you certainly are a man who has come away from experience and learned many lessons and are giving to so many different communities! I saw you on the Emmys Sunday night and I saw your name today on Misty's show, so I had to find out who you are! I applaud your humility and honesty. Misty, you were so gracious! I did notice that you put on more makeup today!😊

This interview reminded me of a favorite uncle. He came home from WWII and needed a job. He applied at Marshall Fields Chicago. They hired him and told him they would train him to do upholstery and be drapery maker. He told me “when I retired from Marshall Fields, People were not buying custom-made drapes as they used to”. He told me, “the hardest thing I had to do was walk out of the shop and leave my sewing machine behind. I had sewed on that machine for so many years”.

I have always said for many years, that A SEWING MACHINE IS A POWER TOOL! And listening to this video just proves it. I have told construction people this, when shopping at a hardware store and they just laugh so I tell them to think about it, you can plug it in and it has a very sharp part that can go through your finger. But all joking aside A SEWING MACHINE IS A POWER TOOL! It gives many people the power to create and accomplish many many beautiful things.

Craig is a remarkable man. I agree go with what brings you joy; it is a God given gift to be able to create. there are all forms of art. and there are lots of men who sew. what about tailors? And as far as cooking, I learn a lot from watching chefs on You tube. Be you and love what you do. encourage others to be who they are as well. God Bless you.

Hi Misty! I so very much enjoyed this episode. What a great conversation with Craig. I cannot believe that anyone would not like your contribution to Missouri Star!! I think you are beautiful, cute, and I love watching any episode that you are on. I really like the Doan Family. Have not been watching that long but love everything about the channel!! I have certainly learned a lot. I just got into quilting about 3 years ago, though I have sewn most of my life (turning 69 next Friday on the 20th). I have always loved sewing; made most of my daughters clothes when they were little and now am sewing for my 6 yo granddaughter! Thank you all for sharing your talents and may God continue to richly bless the family! Much love!!

Having worked over 20 years in big box sewing stores, seeing the demise of kids being shown sewing basics in school was a palpable thing. It became trickle down economy; less people learning the craft, less need for affordable fabrics and notions, so prices rose more than normal, which made those of us who enjoyed the craft buy less... And on and on. But NOT catching the young mind like Craig who found a passion was the worst outcome. Such a shame.
This was SUCH a powerful interview, gave me goosebumps when he mentions his soul and what gives him JOY. I immediately asked my husband to think about what gives him joy. I hope to ask my son also (and probably my daughters as I think they may have lost their way.) Thank you for this interview ❤.

Great interview. I will never forget a friend I had in college. I was very sheltered and shy growing up and when I went to college I sort of grew up. I started working on a club and their newspaper and soon became the editor and person in charge of it. I started knowing important people in school and they knew me and I was suddenly popular! But with that came the haters as well. My friend told me these words that stuck with me till this day: *once people start talking about you that means you have arrived!". That lit up a light bulb in my head and I embraced my new self and have been a completely new and different person since. I am not as shy(still a little bit though most people can't tell), I'm more outgoing and sure of myself. I attempt new things in life more freely than I would have before because I am so much more confident in myself. I am 63 now and I still remember those words that changed my life and I live by them and share them when ever I have a chance!😊
