A quick tour of Tina Garrett's art studio including info on outfitting your studio with an oil paint rack, brush cabinet and easel lighting for oil painters.
This studio means serious business! As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of my days painting in uni. I remember I just craved SPACE to move around. As much I love cutesy art studios other people vlog about, they feel small and cluttered, I feel this setup is what is actually conducive to prolific painting. Very cool setup!
Thanks so much! I actually have two studios, this one and a larger one in my basement where I also teach workshops. I like to move back and forth every few years. It helps me keep out the clutter each time I move. xo
What a beautiful space! I’m curious where are you putting your works in progress? Or do you work on only one piece at a time? You must have a separate area for framing and packaging supplies?
Yes! I have a 700 square foot space that is dedicated to shipping and receiving as well as stretching and varnishing and all my storage of frames, canvas over 20x30 inches, etc. In addition I have about 900 square feet of space for teaching workshops. This studio is strictly for my own use when I am creating paintings. My small canvas and panels, paints, brushes, paper towels, solvents and mediums and video and computers are here with me. Hope that's helpful!
Thank you for sharing your art space with us it’s beautiful and inspiring. I squeaked a little when I saw the husky drawers I just finished establishing my new art studio and after a long search I have chosen the same husky drawers. they are very sturdy no dust will get to your art supplies and definitely more durable than those ikea drawers that most people buy. Also Husky have magnet drawers organizers that are great for making compartments in your drawers check them out, love your art and very happy that I have found your channel
I absolutely love the cleanliness & organization! I'm working on getting a studio... my bedroom no longer suffices, lol! I know I've reached the point where I need more space to allow me to further expand. I'm starting to do more commissions, I'm collaborating with several entrepreneurs, I'm working on building my RUclips & SM presence, and simply need more space. Your video is a real inspiration!
I have seen a few others use those bulldog clips to hang paint but not the full setup like yours. I'm definitely going to construct this type of rack in my new house this summer. I love a well-thought out studio. Thank you for the tour!
Thank you so much for this beautiful and inspiring video. I found so many clues, especially as I am trying to set up my own personal working space. May I ask, what is the shade and brand of paint you have used on your walls?
Sorry, that is a Richeson BEST Halley Multimedia Easel. Hope this link helps: www.jerrysartarama.com/best-halley-easel-53187?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_sa4bRyPpFCb6AjaKz4cf9Mr0RK&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjNS3BhChARIsAOxBM6qv0j4a_JLJCcLLi3jBnBto-OqZ0QFVavvtpscibuLk5VPxgdOhW_oaAmLXEALw_wcB
@@artisttinagarrett - what model & size is the Husky cabinet you have? I’m looking at the Home Depot web page and I don’t see one with the same configuration of drawers as yours.
Very nice virtual tour, Tina. It made me giggle a little to see the paint on your keyboard. :) I have very similar lights for my easel, but I can't seem to keep it clipped. Do you mind telling me (or sending me a photo) of how you actually attached it above? I'm rorganizing my new studio and would love to get the wackier problems I had resolved as I go through them.
Sorry it took me WAY TOO LONG to reply Kathryn! They are just clipped on with those black paper clips you can buy in bulk at an office supply store. xo
Love your studio! I’m a new subscriber because I just “found” your channel tonight. Would you please let me know the model # of your Husky storage cabinet, the dimensions and/or a link where you purchased it? I looked online and didn’t see any that looked exactly like the one you have. @Tina Garrett
I have something similar for my paints. I don't have as many and mines are in a cupboard. I can close & open it. It looks nice when not in use. I make my own. Because it's hard and expensive to find the pigment ratio I want and besides the comercial paints use huge amounts of fillers. If I need filler to make an impasto I heat chalk crush it sift it and use that. But since I live on an island, I'm financially poor, comparatively speaking with us residents and mostly make my own supplies where I can
Alla Prima my favorite art book! Beautiful studio.

I got the paint at Home Depot, I think it was a middle grey. Nothing too blue or too yellow, just right in the middle. xo
Only artists will understand how much money is hanging on the "paint rack" :D
Hahaha right
So beautiful and clean. How did you get that easel? I don't find in my country 😒. Thanks

Hi Gwen, Thanks so much! Yes I got mine at Harbor Freight! They may offer different sizes and styles than The Home Depot.
I have a artists room too
