The ferry ride reminded me when my husband and me took a getaway, last minute trip to Seattle after our daughter passed. I had always wanted to go to Seattle and it will always have a special place in my heart because I left there a lot of my raw grief. This video came at a perfect time because next week it’s going to be 3 years since we lost her. Watching this video made me feel all those emotions again but at the same time it reminded me that our trip was very healing. Thank you so much for this.
Btw, have you been to Tat’s delicatessen in downtown? It was our favorite food there. Simply amazing. Oh and the sea food restaurant by the Great wheel has the best salmon I’ve ever had and that means a lot coming from a Caribbean girl that knows about seafood.
    Love you Taylor ❤️

Bleach paint a flower or a design on the fabric since you got bleach on it, with paint brushes.
Check with craft and fabric stores, you probably can find foam that you can cut down to the size of the cushion.
With the plant, it should easily pull out of the pot it is in. Loosen the roots from the old soil, you don’t have to rid the roots completely, then center it in the new pot, and cover with soil, making sure it packed tightly enough to keep it up right, but not too tight.

Fiddle leafs don't like a ton of water, so if your pot doesn't have holes in the bottom for drainage, put a layer of lava rock or clay pellets (I like the ones from Ikea bc I live near one, and they're cheap) in the bottom, then a layer of soil, and then the root ball. The bit before the root ball should be no higher than a third of the way up the pot. I'm super new to plants (like a 2 months of ownership) but I get most of my info from The Sill. www.thesill.com/blogs/care-miscellaneous/plant-care-repotting

Plant... put enough new soil in the bottom of the new pot,so the old soil is about 4 inches from the top of the new pot. You might need to cut it Out of the old pot, but it might also slide out. Once you have it sitting in the new pot, fill the side up with new soil. Also put a layer of new soil on top. You want to have a few inches of nothing from the soil to the top of the pot, once it’s in the new pot. There is also something called Osmo coat, it is a really good plant food. You can buy it at like Home Depot or Lowe’s. I don’t know if that made any sense but I tried

To re pot...add a little bone meal into your potting soil. I get mine at Lowe's in garden center. I always massage the roots gently, this breaks them up a little and stimulates new growth. Make sure to water plant well after re potting it.

You could make your own cushion. They sell memory foam and you cut it to size with an electric knife. You may have enough left over fir something else. I once used an old mattress topper that had ripped to make some antique dining room chairs more comfortable. I had to round and shape them a bit all over with knife.

For the fiddle leaf fig- give it a good watering the day before to help loosen up the soil. Mix your potting soil with perlite, which is white puffed volcanic rock. It’ll help aerate the soil and improve drainage so you don’t overwater. Mix the perlite somewhere between 1/3 and half with your potting mix. Try to remove as much of the old soil from the roots as possible, and loosen up the roots gently without tearing. Place in the center and fill in the empty space with new soil. If you’re not fertilizing, that could also really help out your plants! Get a liquid fertilizer and fertilize every other watering during spring summer and fall. If it’s organic, you can just use the directions on the bottle. If it’s a synthetic fertilizer, cut the amount you dilute in water by half because it’s really easy to over fertilize with synthetic and burn your plants. Good luck!

The plant roots have probably overgrown. It should slip out easy from the pot, but if needed you can cut the plastic pot off. Some regular potting soil is all it’ll need. When you go to plant it you’ll want to loosen up the roots. (When you pop it out the roots will be in the shape of the pot) you’ll plant it at the same height it is now! It just needs more room to grow down and out! Call your local Extension Office and see if you can chat with a Master Gardener volunteer! Neat program that started in Washington.🙂

You can usually get foam cut to size on ebay and stuff, you could just get some mailed to you and upholster it. You could even just spray adhesive the foam to some board so that you can get rid of the wood underneath and give yourself something to staple into for the upholstery.

Repot outside. Press on the pot and Roll back & forth to release roots. Place rock or other product in the bottom of new planter. Gently stand released plant inside larger pot and place soil in and around fiddle plant until it stands on it’s own. It may lose a few more leaves until the shock of replanting wears off. Cut off dead leaves at this point not before.

TAYLOR! Your fiddle leaf fig needs to be in front of a large window! They hate being in a corner and they thrive on bright light! Water when the soil gets dry and make sure to spray until water runs out the bottom. Also, Fiddle Leafs need good draining soil so use a cactus mix! You can order a water meter on amazon for around $10 and water when it reads between 3-4 😄 your tree will thank you!

Go to an upholstery supply company and have them cut you the exact size and type of cushion you want. You can also do this with old sofa cushions to refurbish them. They have machines that condense the cushions down to get them into the covers and fit tight.

With your pot plant - it should just come out the black pot it is in. Put a layer of soil into the new pot so that the root base is slightly raised and then fill in soil all around it until the pot is full. Give it a good water and some plant food and it will be very happy!

So for your fiddle-leaf, I would first get an even bigger pot than the terra cotta you have underneath, that way you have room for more rootage and growth in the future. But to repot, put a little new soil in your new pot, take the old plastic one and squeeze the sides to create a release, and it should pop right out. THEN, try to separate the roots a little bit because when they are in too small of pots, the get too intertwined and can rot. Once those are all separated and youve got some dangly bits, go ahead and put it in the new pot, add more soil to top it off and fill any holes, water, and youre good to go!!! 😘

Roots are probably getting bound up, it will get messy but I usually lay it on it’s side and pull it out or cut it out (as in cut the black container). You can kind of smack/pat/shake the old dirt to let some/a fair amount of it go away since it’s probably devoid of many nutrients anymore.Check the roots at the bottom, imagine trying to detangle them with your fingers like you detangle wet hair (if that makes any sense) some of the roots might break off it’s okay. Repot with some new soil at the bottom, place it in and fill with the rest of the soil. Mom trick she taught me for repotting - After that you want to use a long stick to push the soil down and poke it down a few times to make sure any small air pockets are gone and that the dirt is fully packing down otherwise the roots don’t like gaps. I just take a chopstick and poke poke poke especially by the base. I’m hoping some of that made sense? 🤔🙏

You can absolutely replant. You may have have some transplant shock. Make sure to feed the soil with some miracle grow of some sort after the transplant. You should be able to remove the black, plastic liner by cutting. Sometimes they come right off, but since you are petite, that might be difficult with a tall plant.

  • @caseyajb03
    @caseyajb03 5 лет назад

The plant should come right out with a little twist. You can cut the the plastic off though. Just get a small bag of quality plant soil, cover the bottom of the new pot, pop the plant in & fill in the rest of the pot around it. Water.

For your fig tree, you will probably have to cut the small pot off because it is huge and I would guess you have some root bound going on. Put 3 cups or so of soil in the bottom of the new pot put the plant in with its current dirt and then fill in the empty space and cover part of the trunk because it looks like it could use the support. The lipstick plant certainly is too big for its little pot but I don't think you will have to break the pot on that one.

For the Fiddle Leaf Fig, it’s simple. Potting soil was good to buy, now just go to any garden center or nursery- anywhere with plant stuff (Home Depot, Ace hardware, etc) and buy something called perlite. It’s cheap and will look like little white balls when you open it up. Mix the potting soil and perlite together into that clay pot you have the fiddle sitting in now, probably around 70% potting soil and 30% perlite. If that clay pot doesn’t have a hole in the bottom, drill one or get a new pot. I would seriously advise against using pure potting soil as it will be very very wet when you water it and you might drown the fig, the perlite will lighten the mixture so it dries okay. Just cut up the plastic pot the fiddle is in now or lift it out, try to get rid of much of the soil it’s in now. You can just knock and pull it off the roots. It will be a big ball of roots probably, and just bury them into the new pot with the new mix! If it scares you, look up videos of people repotting houseplants to get a basic idea of what it will look like. :)

    • @emilooGIRL
      @emilooGIRL 5 лет назад

To emphasize something, I would get rid of a whole ton of that old soil. It’s probably really old by now and the plant wants fresh soil. Don’t just pull it out of that pot and stick it into a bigger pot with more soil- knock off that old dirt. The fig will thank you

Ok, for your plant...get a much larger pot with drainage holes on the bottom. At least twice the size of the current pot. Put some new potting soil in the new pot, about half up, then carefully take your current pot, put it on its side, massage the sides of the pot to help loosen the roots, then carefully begin to remove the plant by holding the stem. Once its free, gently massage the roots to help loosen them, then place it in your new pot. You want the top of your dirt line (from the plant) to match the top or near top of your new pot, so pack in potting soil on the sides and top, then when full to the top, gently press down all over. Then, give your plant a good watering. It will take time for your plant to adjust to its new home, so dont worry if it looks a little sad for a few months, just make sure its getting enough water and light and it will be very happy ❤❤❤

Vlog!!! Just love them!! Not that I have any other vlogs to watch.. i think you can remove the pot, fill the larger pot with soil first. I think you don’t need to cut it up.. you can always reuse it if it’s not damaged. The smaller plants , i think you can just trim them.. and remove just a little portion of the plant that’s been growing out from the soil ... so that it has room to breathe.. i mean soil to ... never mind.

It looks like your plant is rootbound.
The container will probably be a pain to get off , but you can do it!
I usually will take the plant outside or lay down an old sheet and then put the plant on its side and push the pot to loosen up the plant. Then keep trying to pull it out. You might need to cut it like you said.
Put some potting soil on bottom of new pot and then place more soil around and on top of plants base.
Make sure the bottom of the new pot has holes for drainage. When you water, do a deep water and then rewarded when plant starts to seem dry.
You can also add some epsom salt 1x month or so before watering. It gives the soil nutrients.
Have you looked at the website. 1st dibs? The have a lot of vintage jewelry 🙂👍🏻

Fiddle leaf figs actually like smaller pots, i don’t think that’s the issue. It won’t hurt to repot in the size you have, though! But when i repotted mine i tried cutting the plastic nursery pot and it didn’t work so good.. haha. Get someone to help you lift it out and it will be a lot easier than me struggling alone on my back porch with all my neighbors watching. ALSO most importantly wipe off the leaves regularly! The dust prohibits sunlight from properly absorbing into the leaves. I adopted my figgy from a friend who never did this and the plant was looking rough. Once i started wiping the leaves she’s now growing a ton of new leaves and even a new branch!

I miss Bainbridge island. My family and I went to Seattle in 2017 and it was so amazing! I can't wait to go back.

To,fix fix your orange chair take either a rag or a scrub brush your toothbrush or something like that with a little bit of bleach and water mixed together and just brush it in lines it'll add some texture and detail to your chair while also covering your blind spots

Take plant out, moistened the soil stuck on the plant, lossen the soil, put it in larger new pot, then put new soil around the plant, and put a water catch dish under it so all the water won't leak out the hole at the bottom!

Just cut that pot off to repot and replant in thing at least 3 times the size it’s in to give it room to grow. Maybe get it some of those plant food sticks. It’s easiest to do when dirt is on the drier side. Now, I could be totally wrong because I am far from having a green thumb but it’s how I did my one lil tree recently

I’m late to this vlog but in case you haven’t gotten plant help: pull that guy out and see if you can see his roots peeking through his nursery pot. If so he’s prob ready for a slightly bigger pot to keep growing. When you’re ready, kind of squeeze around the nursery pot to loosen him and he should come out okay just hold the base of his trunk as you gently tug him out. Then add like soil a little less than halfway. Try to get most of old soil from his roots (it’s cool if you leave some)don’t break up his roots in the process of some are really stuck to old soil, it’s no biggie. Then make a little hole for him in your new soil and put the rest of new soil to finish up his new pot. Give him a good drink after that. That should help! And just only water him when he’s dry. I hear those guys love mist so that could help him look better in the future. I don’t own one but I’m becoming a plant dork and have lots of other types. 😂

I’m pretty sure the plant that you showed after the Fiddleleaf fig is a lemon lime warnecki. I thought it look like it needed a little bit of water. And that leaf that looks bad on the fiddle leaf fig needs to be cut off. What something turns yellow or brown it’s never going to turn green again. And that way all that good energy can go to the rest of the plant and not be wasted on that bad leave. As for transplanting all you really need to do is put a little soil in there take the black grow pot off of the fiddle leaf fig put it into your container and fill up soil around it make sure you water it in pretty good but don’t let it be floating in water.
