    I did all of this in 2005. Starting with the terrible ethernet streaming using phantasy star. Bright side of that is I got both Phantasy Star and the Ethernet adapter for cheap! Then I got the qoob and installed it with whatever wire I had lying around and to this day it still works great. I used your guide to put Swiss on my system. Today, I bought a new console and installed picoboot, gc dual, and swiss on the sd2sp2 and that'll be my daily driver. I have the dvd sized case, it has lights on the top with a switch so it makes up for no power light. I have the clear dvd viper case though. I remember all these things from the old days. It is funny that the picoboot revived the IPL injection exploit that the qoob started though, it just does it better. Thanks for the vid!

    I had a GameCube modem adapter and used dial-up internet to get online up until about 2017 when I finally bought a broadband adapter, believe it or not. The speed difference is just insane. I'd wait on the PSO dial-up loading screen for 1 to 2 minutes and the broadband adapter takes less than 10 seconds.

    The IcedCube from Team Xecuter is, by far, the best replacement case for GameCube. I still have the Ice Blue Limited Edition. It retains the lid resistance for slow-opening and everything. It also works with the original jewel if you transplant it from a DOL-001 (DOL-101 does not unclip).

    • @emmettturner9452
      @emmettturner9452 3 года назад +1

      The full case version of the Iced Cube also has a rear mount for the Qoob USB port (and ViperGC parallel port). ...and did I mention it retains the power LED? ;)

    • @RockerGaming
      @RockerGaming  3 года назад +2

      That is a really nice replacement case! This also works with the OEM jewel as well, but man finding one of those cases today is incredibly difficult! Having said that it would be awesome to feature it as I have viper case too. While this case is boring in terms of color, I do prefer it to the viper case as I dont like the jewel option they have for it. You're so lucky to still have the blue as I would argue its the best color!
      My question is, who has the molds for those cases and where do I buy them, lol.

    • @emmettturner9452
      @emmettturner9452 3 года назад

      @@RockerGaming It’s crazy to think that the GC modding market was big enough for Hushtrap, XCM, and Team Xecuter replacement cases/top shells, especially with many willing to use mini DVDs, modify their original shell, go topless, or stream. Even I waited until 2008 to get it and it’s essentially unused since I was OK with the other options. I still remember when Animal Crossing Loader came out and I rushed to grab a copy of PSO to try it out. Worked a treat! :) When the ViperGC’s Cobra BIOS was extracted and released as a DOL called “Anaconda” I went to #Dextrose and suggested that an Action Replay could be used to load it from a memory card to softmod a GameCube without PSO+BBA but it was beyond my abilities. This started a conversation about bootstrapping a bootloader with a micro bootloader and all that. A week or so later we had Samson’s AR Loader. Samson was definitely in the chat, so I’m pretty sure I had a hand in it. ;)

    • @emmettturner9452
      @emmettturner9452 3 года назад

      @@RockerGaming ...but, yeah: The molds obviously existed. What happened to them? I was getting kinda panicked in 2008 when I was having trouble finding the full case version so it was already hard to get. It seems there is a lot more interest today, so it’s past time to drag those puppies out and press a few more. Last I heard some Team Xecuter guys were arrested for selling Switch hacks but I have no idea if they were even the same people 15 years later.

    • @RockerGaming
      @RockerGaming  3 года назад +3

      So its interesting I have a feeling that many of the teams that did releases back in the day actually sources their molds from other companies/groups. For example, when doing my research for this video I found team xtender did cases for several of the release groups back in the day. I should see if any of those email addresses are still good and if access to those molds can still be had. It would be a very interesting proposition to have more made today and I think people would love the ability to get them again.
      I was dumb unfortunately and never secured a full size case back in the day. Today I only have a bunch of half shells as a result... I would love a clear blue, clear, or smoke black full case!

    I remember dreaming about that case and Qoob Pro in the past. I never got them to this day. We came long way since then though... In 2021 it no longer makes sense to buy that case. Not only it's too expensive and hard to find but also it's a pain to burn DVDs. Swiss has very good compatibility with games playing from SD2SP2 or SD Gecko which makes it way better alternative. And there is GC Loader if you don't care about the disc drive. So many good options nowadays :) And there is much more new stuff in the works right now, it makes the future even more exciting!
