Surviving America's Toughest Dirt Bike Enduro | The Shady Burro

- The growth of American Hard Enduro has shown us that racers are looking for more challenge, and more accomplishment, when racing their dirt bikes. The 2021 Shady Burro Enduro wasn't a Hard Enduro Race, but it sure as hell was a tough event. It's the type of enduro racing that I want to see more of. My only issue with the way Hard Enduros are being run currently is that they create bottlenecks that can cause racers to sit on the side of the trail, awaiting their attempt at having a rider help them lift their bike over an obstacle.

I want to see more events like what RMEC have done with the Shady Burro Enduro; long days on the bike, high mileage and tough terrain that makes you think. There are many challenges that come along with putting on a two day enduro; land access, proper terrain and organizers to name a few. This is where it comes down to us, the racers, to help organizers and non-profits with their communities to support the area we want to ride in.
Lots to say and more places to take this conversation. I have more written on the Seat Time website if you're down for some reading. seattime.co/202...

I'm lucky enough to live in South Fork and get to ride these trails every week. Another positive for this race is that the town of South Fork loves the Shady Burro Enduro. The locals look forward to this event, welcome the racers and help provide whatever they need. enjoyed your video
That would be a cool town to live in, that's or sure! Even cooler to hear how supportive they are of the event.
I used to have a place in South Fork. It burnt down. I would love to live in that area now, if I could only make a living there. Not sure I could. I'm in construction and its a hard business in the mountains.
Well done video and nice riding. I am thankful to have the opportunity to race in this beautiful terrain and I really appreciate the promoters and the Rocky Mountain Enduro Circuit for organizing the event! This race is sure to put the rider and machine to the test.... I hope this event continues for many years to come.
The 2022 Schedule just came out and the Burro is on the calendar for August. I'm REALLY hoping I can make it happen!!!! And the RMEC seems to do a GREAT job with races, organization, and FUN.
America’s toughest? Not sure about that, but tough? Absolutely! The format, location and two days of superb riding all add up to a fantastic experience. Great hanging out with you, Woody!
Agreed, tons of fun! Which event/s would you say are tougher?
@@SeatTime Full disclosure: I rode the short course, so maybe my opinion is a little skewed! I’d say the NEPG/TSCEC Caprock Canyon Enduro in Turkey last November was at least as tough, for a one-day enduro. Was for me, anyway - I was just getting over Covid!
Awesome!! Fellow Texan here out of San Antonio!! Lived in Salida for 2 years and can’t wait to bring my bikes up to ride the divide!
Oh Man, get ready!!! The riding around that area is just amazing. Actually, all riding in Colorado, dirt bike or mountain bike, is amazing!!!
I was trying to find you because a rider told me a guy broke his front break. It’s so much cooler watching how you fixed it. Nice ride Woody
Thanks Dude! It was a tough moment on the trail, but we got her done!!!
Transfer looks like a field... is actually a 13000ft mountain top and neither you nor you bike can breathe. At least you dont have to worry about jetting being lean.
Such a great point that I forgot to mention. 13,000ft up is not a place most people find themselves when hiking, let alone on a dirt bike!!!
Thanks for the channel
You got it, thanks for watching!
Great video!
I’m a fellow Texan, well former Texan, living on the front range of Colorado. I’m hoping to do my first race next year and this one is at the top of my list.
I'm VERY jealous of you getting to live in Colorado! Such an amazing place. Be ready for the Burro, it's a tough one.
@@SeatTime i use to live west of Houston, so Colorado was a significant upgrade LOL
Your video has gotten a few shares on Colorado pages. Me and the fellas are planning on doing shady burrow next year.
Hell yeah! This turned out awesome Woody.
Thanks Dude! it was a lot of fun reliving this event after taking some time to think through how I wanted to tell the story.
looks like the best TSCEC race yet. im in for 2022 for sure
It's the best TSCEC race because it's put on by RMEC 😂 😉
Nice vid. Epic looking terrain. It's a long hike from Tejas but Tough Like RorR is one rugged experience.
I've seen that event evolve for sure. What's the lay out these days? It's full blown Hard Enduro, right?
@@SeatTime The qualifying course for Saturday is modestly hard. Sunday is bonkers. The biggest obstacle is the humidity. We went in 2019 and it was like 100000% humidity. It was brutal.
Awesome seeing you there man! Can’t wait to race with you again!
HECK YES! OH, what's the name of your crazy day on bikes in the Taylor Park area? I want to get that on my 2022 calendar for a quick trip up.
@@SeatTime It’s the Death March. Always the second weekend in September
@@highlandcycles THAT ! Adding to calendar. That looked HELLA fun!!! I also need to get to Idaho. Maybe Donner Ski Race.
A tough to finish enduro is the Gut Buster 24hr race.
I have no doubt. Especially if you Iron Man it!!!
great video, contagious vibe, earned a subscriber!
👊🏻👊🏻 thanks!! Enjoy #GettingSeattime!!
Great videos! You are hardcore riding those plus very lucky on some of those moments! lol Great editing and commentary! Definitely subscribing!
Bad Ass, thanks for the kind words. Enjoy #GettingSeattime!!!
Thank you for making this video 🤝
🤘 You Got It! Thanks for watching!!!
Saw your post on Thumper Talk. Great content, I'm definitely going to subscribe.
Heck yeah, welcome!!! Enjoy #GettingSeattime this weekend!!!
@@SeatTime Likewise! Heading out for the first desert trip of the season. Firm up them clickers, and put on that longer gear ratio sprocket! Time to play in Southern California's biggest playground.
Sounds Epic! I've only done true desert riding a few times in Baja and it was AMAZING!
I won my class last year, both days ♡ love shady burro
HECK YEAH! I did not win my class, hahaha. Just getting my bike through to the finish line was a win for me!!!
@@SeatTime I race women's c but I was way proud that I finished both days. I was in the tutu lol
@@rebeccarice1405 NIIIICCCCEEEE, I certainly remember the tutu! Do you have a blue one I could borrow for this year?
Tecate enduro in Mexico !
ONE DAY! I was hoping for this year but it feel on the same weekend as the Grinduro.
Tough LIke RORR, in my backyard and you can ride our "private" single track for days!
I'm going to be watching the dates for 2022. Maybe we can make a trip out of it. Desert 100 is on my list for 2022 though. Since that's WAY up in the PNW, I may need to wait till 2023 for a NE trip for TORR. WE SHALL SEE!!!
@@SeatTime TLRORR is usually July 4th weekend. Make it happen!
Greatest ride ever everyone should go 👨🏼🦳⛰💪⚙️💙🔥👍
Looking forward to it again this year!!!!
I started racing Enduro’s in 1996 and I live in East Tennessee and I would go all the way up north during the summer to run the Enduro‘s in Delaware and Pennsylvania. When I was racing in euros it was all day long and two tanks of gas, and I usually did very well because of my endurance not because of my skills...Well when the NEPG took over the Enduros and are manly ran in the south that pretty well killed my enthusiasm towards Enduro’s. Because nobody gets tired anymore but I went my edge on my competition. Last year I raced a NEPG andI got 5th in my class and never even had to put gas in the tank. And we’re I paid 35 dollars to race 6 to 8 hours I paid 70 dollars to ride less than 50 miles. I actually don’t have any your feelings towards the new Enduro group because the National series had started losing participants and they now have over 500 participants and now I have decided to just start racing cross-country events in Virginia, North Carolina.
The Shady Burro was two days and 200 miles. It was a traditional tough-ass enduro! I as well don't enjoy the NEPG's enduro's AS MUCH as I didi the longer, more grueling events. But, the times change, and we need to change with them (to some degree).
NEPG in West Texas in a few months and I look forward to supporting the sport and being there with bells on!
South Australian 24hr reliability trial...
Sounds Amazing! Drop a link!!!
@@SeatTime ruclips.net/video/zLJClS3c5jk/видео.html this bloke is on his 4th lap... thats 3x 6hr laps already completed. He is bloody hammering it given how long he has been in the saddle. Bloody solid effort.
Cool I hope we can go motorbike riding soon btw its Ricky
Yeah Buddy! Welcome Ricky!!!!
Too bad that rock jumped out in front of you...😉
🤣 so many rocks did that too me!!!
