"I hail from Melbourne and haven't visited Brisbane yet. I trust that this RUclips video will be immensely helpful as it provides a thorough and detailed explanation. Many thanks for taking the time to upload this valuable content!"
I'd love to be quarantined in Brisbane rather than experiencing this lockdown in Eindhoven! Brisbane is a great city, especially outside the CBD. I liked South Bank a lot with all the perfect parks and the public swimming pool. Australian English by the way sounds much better than American English! The slang is great and makes it feel like you're friends with anybody. For example the police passed by and said "hey buddy" to me, and the tour guide approached people with hey mate or g'day folks. This way Australians talk to people makes you feel home immediately. Kudos to the Australian culture and slang. I did experience the heat, but coming from a cold European December, the sun was very much welcome. I didn't mind the one time I got sunburnt. Luckily I didn't experience any sunstrokes. I haven't experienced any storms either during my month in Australia, guess I was lucky! Next time I'm going to Australia I'll hope it's gonna be a one-way ticket to Melbourne. Otherwise I'll start in Brisbane and will probably end up in Cairns for some Great Barrier Reef diving. Previous time I've travelled Melbourne-Tasmania-Sydney-GoldCoast-Brisbane-Perth. Currently I'm busy with my IELTS test preparation in order to apply for a visa 189 or 190 (VIC/NSW/QLD). Do you have any tips which will help to get an 8 for the English test or to speed up the processing time? Regarding the food in Brisbane, I saw lots of options in Woolworths which I missed a lot from my trip to Seoul, for example I cooked Bulgogi beef multiple times myself, in the apartment with seaview. There's no need to go to restaurants daily if you can make delicious food yourself and dine with awesome views! If you travel for one month, it cooking yourself is sometimes more relaxed than going out again for dinner and it also saves some money to do awesome tours! Well this is a long comment so I'm gonna bring it to an end. Have a great weekend and make sure you don't get COVID-19! 🤙
hahhaah I love reading your BNE comments, Felix! I love that you appreciate the little things like the 'hey buddy' from the cops haha. I love Aussie slang too! Oh gosh, I have no idea how to help with test. I'm so sorry! Wish I did!! I'm sure you'll ace it :D Hope you're hanging in there okay with the self-isolation, Felix. P x
Little Grey Box So far so good with the self isolation. My thesis has to be done 7th of April and my IELTS test is postponed to June due to the coronavirus. So enough work to do from home! How’s your self isolation going?
An older vid - that skyline is even more incredible in 2023 - but if you saw this town before Expo 88, left Oz and flew back today - whoa ...... It really WAS a 'big country town' a mere 35 years ago.
If you plan to come. Make Brisbane your central hub. Stay at least 4 days. Beautiful beaches south and north. Amazing rainforest 30 min drive from the city. Mt Glorious. To the west is stunning Moreton Bay. Brisbane is Australia's most under rated city. In Brisbane try Roma Street Gardens. Mt Cootha lookout and Botanical gardens. City botanical gardens. Cultural Centre has Museums galore. South bank Gardens. Try the suburban centres such as west end, Paddington, new farm and bulimba. Catch a city cat ferry and cruise the river. Eat at Eat Street. Try rock climbing at kangaroo point. Go to lone pine to hug a koala. Explore Toowong Cemetery. Do a ghost tour of Boggo Road Jail. Visit the Commissariat Store museum for a taste of early life. Go visit historic Newstead house. Try the Bulimba Creek walking tracks at Carindale. Vistit the many bushlands around the city including Boondall wetlands. You will be surprised how much there is to do in this city let alone the nightlife and all the normal things. Many tourists say they wish they had planned to stay longer. Brissy is the most Australian city in the country. Melbourne is European and Sydney is cosmopolitan. Brisbane is laid back and welcoming. People smile and are happy to chat with strangers. There is very little graffiti as the council clean it off. Brisbane is very clean and modern yet still has Australis most grandest old buildings. Brisbane is more and more embracing it's subtropical climate. Many lovely flowering trees and plants. The river is brown. It's a tidal river so it will never be blue or clear. It is home to 2000 bull sharks. That's why no one swims in it. There are many Eddy's and rips under the surface you can't see. Sunrise and sunsets are stunning. Blue Sky's are common with big puffy white clouds. It's perfect weather in winter June to August. The best time of year is September. Stunning days. Summer can be stiffly hot and humid with spectacular thunderstorms most afternoons. Most of all the same comment most tourists say is they can't believe how green Brisbane is. Some have said it's a city of forests. It was voted one of the most beautiful cities of the world for it's mix of grand sandstone buildings mixed with gleaming glass skyscrapers and it's gardens and flamboyant color. Enjoy
Nice finding your channel. New to brissie and I share my experience in Brisbane too... it's such a beautiful city and the clear blue sky is a win. Love the ferry services...
I'm so glad you love Brisbane too! You're right, those blue skies are amazing. Even on the coldest winter days we can have those brilliant blue skies... it's a gorgeous place to live.
I plan to participate in an exchange study program to Brisbane. I hope everything will go right but either way great video. For me it's a dream to live in a warm country near the beach, playing volleyball, enjoying good weather all the year. Brisbane also seems to be a city with the best size. Not too big and not too small.
This was really helpful! Answered my tipping question. I did some research that some places add gratuity to the bill automatically. Saw a post on it from last year. I will for sure bring lots of sunscreen so I don't burn. I am a little scared of going in the water. I heard some areas have the nets for protection. Will try to plan it accordingly so I don't burn.
Wow. This was simply fantastic. I love the tips. Everything. The Aussie slang was funny to me as a westerner. And I noticed the Canada book on the table to your left. :) How's it going is very common here America and Canada. However, to hear "how's it gone" will throw us for a loop as that's not what we say here. And I won't even common on "thong". :)
I sometimes stay a night in Brisbane when I go out nightclubbing or arrived back from my overseas trip and I've stayed at The Point Hotel in Kangaroo Point. I highly recommend that hotel. It feels more homely, rooms are pretty, love Lamberts Restaurant and a short walk to the Story Bridge. Love your videos.

Hi. Amazing video thank you! How is the traffic in Brisbane? Were from NZ and hoping to travel to Bisbane around Nov. would you recommend renting a car in going around or is public transport better?
Really enjoyed this insightful video. Will be landing into Brisbane in March from London. You mentioned the things to be cautious of, just wanted to check as could not find on google, the 'face snakes'? The snakes and spiders we are terrified about. Staying in CDB and asked for a very high floor. Crazy question (sorry!), but can snakes get into apartments, like 20th floor? Thank you for a great video :D
Hahahaha face snakes is a joke my love 😊 Aussies love to play up to tourist fears about our wildlife and face snakes is a fun one we invented about snakes that wait inside bins and launch out at you. The chances of you actually even seeing a snake are incredibly slim and given they can’t use stairs or elevators very well I’d say you’re pretty safe on the 20th floor 😂♥️🙏🏼
Yeah, it can be expensive to eat out, huh! I'm always blown away by how affordable it is to eat out overseas, especially spots in South-East Asia. Amazing food and so affordable :)
