Oh jesus. Heres hoping they really shuffle the setlist on the U.S. leg but I'm not holding my breath. And I'm guessing a few new songs (1-2 tops). Nothing obscure from BFlowers (Ootw/TLs) or what have you

I saw the show last Saturday in San Diego and I was so happy to have found this today. I love all their new material and can’t wait for the album to come out. It is so special to have The Cure be the perfect Time Machine taking me back to the 80’s and simultaneously maybe the only thing I share with my 16-year-old son, who got the tickets for us. They are timeless and one of the truly Greatest. They graciously played all their popular songs, not the slightest annoyed to play it for the millionth’s time for us. The familiarity and memory of them is so deep engraved in my soul. The new material is just as captivating and beautiful. At the end, Robert J Smith was the last one going off stage, humbly bowing one more time. I felt like giving him a hug. I’m so glad to have seen them live for the first time!

It's easier to be faster than them because all the shows have been filmed and uploaded by fans and a lot of people have the technical capability of making download/uploading compilations at home within mere hours made from already existing footage whereas the band themselves would have to go through the recording, mixing and mastering process as well as all the blah with publishers, producers, engineers, artwork, credits, managers, promoters, physical-copy pressing plants (which are still massively delayed due to the covid shut-down thing), possible promotional material (videos, interviews, setting up tours, etc) and, of course, Robert Smith himself who, as we all probably know, is not the fastest to do or decide anything. 🙂

I remember thinking it was the end of the cure, in 1992. I've learned to never count them out.

This is probably gonna be their last album… and it’s gonna be their best. Amazing really as pretty much all other artists get worse with time. Especially song writers… Robert Smith is a f ing legend.
I know, right. Can you believe Robert is still writing material so good, so far into his career? Most bands this age are already doing their reunion shows at state fairs, but The Cure continue to sell out headline shows.

To be fair, the band have certainly had their 'slipping' creative period. Not everything they released has been high quality, but any band that exists for 4+ decades will have lesser efforts.

It feels like “It Can Never Be The Same” was reworked into some of the newer songs. Very similar themes of regret, loss, finality. My guess is the song might only exist as a studio demo and will end up on a reissue or rarities release.

RS & CREW They are great musicians but the " base" are RS !
Like a " musical joker" (Bowie, PGabriel, Alice cooper, MManson, Ramstein, and others, ( Glam Rock) him and Simon form the cure a diferent band on 80s, and consagration on 90s.
On the XXI century, the new generations admires him.
Maybe we are see, one of the Last Bands..... with great songs, from lonelyness , fears and sadness

I don't think that the song titled " I can never say goodbye" is correct because Robert says clearly "I could never say goodbye " with is logical
The title of the song, and the lyrics Robert sings, are two different things.
on the setlist of each shows, the title is exactly I CAN NEVER SAY GOODBYE
a cure fan/addict all my life but he really has now reached his end.....load of rubbish this stuff is and his voice has simply gone.....it was never great but now its gone...thank you robert for all the great songs of your past.....we all reach an end and need to realise when we have reached it.

Did you see them in the summer this year when they toured? I doubt you did.
I saw them 5 times this summer and Robert sounds great and the entire band sounds great. I really don't know why you say he doesn't sound as good as he used to because he hasn't lost anything.
His guitar playing is also great and he can nail those emotions. It really is surprising that a band 40 years into their career still sound this amazing.
If you are as big of a fan as you claim, I urge you to listen to these shows again. Go back and watch some of the other uploads from the summer, they really do sound amazing.
Honestly, he doesnt look like hes taking care of himself properly these days, but the one thing that remains perfect is his voice and guitar playing. So I really dont agree with you.

For me the Cure is the past and i will always love the past which they represented.. they are masters of musical nostalgia ...the sounds the band makes is exactly the same sound as Robert makes....i do admit it is a very special sound. been an addict since they were first formed but perhaps now i am cured.

There is also mention of a Robert Smith solo project, which he started teasing around the time he spoke of this album 2 years ago. I imagine there are also B-sides which will not make either final cut, so if you figure 1 Cure album, 1 Smith solo album, and outtakes from both, that's 3 albums worth, yes?

@@abee5824 because that song was a 4:13 Dream recording and Robert claims that band no longer exists which is why he won't release 4:14 Scream. The track list for SotLW is: Alone, Vanishingsong, ...and Nothing Lasts Forever, A Fragile Thing, I Can Never Say Goodbye, Feather and the Waves, Moonsong, Another (Happy) Birthday, No Care and Endsong.

ICNBTS Robert looks sharp in that jumper/sweater
Much as I love the Cure (and I have since ca 1981) I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed listening to these new songs... lyrically the writing feels lazy and uninspired to me, the same sentiments we've been hearing for the last decade or two.
When I think back to the originality of their work on Pornography or even Disintegration (both masterpieces so a little unfair I guess!) this new material pales... I'm not sure Robert has anything new to say anymore, so we seem to be getting rehashes of a pretty singular theme.
Obviously the band still sound amazing and put on a fantastic live show but I'm lowering my expectations for the new album, if and when it shows up. Very happy to be proven wrong though!
Even before lyrics, it's musically rather drab. Maybe except Endsong, but the intro is a bit too dragged out and repetitive.
