giyuu was young when his sister died and he say that he couldnt save her, he even says that he isnt worthy of being the water pillar after sabitos death, he doesnt show his emotion to anyone cause he think that he isnt worthy of smiling
What makes giyuu losing his sister worse than shinobu is four major things 1 he didn't have any involvement in the demon slayer corp 2 he was still rather young 3 she had pretty much raised him and 4 he saw his sister get killed by the demon while shinobu only saw her sister die from the wounds sustained by fighting the demon giyuu was there and couldn't save tsutaku while shinobu wasn't there and thus couldn't save her sister
This is sadder when you think about how this is probably the first time someone has believed baby Giyuu when he said his sister was killed by a demon 😭
