The thing that stuck to me most is when Sanemi said "Acting like you're the only one who has a tragic past" like yes, other hashiras have tragic pasts too but how I understand Giyuu is that it's because people have different ways of coping. Giyuu lost his sister. his only family left to a demon and when he told the villagers, they called him crazy and he escaped from his relatives i think that wanted to take him to a doctor. Then he met Urokodaki and Sabito and Makomo which then became his family. Like he said, Sabito and him became close cause they had similar pasts. And the thing is I think giyuu has like a survivor's guilt wherein he feels guilty about Sabito and Tsutako's deaths cause they both sacrificed themselves for him. He lost his loved one, found new ones but they died too (except for Urokodaki). It's like he rose from below only for him to be pushed back again, deeper, just after he was freshly healed. And like I said, different coping mechanisms because the hashiras all have different kinds of tragic pasts. Andddd, his whole "I'm not worthy to be a hashira" mindset came from the fact that he couldn't kill a single demon in the final selection and he had to be saved by Sabito so.. yeah.
