Jami, the Sisters of Mercy taught me and l will admit l received an awesome education. My parents and l moved to Dallas, Texas where l finished my last 4 years of high school. The education l received from the nuns could not be compaired to the education l had in my final 4 years in public schools. The public schools were at least 2 years behind what l had been already been taught in Texas.

When I was a kid, I loved paper dolls. We got the McCalls magazine and it had the Betsy McCall paper doll with clothes every month. I couldn't wait for the next month to come. I'm 73 but remember them so vividly. I like the rooms you're putting together. I'll get some but have to find a place to put them first.
Here in our village the Whistle still goes off at Noon Daily! Sunday Church bells as well. Born & raised Catholic. Church on Sundays & Catholic School (Uniforms) Mon- Fri. After graduating HS and moving out I was all churched out for many years. Unfortunately Sister Ann Kept asking for Tithes for my non profit Girl Scout Troop to meet there (Scouts are a non profit group) that ALL other places donate the use of their place for an hour for free. Never understood why money, was non-dismissive with her when it is about giving of self & of the parish. We would do their Gardens yearly and clean the church which brought some peace. Felt like we had to barter with her. Not a great feeling. Hoping it was just her. I now watch church online on Sundays. Speaking of Gifted. My daughter was in the top .02 percentile for NYS intelligent kids. She was then tested at John Hopkins Univ. to gain direction for her future. She got to do other cool things/programs to enrich her life. So proud of her. Anyhow have a blessed day Jami. Thank you for spending time with us. Such a blessing to us all.🌞💛🌞

I can't even imagine that level of religious education, Jami. Surely it must have been a deterrent in later life for many of those children. I know that I would never have chosen to continue on with religious studies after that kind of an experience.
Many upper class homes had what was called a refreshment bar in their living room ( or "sitting room" ). this held coffee tea and little snacks and cakes for the owners and guests. Those homes had a sitting room and a living room one for family one for entertaining guests.
You did an amazing job on the living room. And I enjoyed watching the whole vlog. If I wasn't watching the rerun, I would have loved to join in the convo. You have the best audience. Great comments. You are a special person Jami and so interesting. After you talked about your schooling, it made sense why you are so smart and disciplined. That was a lot to deal with at such a young age.

Ho from Abington, Ma. I went to parochial school all during the 1960's. We had our religion class every day and a children's Mass at 9 am on Sundays. On Fridays, one of the parish priests would come and give us our religion class.

Our local fire authority test their sirens every Tuesday at 7 pm. We didn’t get colour TV until 1975. First movie watched was South Pacific. The colour in that movie is terrible but it was a memorable experience.
The town I live in the siren goes off everyday at noon. I worked at Kmart in the cafe/deli. The cafe was at back of store and we served breakfast, lunch and dinner there. The deli was in front of the checkouts and we served popcorn, ice cream, soda, frozen coke, sub sandwiches and sliced ham.
So far I have the kitchen and a greenhouse. I have put together the kitchen so far. I love it. I promised my granddaughter that her and I would do the greenhouse together. My middle name is Lee. I saw Rolife kits in my Michaels. The teen girl bedroom , music room, garden shed, & flower shop are so cute. They had other sets too, but they are spendy. I do Diamond Dots, but smaller & less expensive ones.
The Mall Of America is fun to shop in. They have some duplicate stores on different levels. If I’m not mistaken there’s five stories. It’s huge. It will take you quite a while to get through it. All the food courts are yummy but like they might have two Victoria’s Secret stores they might have two sports stores the same ones and they do have duplicates because it’s so large and it’s right by the airport. If you were to fly in to the Minneapolis Saint Paul airport you could jump right on the trainand two stops away. It’ll let you off at the mall.
Here in Iowa the siren goes off at noon and 6 pm. the original reason this tradition was started was to tell farmers it was time to come out of the fields for meals. This started back before we had so much noise pollution and you could hear them for miles around.
I was a minister's daughter. People ask me did you ever have a drug problem I say yes I was drugged to church Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday some two to three times a day!!!!

I think I was about 10 or 12 when we git our first TV as a kid. It was a family gift from my grandma for Christmas..Was so excited, most of our neighbors had had one for a couple years..and was hard when those kids asked if I had seen this or that on TV, when we didn't have tv. times have sure changed now..and I'm still pretty Old fashioned..I don't have all that electronic stuff, don't understand it. my phone usually wins and does what it wants..lol. So I call my grandson and he fixes my problem and I go on.

Zellers was like K-mart in Canada. And the had a restaurant the sold really yummy food there too. We had K-mart in Canada too but I have little memories of it because it was in London ON. And that was a far drive for us. We only went when we visited family.

With so many Smithsonian facilities in Washington, DC, it would be a fantastic place to spend a week just touring all of them.

I’m watching later just got back from MOA as my kids high school got to stay open till 11 pm for Nickelodeon night on her school they all had a blast watching you and you say MOA. Over played out but I’ve been many times lol

Zellers was like K-mart in Canada. And the had a restaurant the sold really yummy food there too. We had K-mart in Canada too but I have little memories of it because it was in London ON. And that was a far drive for us. We only went when we visited family.
