Really nifty trick. Thank you for sharing insight. And I think what everyone is saying is that we appreciate you explaining everything in English despite it not being your first language. I love the accent, and I appreciate the special written explanatory note. Very clear!
Great demonstration, I just watched another video with a guy using a zoomed in camera to show a bug for a solid minute. Thanks for sticking to the subject lol good tips and techniques!
You are brilliant, thank you so much, have searched for a solution to repair my ribbon cable that I sliced in two when opening my keyboard (having spilt some coffee on it) with a pocket knife...Doh! stupid x 2. Thanks also for talking it through much easier than having subtitles. Greeting from Portugal
I watched all your videos and liked every single of them. Keep up the great work! I looked up how to fix a flex cable because I found a old phone from a friend. Friend bought a new screen for his phone, but the touch isn't working because the flex cable has a slight tear. Sucks! I will try to fix it with your technique (I have nothing to loose). Thank you!
Definitely will try to do that. My ffc went apart when dismounting campact camera. The ffc was from zoom motor. Thanks mate. Greetings from Poland 👍 You're the man
@@averagejoebitcoin I couldn't manage it so I ordered new part(two to be more precised) to replace the motor. It's working fine now. It is a bit louder then original but it work's

nice comment, I think his voice is funny too, but most importantly what it wasn't funny is the bunch of things I've wasted because of me ignoring this kind of fix could be done or was even posible. Thanks to Mr. Edy for sharing this clip, this is VERY USEFUL INFO.
Do you need some right temperature to do this? I've trashed a flex ribbon for a baby monitor LCD screen as the heating made the wire black and break them... So didn't worked for my case (even tinier strings and normal , non-reg temp iron)
This is the most common soldering iron - what temperature? - wait until it is completely hot. Then a single touch of a soldering iron will do just what you want. Of course If you hold soldering iron on wires - for long time, the wires will overheat and damage the insulation
Yes, of course it is possible to make a new cable according to your design, of course it is more expensive. If possible, it is easier to order a new one or repair the old one
@@eduardspp1 I broke a cable coming from the focus mechanism of a digital camera mistakenly. Since the cable is so thin, It seems very intense to work it with your technique. So do you have any different methods to apply for even tinier connectors?
@@jimmyjoe1488 I figure that's what I would end up doing if I tried it. Soldering ribbon cables looks like it takes pro level skill. Plus the cable isn't long enough for me to lay flat
@@eduardspp1 that what we love the most in your video: as simple as possible! Thanks for all your video, you are making the world a better place! (You have 2 new fans from France)
The solder looks so thick. Looks like you will have bridging between the individual circuits. Maybe try a liquid solder to get a little better definition.
from where are you? Your accent looks like diodegonewild (Czech) Please make make the kind of video like Louis Rossmann does (how to repair PCB, how circuit works...)
guys watch out not to touch the cable and dont make it too hot xD I burnt through the whole thing in a second. Have this feeling stuff like this needs godlike motoric skills ^^ Well whatever learn from mistakes and keep getting better ^^
I tried to resolder a ribbon cable that broke from a small mp3. unfortunately the rupture occurred right where the ribbon entered the LCD, so i didnt had sufficient soldering spaces to resolder the cable

Brief and to the point. Great tip. Unfortunately mine tore at a soldered connection - I wish they'd used a connector!

Fantastic work!!!!! can i ask what glue used to hold it down?
I use superglue, it is easy to remove from the glass later with a razor blade, and it helps the cable to not bend in the damaged area

will the large blob of solder cause any shorts?
this is probably a year late but as long as the blobs of solder dont intersect with another line then it should be just fine
