Love you bro! You get to the point as it should be. The blah..blah..blah of other reveiwers is annoying. I would say you are perfect! Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much Lawrence! Yeah, the Crooked River is such a good looking design. I've actually been thinking about ya because I know Covid has been especially devastating out by you lately, so it's good to hear from you.
Hi Jay. I love wood. Traditionals or fixed blades mostly but in the budget world in which i collect there is way more wood used than in high end modern knives. There are so many different woods to use. Nothing against other materials but wood just has a feel that is different. All the best.
Thanks for the video!💚 The only knife with a wooden handle I currently have is my good old buck 110 in s30v - but I’d like to have more in the future. The Benchmades you mentioned are really beautiful!
Jay u sneaky bugger 😆. I've watched your vids for couple yrs now and have been racking my brain trying to figure out where I've heard that computer noise into. STAR WARS..... Damn that had me going for awhile. Lol
Lol! Yep, you got it, probe droid in Empire Strikes Back. Nice job! I found and downloaded the mp4 file about 15 years ago (I think it was an mp3 file back then) because I intended to make it my ringtone on an old flip phone. Then I started this RUclips channel and the rest is history. Thanks for sticking around all these years!
I love the look of good hard wood scales. Not a huge fan of the pakka wood type scales though. I much prefer real solid wood, especially if it's burl wood. I think desert ironwood is my favorite, but cocobolo or rosewood are pretty good looking as well.
I love my north fork. It was my first benchmade. I feel like it's very under rated and has very good looks. I got the hidden canyon fixed blade to match it.
@da kunz it's fine. I use the sharpmaker. I never had any issue with any steel some just takes a little more time then others but nothing crazy.. Edit~ I take that back. Some super cheap blade steels have given me a issue.
Great looking knives, Jay. If I had to pick a favorite wood out of those, I think that sandalwood on the civivi is very nice. But if I was going to buy any knife on that list, I think it would be that grizzly creek. I really like your guthook mod. Have a great Sunday, buddy.
Thank you David! Yeah that Sandalwood is stunning on that Riffle. I've had that Grizzly Creek for a while now and at one point is was my favorite Benchmade.
I agree. I wish they'd do an Incite in 9Cr18Mov or 14C28N. BTW, I love the Petrified Fish PF719. It's set up like a gentleman's knife but snaps open and drops shut.
Another cool list Jay. Don't own any of the knives you featured in the vid and currently only own two knives with wood scales; a Buck 110, which is definitely not a fidget knife, and a TwoSun TS 134 in "burl wood", no idea what KIND of burl wood but whatever it is, it looks good. Will probably pick up a set of wood scales for my Gent although I'm not yet sure what wood I want for it. At any rate, I'm a sucker for nicely grained wood scales and it's a shame there's not that many knives available with them.
Thanks William! According to Wikipedia, a Burl is a deformed growth on a tree in result of some kind of stress or damage to it. Burlwood is highly sought after for woodworking. Your Gent would look great with some wood scales on it.
Can i include wood inlays? Yeah? Okay! Benchmade saibu. Love that thing. Love my real steel zebrawood slipjoint too. I guess a lot wouldnt consider slipjoints fidgety but i mess with it constantly when im carrying it.
Great video as always Jay. I do not own a wood handled knife. Wanted to get one on the Grizzly Ridge because I like the look of that knife. However when I went to get it they didn't have the wood version so I got it in a different scale. Was a mistake not that it is a bad knife by any means it is still great but just still missing the wood. I should have waited.
Man they got a great idea with that tape hook ! Not as good as yours with mod but clamshell pack opener/tape hook, it's just misnamed. The 4 inch blade is my jam, not that I don't own a few sub 3 inch blades but they are secondary carry. My hand on the ful size Feldspar looks more cramped than yours on that Benchmade. 3 & 3/4 to 4 inch is most comfortable for me.
Lol. I use that gut hook on everything but guts. Some of my favorite knives have blades right around the 3.7" mark. 3.75" is about my limit, 3.8" if I'm absolutely in love with the knife. Anything larger and I just look ridiculous wielding it. If I were a larger person, then I would totally carry a 4" blade.
Jay, You are out of control with the fidgeting. I’m just busting them but not a big fidgeter. My Fox Terzuola in Bacote wood is great. It’s a liner lock/thumb stud so not a great fidgeter but good knife. They make them in Olive, Ziricote and other wood but hard to find. I have a couple Mcusta in Ebony wood and an Olive wood. They do a lot of wood knives but again not big fidgeter. Almost forgot, have a BM 484 December 2013 Prototype (not 1st Prod). That’s a good fidgeter but hate that knife. Always a good video..
So many blades out there that would better fit classic wooden scales...in fact, many I would buy I refrain from because they don't have wooden scales. Is there anything more gaudy than a Damascus blade with a competing fleck carbon fibre scale set? ...Nothing is better for Damascus than a classic wooden scale, emphasizing the blade...A nice mirror or even satin blade emphasizes the wood grain. Don't even get me started on kydex and belt clips that are clunky and weigh as much as the knife...
Always makes my day when there is a Knife Beater notification. The QSP hawk is high on my want list.
I own 3 of um,, in verawood, shredded carbon fiber and blue micarta. All 3 are winners, great all around knife.
Hey thank you Ross! Yeah, it's such a great knife. Glad to see QSP made some affordable versions with Sandvik steel.
That Riffle is beautiful, love the idea for a Kwik Stud
Love you bro! You get to the point as it should be. The blah..blah..blah of other reveiwers is annoying. I would say you are perfect! Keep up the good work.
Thanks for another great list!
You bet Jon, thanks!
Don't need...want! Looking for these, so thanks!
I hear ya James. Thank you!
Can be a controversial topic, but in many cases wooden scales means a touch of class, imo.
Yeah, the wood scales do add a nice look to a knife.
Wood is good. Dig the cool old school looks. Gives a knife a different feel that I just love.
Hey Jay great video!
Love your collection Jay! My favourite would be the Crooked River. As always, thanks for another enlightening sharing!
Thanks so much Lawrence! Yeah, the Crooked River is such a good looking design. I've actually been thinking about ya because I know Covid has been especially devastating out by you lately, so it's good to hear from you.
@@TheKnifeBeater Yup, it sure is heating up here...we're going through the 3rd lockdown already! Take care and stay safe Bro!
Hi Jay Great theme l also love wooden scales. I have hawk and I want that north fork. I looks great.
Hey thank you Go! The North Fork never really got the attention it deserves.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
You bet Keith, thanks!
Love the looks of the wood brother kinda old school!
Yes, very well said.
There’s also a beautiful Civivi Elementum in Rosewood! ;)
Got to love the wood!
Yep, you're right, I totally forgot about the Rosewood version.
I believe they have discontinued the Rosewood unfortunately
Great video of course I would go with the north fork
Thank you Jay!
Hi Jay. I love wood. Traditionals or fixed blades mostly but in the budget world in which i collect there is way more wood used than in high end modern knives. There are so many different woods to use. Nothing against other materials but wood just has a feel that is different. All the best.
Thank you Don! I agree, wood just gives a knife that worn-in, vintage look to it. Civivi is one of the few brands that use it consistently.
Nice scales Jay! Thanks as always.
Edit : I love my Praxis! She's so beautiful!
Hey Dogan, thank you my friend!
What about the Odium?? 😂 nice list 👍🏻
Thanks Evan! Yeah, it's a great knife, I just don't have one in wood. It is a good looking version though.
Thanks for the video!💚
The only knife with a wooden handle I currently have is my good old buck 110 in s30v - but I’d like to have more in the future. The Benchmades you mentioned are really beautiful!
May have to get an Incite and the Hawk added to the collection! Loved the list Jay!!!👊🏻
Hey thank you Matt! Can't go wrong with either.
Nice stuff! Thanks! What happened to the Boker vid?
Jay u sneaky bugger 😆. I've watched your vids for couple yrs now and have been racking my brain trying to figure out where I've heard that computer noise into. STAR WARS..... Damn that had me going for awhile. Lol

I know what you mean Tim and you're right, natural wood looks so nice.
I just bought the full-sized Benchmade Crooked River. It's quite a bit larger than I expected. I might have to buy the "mini" version too!
Lol. Yeah, it's a big boy, but man is it beautiful.
Ow yiss! Nothing more beautiful than wooden scales!
Edit: Absolutely love that QSP Hawk. Saw your video on it comparing it to the Elementum. 👌🏻
Lol, I hear ya. Yeah the Hawk really is a great knife.
I love my north fork. It was my first benchmade. I feel like it's very under rated and has very good looks. I got the hidden canyon fixed blade to match it.
You're right about that, very underrated knife.
how is it to sharpen?
love the looks of the knive but don t know if the rounded blade is good for me
@da kunz it's fine. I use the sharpmaker. I never had any issue with any steel some just takes a little more time then others but nothing crazy..

Love the fun facts on source of these materials. I’ll take “Foreign Hard Woods” for $400 Jay 😂
Lol! Very good Ben!😆
Don't own a wood scaled knife, but I am going to be on the lookout for a budget one. Any leather handled folders out there? Great video!
Not that I know of, but I really like the idea! Maybe it could be used as inlays? Thank you Rich.

I've got the big Crooked River. Because I'm small... :o)
Lol. I came so close to buying one before the mini was released.
I have a Mossy Oak 1572240 pocket knife with a fake wood grain looking handle. But the knife is very nice looking.
I love your videos good sir! just got the twosun ts180 in 14c28n and "burl wood" handles, at ~$40, it's a great budget front flipper to check out!
Thanks so much Joel! Up until now, I only knew of the titanium version. I agree with ya, the one in Burlwood looks very nice.
Can i include wood inlays? Yeah? Okay! Benchmade saibu. Love that thing. Love my real steel zebrawood slipjoint too. I guess a lot wouldnt consider slipjoints fidgety but i mess with it constantly when im carrying it.
Lol. I know what you mean about slipjoints. While not technically a fidget knife, I'm always opening and closing mine anytime I carry one.
Sand it a little bit to expose the wood from the finish so that you can smell the sandal wood scent. 😉
Great video as always Jay. I do not own a wood handled knife. Wanted to get one on the Grizzly Ridge because I like the look of that knife. I am referring to the intro noise with the stickman figure at the beginning. Finally I watched that Star Wars with my kids and bam there it was. 😆
Hmm I am subscribed and watch all your videos but somehow missed this one. I really want a wood scale knife but haven’t found “the one” yet
Civivi still makes a nice product.

I have the Elementum in Cuibourtia wood and I like the look but I do not like the feel.
I've got the Elementum in that other wood- however you pronounce it...
Jay, You are out of control with the fidgeting. I’m just busting them but not a big fidgeter. My Fox Terzuola in Bacote wood is great. Thanks Thomas! Funny thing about that, I actually have more wooden knives that are non-fidgeters than the fidget friendly ones.
👍👍🤠🤠🎯🎯
Thank you!
@@TheKnifeBeater 👍👍
Really like the north fork but just can't accept the price tag of 180 dollars ughhh lil out of control.
Its allways about the wood
Lol, you got that right.
First 10 seconds.. “that’s what she said”
Yeah, I was wondering when someone would say that.

Great list Jay!! Love my Hawks and I'm carrying my Small Crooked River today.
Keep doin what you're doing!
Stay safe, stay sharp 👍🇺🇸👍🔪
Thanks so much! Nice carry choice, that's exactly what was in my pocket today too.
I did it with Woodglut.
