Maer hat❤. I'm a 50-year-old Bangladeshi father living in the UK. This is an authentic cooking channel, and I always enjoy watching her cook. I mostly make one-pot biryani, often following her recipes.
Looks gorgeous but you forgot the mother of all borthas, shutki bortha
Yes❤
Ekdam phataphati bharta gulo ...daroon.
Thanks for sharing this recipe.
That old hand remembers me of my grandma 😊🤍
Are the black seeds nigella seeds or black cumin? Coz I think they look more like nigella seeds. Kindly clarify!
That is Nigella seed also called as Kalo/Kali Jeera in bengali
Black cumin
It's black cumin, but Nigella seeds are close cousin
yes,this is nigella seed
Nigella seeds are kalijeera
Black cumin is Shahi Jeera

Omg that kalijira bhorta, what does it taste like, it must be intense 😮
No it tastes good 😊
It tastes really good with plain rice.
Also it’s great for preventing cold and flu.
You should have used Aam tel for alu bhorta.... Just next level❤
I'm going to try it soon.❤
You can also use ghee. Goes really well with Alu bhorta.
Wow!
If you are sylheti, then you can put the sylheti naga moris if you want more ✨flavor ✨

Did anybody try ghee instead of mustard oil with aloo or dal ❤
oh yes, i tried and it was equally amazing...but some how I prefer mustard oil for bhortas..
Oh ghee is awesome with alu bhorta, don’t think it’ll go well with dal bhorta though… gotta try.
Videos are better without Music.
Simply magnificent
Great insight into Bengali cuisine
Love the background music!
As a Westerner, i would make a fried pancetta and garlic, hand-smashed potato infused with olive oil, salt, grated cheese, crushed eggs and Italian parsley bhorta. Great vid.
Musturd oil is the key point as well as game changer of any bhorta
Follow her simple recipe. It works every time. Bhortas are actually a staple of Bengali cuisine. You’d hear all about big complex dishes like biriyani, ilish, meat and chicken curry but this is what we Bengalis grew up eating. There’s a bhorta almost everyday. It’s also a great way to make your children love vegetables.
2baar toh shrimp bhorta ho gaya 15bhorta recipe kaise hua
You are doing a great job for the society❤️ I was a hard core non vegetarian till I visited a farm and witnessed the horror of the dairy industry. The cow is inseminated painfully every 6 months so that calf is born. The calves are taken away immediately without a single drop of milk. The male calves are transported to the slaughterhouse to be killed on the very day. This process continues for some years till the cow is completely exhausted and later sold for meat. That’s the milk we consume. I literally had sleepless nights after watching the cows, their udders become so big they can’t even move. And they run to save their babies from going to the slaughterhouse.
Thank you for these recepies so that people can choose compassion in their plate instead of pain.
Traditional farming is not done like that. I think it’s the Western way of farming. We also have animal farming in Indian subcontinent but it’s much more humane. We don’t use artificial insemination, the cows are allowed to mate and wean their calves. The rest of the milk is of course harvested for human consumption. In the villages when people used to have their own animals, they’d use the bulls for ploughing the land and the cows will be taken to graze every once in a while. Of course some cows will be sold for meat but the butchering process isn’t also brutal like hitting in the head with hammer or suffocating like it is done in Western commercial meat industry. It’s almost like the cows and the calves and the bulls were part of the farmers family and they were raised with love and care.
But of course farming has changed now. There are many cows that are cooped up in one place and they are not allowed too much movement. But still thank God we don’t have things like force feeding and artificial insemination and taking the calves away from the mother etc. these are brutal.
I am not vegetarian, majority of Muslims are not. We also have a ritual where you have to sacrifice an animal as part of our faith. But we are taught to treat animals with kindness. Even while slaughtering them. We do eat them and that’s the cycle of life but no excuse to be cruel to them.
All are Too Yummy vortas 😋😋😋… Thank you aunty. Onk onk bochor Jio 🥰,,, Ar give us these kinds of Yum Yum Recipes 😋..

Kaki, what about kochu bata 😊
We usually don’t use shrimps in our Bhorta...they are delicious without Shrimp.
If you Don't like Flavour of Garlic, you can also skip it.
Without garlic, you can't make bhorta. Garlic, onions and mustard oil are a must
@@AR-bf7tm No. garlic onions are not must. Mustard oil is required. One can make according to his/her taste bud, liking & food choices. My parents never used this thing in any vorta but that too is delicious.
@hemloc.k depends on family to family & region to region.
Hindu bengalis not always eat garlic and onion, they have more simpler flavour specially for niramish food.

Did they miss the famous fish fry bhorta with raw onion, green chilli.😘
The famous fish I mean hilsha is rare to find outside of Bangladesh. I don’t think these people lives in Bangladesh, rather a Bangladeshi immigrant to a western country may be. So it’s understandable why they skipped ilish vorta which is the trademark of Bangladeshi cuisine.
@@aap9490actually ilish is more expensive in Bangladesh now compared to outside of the country.
We get Padma’s ilish for 30 usd here in the US. Comparing the average income of Bangladeshis and immigrant Americans, the price is really good here. In Bangladesh you could hardly get that ilish for the same amount. Now on top of that take in account that eating a 3000 take ilish is almost impossible for majority of Bangladeshis at home.
@@AkhtarM28 Yeah that you are right. I have been living in the US for the last 2 years for studies and the news I get from home and my dad, clearly the Bangladeshi syndicate and Hasina's oppressive policies and ilish politics with India has made it impossible for the common people of BD to get quality illish within an afforable price!
I just love any type of bharta
Thanks for showing me how to make different Bortha.

Where is ঘ্যাটকল/খারকোল পাতা bharta?
We Bangladeshis don’t have a vorta like that unless that is known by another name! Personally I have never heard of kharkol, don’t even know what that is! Lol Is there another commonly known name for it?
Thanks
