I am total beginner guitar player having only started learning to play about 6 months ago. It's true that much of what you are doing is over my head but even at 70, I'm learning so much from watching your videos. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks! Keep up the great work Tim!
Great stuff. You know what I would love to see is after a gig like that and you do the edit and see what you have, do an instructional segment at the end where you show how you play some of the cool parts of your playing. It is pretty safe to say we are all guitar geeks here and would love a few tips.
Hi Bro. Just wanted to say thanks to you (or whoever?...not sure?) for the channel membership. Not sure what it means, but thanks anyhow! Cute pup dude! I have always had a dog...the best!! As a young pup don't expect too much(except house training of course). You just want him to completely trust you, and long for your praise & affection. If you have that the rest comes pretty easy. Good luck!! 💙
Whenever you're using a backline amp, you never know what's going to happen. I was doing some shows in Chicago a while ago and the 60 watt Boogie they had for me had only one power tube. They told me it should be fine, but it was clipping early, they said they would fix it for the next gig but didn't and the amp blew at soundcheck. I had to play that gig going from my pedal board directly into the board... that never sounds right to me. Enjoyed the video, keep up the great work!
Cool Vlog, great playing. I really enjoyed what you were doing there. I noticed that when you were playing the Strat, you were almost entirely in first position pick up section. But it sounded really good. Not thin I like that.
Rando video ideas: what's in Lanco's show rider; Favorite & least favorite places you've personally played to date and why you liked/disliked them; (for newbie's like me) best course or way to start to learn guitar; maybe a co-video w/ Tripp with drums & guitar; how often you practice/play daily/weekly; a band you'd love to tour with & why; I could keep going but that's my 2 cents.
Would be cool to log each place the Silver Sky travels to. You could list each show on the guitar or case. You'll forget it all and look back later to jog your memory.
Have you considered going to a modeler like the ToneX or one of the many other options on the market? Then you have the tone you want in every room and don’t have to worry about getting a bum backline amp.
I’m currently deciding between a PRS SE Silver Sky in Piano Black or a Fender Brent Mason Signature Telecaster with B Bender. I work at guitar center so I get a great discount on either but still a difference of around $1700. I’m torn. i currently play a Silvertone 1478 with a Bigsby and I love it a lot but it really is more of a garage rock and blues rock killer, some new pickups could change that but I like their current configuration for that. As I’m getting more into jazz and chicken pickin, need something a bit more versatile. The Silver Sky looks like it would do the job and feels great in my hands, fan of the bigger neck, but the Brent Mason tele would be a definite lifer I’d pass on but unsure if I’m willing to spend that extra near $2K at this moment.
That's a hard choice, any of those will be amazing. Just from my experience I have both an american strat and I SE Silver Sky, both are awesome in their own right! I'd just say play as many as you can and when one speaks to you, you know you've got the one!
Thank you! I just switched from fender mediums to dunlop flow picks. I've been using the .73 mm and I really like them. I'm also a shoulder of the pick player so thats something to consider!
Great vid, appreciate seeing behind the scenes on the road; curious though - is there a reason you run wireless in particular? Looks like you're staying pretty close to your amp and board, just wondering....thanks!
He Tim; love your content . My name is Tim also and I am a utility player (guitar, flat top, and banjo. I was interested in the banjo also in your band , I would like to see his rig rundown including his pickup system to amplify his banjo. Thanks man 👍🏼🙌🏻❤️🩹
Hey Tim! Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. In one of my earlier vids I did a very brief rundown of his stuff but I’m happy in the next one to try and get a more detailed explanation!
I’m a big proponent of wireless. I know it influences the tone and sound, but people on the other side of the mic stand don’t know the difference between a cable and wireless. I just can’t stand the cable under my feet, getting it tangled on other things on stage (guitar stands, mic stands, pedal board). And inevitably it tangles up on itself. Don’t get me wrong, the witeless has its disadvantages too…but I feel free without the cable.
right after 9:15 I see you flip to the neck pickups and then on your downpick you knock it to center position. Was this intentional or just an accident that you roll with?

To my ears, the SE sounds better for this music. Been following this channel for a while and I'm really loving the gig vlogs. Keep up the great work!

Great playing! Man, problem with the amp & wireless & you still put on a Great Show! Thanks for taking us along!
I love this video. Awesome job Tim. You absolutely rock

as one dog lover to a new dog owner, alright! what a great dog! you've got a new friend there!
Hey thank you! Excited about him!
cool video man , I just bought one of those Silver Sky, will be waiting on Fed Ex tomorrow..OH YEA
Great to see you made it to Irving Texas, maybe one day you will come to Sherman, Texas - 65 miles north of Dallas.
I'm sure we'll be there at some point! We seem to be heading to Texas a lot!
So cool to see how you guys sound check. Great sound on the silver sky, too.
I’m glad you enjoyed that! Tried to give it an unfiltered look. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Love all the content Tim.
Hey Tim, cool to see your road videos, takes me back to being young. Reading LOTR? Have you read the Hobbit, super easy read and well worth it.

David some awesome ideas in here, I really needed some stuff like this. Thank you so much! Be on the lookout for stuff along these lines in the future

Great Idea Scott! I need to start doing this now because I think I've probably already forgot some places!
Guitar sounded righteous!!! Stetson is too!!
Hey Thank you! He Thanks you as well!
Digging the tour blogs, great stuff!!! When u soundchecked the first song, did you have the tumnus and belle on at the same time? Great tone!!!
Still love your road/gig videos. What did you think of the Silver Sky as primary?
Have you considered going to a modeler like the ToneX or one of the many other options on the market? Then you have the tone you want in every room and don’t have to worry about getting a bum backline amp.
Hey Tim! Do you think the SE Silver Sky needs to be plekked out of the box? Love your vlogs! 🎸🤘🏻
I don't think so! Never had it done to mine and it plays great!
What about showing a band rehearsel? :-)

Love your content. I just purchased a used SE Silver Sky because of you! Love it!! Also, what type of capo do you use? Thank you, Tim!
The antenna on that wireless is crazy long! Whoa. I’d be afraid I’d rip that off.
It is long Murray!
@ you could’ve stayed in Nashville with an antenna that long.
Pick Preference? I have been using these tiny Thick Jazz picks. I dig them. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

@@TimAvenMusic I mix it up based on sound we're going for. For country though the shoulder is fun. Bluegrass as well.
@@TimAvenMusic I think using the shoulder helps sweep a bit. Sounds awesome man. Love that little funk riff in the G position? It was a tasty groove.

Another great video! Did you ever do that teaching gig at your old school back home?
I'm about to over Thanksgiving!

Let us know the next time you’re in the DFW area
We will be early next year!

Tim are those the stock pickups in the Silver Sky?
🎸🐶🤠!
Tim, is there any certain riffs or songs you use to test the guitar and amp?
right after 9:15 I see you flip to the neck pickups and then on your downpick you knock it to center position. Was this intentional or just an accident that you roll with?
That was just an accident! Didn’t even notice till I went back to look at it
What song are yall rehearsing at aprox 12 min mark it fucking grooves my guy
It's called Sound Of A Saturday Night!
Who watches Stetson when you're on the road?
