Imho, most people is interested in the celebrity part of it all, and not so much about the craft and the human part.

I much prefer these interviews to see the person behind the celebrity, FAR more interesting! Thank you!

I wonder if Rose has ever read Kurt Vonnegut's Who Am I This Time. It is the story of two social misfits who connect through the characters they portray during a play.

i'm an aussie who moved to the US a few years ago and she's so right about the cultural differences. in australia it really is more "toughen up and lighten up" "have a stiff upper lip" while america seems more willing to talk about feelings and struggles and therapy etc.

This is so relatable. There has been other artists that have spoken about this being shy but not being scared when performing. Michael Jackson is one of them, Johnny Depp... Hell even me being a high school teacher. I am a shy person, but not when I’m teaching; it goes away. But again teaching sort of like performing

I guess we can deduce from this that Bobby Cannavale is a confident, extrovert person. Otherwise he wouldn't have stood a chance with Rose. Two shy people together are like poison. I'm shy, I know. None of you knows what to say, none of you knows how to get the other to open up. It's hell. A shy, insecure person (not necessarily an introvert person) needs a confident extrovert to lure them out of their shell.

The beauty of this show is that it humanises celebrities. It strips away our 1D view of them and helps us appreciate all the facets of being human and how relatable we all are.

I can totally relate to Rose Byrne’s fear of public speaking. I am a junior at the University of Arizona, studying history with a minor in government & public policy and international relations.
I have always been an introverted, quiet and reserved person. I have dealt with anxiety, panic attacks, and occasional but intense bouts of depression since high school
College level Spanish has been really hard for me to pass due to extreme test anxiety and my fear of public speaking. To another individual, a presentation in front of the class might seem like a no-brainer. But to me, presentations are absolutely mentally paralyzing. My mind goes blank, i lose all of my confidence, and completely crumble.

For me it's: Speaking on behalf of something that is important to me, something I wanna use my voice for - I'd love to speak in front of 30'000 people. Because with a large audience with only a few minutes you can reach so many with your message. On the other hand, most of the time I end up acting super weird and uncomfortable in social situations and I just wanna disappear if I'm in the spotlight when it's not about something outside of me. Also acting would mortify me. I would never wanna do a play.

The first time I saw her, it was in Troy. And I remember she instantly became one of my favorites because of her character's vulnerability. Now I see where it came from: she really is able to allow herself to be that vulnerable out of character. What a paradox that she can be so shy and yet so courageous at the same time.

The late great Ronnie Barker was exactly the same. He could do brilliant public speaking but only as a character, never himself.

I am exactly like her. I’m an amateur actor and I absolutely love performing. But I’m very shy personally. I am not a good extemporaneous speaker but if I have a prepared text I can do public speaking just fine. In fact, I get asked to frequently. But I couldn’t wing it for 20 minutes.

Clearly Vlad missed the part where she said she becomes nervous and inarticulate when she has to give a speech. Doing this interview isn’t exactly public speaking, but it’s in the same vein. Also, Vlad is an ass.
