I played the PS4 alpha these past three days. I’ve played every CoD starting with the original in 2003 and this has the best weapon animations and weapon sounds I’ve ever seen. Absolutely incredible.
MaXGTS1 been playing since big red one and that’s the biggest lie I’ve ever seen and is one of the reasons everyone gets disappointed. Hit scan was terrible, movement was clunky, game was campy and there wasn’t any skill gap in shooting because you can’t even see where you gun is goin

the missing link Motion capture relies on the movement of the actor and it’s “easier” Hand keyed animations relies on the imagination and talent / skill of the animator He has to key frame every movement by hand and it’s must look smooth and fluid That’s just a simple explanation though.
@the missing link everything is done by hand. This is just an example. But Motion Capture is like tracing a drawing. It's like recording someone reloading a gun and copying their movement into a 3D software like Maya. It doesn't take too long but every animator will refine the movement because Motion Capture is not always perfect because it has clipping. Hand-keyed is moving every single limb yourself and correctly placing the key frames so it looks believable and realistic. It's more time consuming but it's worth it.

@@otoyoto7153 Motion Capture is better... For Face and Body. Modern Warfare mocapped their actors body and face for the campaign so it looks realistic. They also Mocapped regular movements like running, sprinting and going prone for Multiplayer so they look realistic too. But yeah, like I said... They're only good for the body and face. They're really, really bad for hands and feet. In this case, animating the View-Model for the weapons is better to animate by hand than to mocap it. Naughty Dog have hand motion capture but it's only used for little movement. You can see it in action in The Last of Us Part 2 reveal trailer where Ellie is strumming the Guitar.

When i first saw the bo2 trailer i hated it because it looked futuristic but after playing it it became my favorite cod and i still play it. I played mw alfa and i can say that this game looks extremely promising

It's really impressive on their part, but I wonder why they didn't mocap it. The animations could be more realistic, while saving the studio time. And if they didn't have the over the top flair they wanted by using mocap I assume it could easily be added in manually afterwards

i hate when people try to compare Escape from Tarkov and Insurgency Sandstorm to MW19 level of animation. the animation in those games are all about aesthetics and trying to get the player to look at how pretty the animations look (thats why they're slow). MW19 is just fuck you, straight to the point, but somehow make it looks sooooooo damn fucking good at the same time.

I've played every cod every year and have just about hated it all dating back to BO2. This feels much more realistic, the sound design is far superior, the guns feels more powerful and realistic. free alpha, just give it a shot. this is coming from someone who absolutely despised CoD after it's downfall from MW3 onwards.

Just looked this dude up and he was the original Griggs in CoD 4. He left Infinity Ward in 2010 to join Respawn, and then came back to IW to work on the latest Modern Warfares!

I played the PS4 alpha these past three days. I’ve played every CoD starting with the original in 2003 and this has the best weapon animations and weapon sounds I’ve ever seen. Absolutely incredible.
MaXGTS1 been playing since big red one and that’s the biggest lie I’ve ever seen and is one of the reasons everyone gets disappointed. Hit scan was terrible, movement was clunky, game was campy and there wasn’t any skill gap in shooting because you can’t even see where you gun is goin

Hand keyed animations relies on the imagination and talent / skill of the animator
He has to key frame every movement by hand and it’s must look smooth and fluid
That’s just a simple explanation though.

This is just an example.
But Motion Capture is like tracing a drawing.
It's like recording someone reloading a gun and copying their movement into a 3D software like Maya. It doesn't take too long but every animator will refine the movement because Motion Capture is not always perfect because it has clipping.
Hand-keyed is moving every single limb yourself and correctly placing the key frames so it looks believable and realistic.
It's more time consuming but it's worth it.

Modern Warfare mocapped their actors body and face for the campaign so it looks realistic. They also Mocapped regular movements like running, sprinting and going prone for Multiplayer so they look realistic too.
But yeah, like I said... They're only good for the body and face.
They're really, really bad for hands and feet.
In this case, animating the View-Model for the weapons is better to animate by hand than to mocap it.
Naughty Dog have hand motion capture but it's only used for little movement. You can see it in action in The Last of Us Part 2 reveal trailer where Ellie is strumming the Guitar.

mocap is only good on games that tell heavy stories like MGS4 or Uncharted ETC...

What guns don't? Im trying to figure this out. I've shot everything from simple handguns to high caliber rifles and machine guns and they consistently have flash lol. The smoke in this footage is exaggerated if anything. Guns smoke but these guns just spew smoke like a kyle with his vape

It's really impressive on their part, but I wonder why they didn't mocap it. The animations could be more realistic, while saving the studio time. And if they didn't have the over the top flair they wanted by using mocap I assume it could easily be added in manually afterwards

i hate when people try to compare Escape from Tarkov and Insurgency Sandstorm to MW19 level of animation. the animation in those games are all about aesthetics and trying to get the player to look at how pretty the animations look (thats why they're slow). MW19 is just fuck you, straight to the point, but somehow make it looks sooooooo damn fucking good at the same time.

I've played every cod every year and have just about hated it all dating back to BO2. This feels much more realistic, the sound design is far superior, the guns feels more powerful and realistic. free alpha, just give it a shot. this is coming from someone who absolutely despised CoD after it's downfall from MW3 onwards.
