    Hi Elyse, Thanks so much for making the video, it was really helpful. I have a question concerning the dryer. When I fluff wool clothing for a few minutes after laying them it to dry, dust clings to all the plastic surfaces inside the dryer and around the opening. I always found this really annoying, and usually vacuum the dust so that it does not get on the clothes when I remove them. Have you had this experience, and is there any way to remedy it? Thank you, Paolo

    This is a great machine, and the efficiency benefits are large, but our T1 died at 10 months (offline for 59 days and counting), and Miele service has been awful. There really aren't enough expletives to describe the experience.

    My 6yr old Miele washer dryer has just gone for recycling.
    Cost me £1600 6yrs ago and worked perfectly fine for 3yrs without any issues.
    After 4 yrs (1 Yr out of the 3yr warranty) the twin dos system started to leak fluid and a fault flagged up... £400 later with a new dos canister unit and new dos circuit board it was running again.
    18mths on it now requires a new washing detergent draw housing as the original is leaking when the water is passes through it... causing the flood warning to turn off the machine... which would have cost a further £362 to replace.
    Twenty years my arse... Anything that requires best part of £800 spending every 2 yrs would last 20yrs.
    Complete rip off the price of Miele products... So never again...
    Bosch has taken it's place and for the price if it lasts 6yrs i will be happy.

      I agree, the alleged twenty year life span is nothing but marketing hype.
      Over $2000- for a machine that failed catastrophically after just nine years, while suffering horrifically inside for several years prior to failure, all because of an imbecile’s cost cutting decision making the internal drum support out of cast aluminum. It suffered severe galvanic corrosion, impregnated out clothes, towels and bed sheets with aluminum and aluminum oxide for years then shattered during the high speed spin cycle.
      Miele corporate, didn’t want to hear anything about it, couldn’t care less.
      I will never buy a Miele again.

      I can do one for you, they're not worth the money.
      I had a dual Washer/Dryer when I lived in Singapore for a few months back in 2016. Can't remember the brand, it was in the apartment when I moved in, possibly Samsung?
      Doesn't matter, the wash/dry cycle took over 4 hours, almost 5. Once the wash is finished, there's a long, long, long time before the drying starts while the drum dries itself out and the clothes just sit there locked in.
      The time it takes just isn't as convenient as just putting your clothes in a separate drying machine, I could have dried it in the Singapore heat outside in less time if the drum didn't lock my clothes in. Plus the energy cost to run the washer so long really starts to add up. Especially when you could wash, then dry, using two machines, in under 2 hours.
      Sure it was convenient for the small space, I don't think there was even enough room for a dryer in my tiny rental apartment. But apart from that, I can't recommend a dual washer/dryer simply for the washing time, and the crazy cost of running the machine half the night. If you know Singapore you know it's hot and humid, you'll sweat like crazy, and you'll be doing daily washing. It wasn't a lot of fun waiting till after midnight for the machine to stop making noises so I could sleep every single night.
      In short, do yourself a favour if the room in your place allows it, and just buy two separate machines.

    • @timobert6597
      @timobert6597 Год назад +1

      @@VitZ9 thanks! We actually lived in London for a couple of years and had one there too. We're renovating our laundry space here in the US, and we'll have separate machines in there, but I wanted to get a third machine in our closet that does both - it doesn't work well for everything, but it was great for putting in a load of socks/underware etc. at bedtime and waking up to clean and dry clothes.

      Yes I had one when I lived in Glasgow about 30-years ago and when we were looking for a new set my now husband was freaking out! He was incredulous! He was like who knew this even existed. When I was telling him about the machine it was like a Monty Python skit. But the unvented dryer is such a drawback. To go back to a dryer that doesn’t steam for me is a definite no go. I will never go back and you can’t get a steam dryer in an all-in-one unit. Best of luck.

    Question regarding the washers w/TwinDos. Can you disable the TwinDos on certain loads? By this I mean, the TwinDos detergent I assume is a standard soap detergent suitable for most cotton and permanent press garments. We wear and wash a lot of merino wool, alpaca and similar that we run on “delicate” cycles in our current LG with wool detergent. If the TwinDos models can also accommodate the CapDos units and disable the TwinDos from usage on select cycles, that’s ideal. We also do not use fabric softener on wool cycles, it’s typically not recommended by the apparel manufacturer. Can this too be disabled for those loads. If so, does this require creating special program? What model numbers are applicable?
    Thank you

    • @pctomactechtalk
      @pctomactechtalk Год назад

      Yes, you have three choices on the TwinDos models: TwinDos detergents (they sell a couple different types depending on where you live in the world), CapDos for the "special" laundry loads and using the regular detergent compartment. There are buttons of the front panel to select which detergent compartment you want to use so you don't need to remove the TwinDos containers when not being used.

    • @aammssaamm
      @aammssaamm Год назад

      You can, but the machine comes with a highly allergenic UltraPhase 1 detergent, so your machine and everything in and around it will be smelling with that stink. Cleaning and replacing with Sensitive one does not help as the TwinDos pipes are already contaminated.

    My Miele washer from about 2008 worked flawlessly. I thought it had a bad main bearing but turns out it was just the shock absorbers which were cheap and easy to replace. I checked the main bearing and both it and the seal were totally intact. However, before I tore it apart and found all this out, I bought a new W1. It's very disappointing because unlike the old one ,this new one fails on two points. If you try to use the prewash function, it faults after the prewash but before it goes to the main wash. It throws an "intake error" code. It also fails on the "add laundry" function. Half the time it won't even let you add laundry. When it does allow you to add laundry, and you press the start button to resume the program, it throws the "intake error" fault code. My retailer took it back and brought a replacement and it functions exactly the same! This certainly appears to be a design flaw. When you open the door it drips down the front of the machine, my old one didn't do that. I still have the old one and may put it back in service. I was a rabid Miele fan before this, I have a dishwasher from the mid 2000's and it still works flawlessly. But this W1 washer is a sad specimen. And my old Miele Touchtronic dryer still works perfectly. I won't change it out for a new one ever as long as I can get parts for it.

      Not necessarily -- it depends on the items. I can wash a blanket or set of sheets that fill the whole washer and dry it fine. With clothing, I usually want to give items more space to tumble. Not a problem for me since I air-dry lots of my clothes. I did a full load of my husband's jeans and pants (7-8 pairs) last night and they dried just fine.
