Now keep in mind that this was a fishing trip with a father/son and good friend. These guys had little to no fishing experience so the goal was to introduce these guys to fishing and get them on some fish. Needless to say Noah did not like holding the fish. Unfortunately it's not for everyone.
I don't always use light tackle but I typically use it when drifting. Some times the presentation of the bait seems more natural on light tackle. I don't keep the drag too lose but also not too tight. I try to be extra careful on light tackle when catching catfish. I usually adjust the drag according to the strength and size of the fish.
I am your friend from Syria, I live in the state of Turkey, and I am a fan of your channel and fishing. I hope to meet you one day with all the love and respect for you, my friend.
I live here in Chattanooga and I just happened to have this channel pop up in my recommendations. I miss fishing so much. My dad and I used to go hunting and fishing all of the time when I was a kid. It's probably been at least 20 years since I've been fishing. I would love to go again. Hopefully it'll be soon.
Hate to say it but I can guarantee he does not know what pliers are... I love getting people on their first hunt or fish but it kinda chaps my you know what when its not appreciated. You did a great job with these fellows
I like the idea of just putting new fishermen onto fish. That's the first step. Noah may grow to like grabbing the fish later. My kids didn't like it first, but they take the fish off the hook now!
Great video!! When Noah caught the drum, it reminded me of a fishing trip I went on with my friend where he caught a 13lb drum. Keep up the great work!!
Way to show those rookies the ropes Joe....People think I'm lying when I tell them that chicken breast is a great catfish bait...You showed em...I might have to try that shallow free lining..Looks pretty effective...
I used to go fishing for marlin, mahi-mahi, tuna, etc, with my brother, but it's been like a year or so that I don't go fishing. Had surgery in my neck and still hurst a lot. I prefer this kind of fishing. Lot of action, and you don't have to be hours in a boat with rough seas... I posted a video years ago fishing mahi-mahi or dorado. I don't do saltwater fishing anymore, but my brother still goes. Caught a few big swordfish last year.
Like your videos man.. This is awesome of you teaching these guys to fish... I thought it was funny when Phil said Oh its so slimmey.. Lol . Kind of like a kid learning to fish. Keep up the good work..
Never caught a striper doing this but I'm sure they will hit it, haha. I do better drifting like this in the spring and summer, especially when the water is low. The drift is maybe around 200 yards. Plenty of fish to be caught. It's like a catfish factory out there.
How often are you up at chick or watts bar? My dad, cousin and I usually hit watts bar or the hiwassee on highway 58. Chick may have to be our next trip I'd love to meet up someday and learn a thing or 2 lol
I fish Chickamauga and Watts Bar from time to time. I've never fished the Hiwassee. I would like to some day. I believe the state record flathead catfish came from the Hiwassee.
I learned about chicken years ago and have caught some nice cats using it. Always use the dark meat cut in strips and I let it marinate in chicken liver blood. The best thing about chicken is it stays on the hook.
Love your videos. Where I live, catfish aren't too big. Biggest one I saw was around 4-5 pounds. Ten years ago, more or less, I was fishing with two friends (one of them never went fishing before), using light tackle. Something got my bait, I started pulling it, tought the hook was snagged, and when it came closer, it was the biggest catfish I ever saw! Something like 40 inches or so (thats pretty big here). When it came closer to the boat, it started running. Fought the fish like 5 minutes ( I was using 8 pounds line), and one of my friends told the other one "help him". Before I could say anything, the guy grabbed the line and pulled... You know what happened... I was screaming and wanted to kill him! I never EVER got a catfish like that one... I still get angry everytime I remember that...
I enjoy catfishing. The big thing we have to do as fishermen is introduce people to it. Not everyone will like it. It's just how it is. Thanks for watching.
Muhammad Sukri fishing isn't about luck it's knowledge if you know what they eat where they eat it and are there offering a very similar meal they will eat it
I'm going to have to try that chicken breast trick so no weight just a hook and chicken will that work for fishing from the shore also... great videos tight line
Hey Terry! I'm not sure about free lining it from the bank unless it's pretty shallow. This works best when drift fishing from a boat. I have caught catfish on chicken on a carolina rig while anchor fishing. Thanks for watching.
This fish called "Ikan Patin" in Malaysia. The best dishes when it combine with "Tempoyak". The dishes name was "Masak Lemak Cili Api Tempoyak" and "Asam Tempoyak". Im sure you will like it more than Big Mac bro. 😂😂😂
how come y'all free line and don't use any weight? I see it's working but why is it better than using weight? also is this technique only used in rivers with heavy current or can you use it in lakes too
The free-line technique works best in swift water but not too swift. The depth is 6-10 feet, so the weight of the chicken brings it to the bottom. Also, the bait cuts in the water really good, bringing a more natural presentation in the water. I use sinkers when I am anchor and suspend drifting.
I hated fishing it's boring and now I am 13 I love it it's not for everyone right away give him a little and if he don't like leave him alone it's not for everyone
if you incorporated wrestling more into your videos. i feel like you could introduce more people to the sport of fishing. then again usually if you wrestle you do outdoor things. wrestler from iowa. all i'm saying is it would be cool if you talked about it a bit.
Is he left or right handed. May need to buy him a spinning reel and some starter tackle. Teach depending on his writing hand put the handle on that side. Now on rareness may want to experiment on what feels comfortable. Need to teach how feel the spool. Does he like tackle boxes or tackle bags. Get him set up at bass pro shop. Or gander mountain. Bass pro has rewards points card not a credit card. After buying stuff his points add up and can use for free stuff I use mine for baits line.
It was a great catch and a fun family outing, for sure, but that kid needs to man up regardless. What would he do if someone on the boat was badly hurt and needed assistance? A boy his age shouldn't be scared or squeamish to touch a fish...
I think you need to check your facts... they have spines and teeth but poisonous? Sorry dude, simply not true. Besides, he said it was gross and cringed... he wasn't scared of it. Besides, if it was dangerous in sure the adults in the boat wouldn't have been encouraging him to hold it for a picture. Chatt cats is a good guy and wouldn't endanger his passengers. Especially ones he is trying to get into fishing.
Too many besides.... sorry for the poor diction. Not trying to start anything, just think you and everyone else should know that in no way is a freshwater drum poisonous...

Chatt Cats Fishing why do you always use light tackle and keep the drag way down
I don't always use light tackle but I typically use it when drifting. Some times the presentation of the bait seems more natural on light tackle. Hope you can make some time and go fishing. I'm sure it will bring back some great memories!
Hate to say it but I can guarantee he does not know what pliers are... I love getting people on their first hunt or fish but it kinda chaps my you know what when its not appreciated. You did a great job with these fellows
Thanks for watching man! I think he appreciated it and found out it that it wasn't his cup of tea.
BobbyGuyFilms I totally agree
I like the idea of just putting new fishermen onto fish. That's the first step. Noah may grow to like grabbing the fish later. My kids didn't like it first, but they take the fish off the hook now!
I agree 100%. It just takes time. Thanks for watching. Tight lines!
Great video!! When Noah caught the drum, it reminded me of a fishing trip I went on with my friend where he caught a 13lb drum. Keep up the great work!!
Drum fight hard!
Way to show those rookies the ropes Joe....People think I'm lying when I tell them that chicken breast is a great catfish bait...You showed em...I might have to try that shallow free lining..Looks pretty effective...
It pays off!
great sense of humor bud keep them coming ill be watching
Thanks.

Love your channnel I love to catfish im glad you put these videos up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Welcome to the channel! Tight lines and FISH ON!
try rocket fishing rod fish
Do you find any stripers stupid enough to hit the chicken?? How long is that drift / free line bite good at the dam, all spring or until late May?
Never caught a striper doing this but I'm sure they will hit it, haha. I do better drifting like this in the spring and summer, especially when the water is low. The drift is maybe around 200 yards. Plenty of fish to be caught. It's like a catfish factory out there.
That is awesome! No worries of finding and catching bait. That will be my "back-up" bait when I ride out there in a couple of weeks! Nice video!
Those were some nice fish. I really am looking forward to our fishing trip with you Saturday.
Me too!
Love the video!!!! Don't stop fishing
Thanks for watching.
How often are you up at chick or watts bar? My dad, cousin and I usually hit watts bar or the hiwassee on highway 58. Chick may have to be our next trip I'd love to meet up someday and learn a thing or 2 lol

Take it easy on the kid... The dude doesn't fish... No reason to beat up on him
Totally agree🙌
Another great video joe!
Thanks, Hank!
yall should do like a fishing day with fans bc i would 100% come
That's a good idea.
So fun watching city boys fish. Maybe they get out and do it more now
Nice drum! They're good fighters.
Yes, especially on light tackle.
nice to see you releasing the cats....
great video Joe , I went last night caught 2 channel cats at Cypress Creek .
Channel cats are great fighters! Nice job!
Some times the best day of fishing is watching a kid catch one.
I learned about chicken years ago and have caught some nice cats using it. Always use the dark meat cut in strips and I let it marinate in chicken liver blood. The best thing about chicken is it stays on the hook.
They will bite just about anything you can hang on a hook when they are active
i didnt realize the water was so shallow that close to the dam....good info
Gets pretty shallow when the water is down. Thanks for watching.

The one that got away...I have stories like that too.
Dang y'all did great on the water that day !!! So you are using plain chicken?? nothing added??
Country Girl Catfishing that what I want to know to
You really need some garlic powder!
Obviously at one point they had to cut up chicken. Right out the pack
We used chicken breast and cut it into pieces.
Not many men left in this sissified world
Catfish Heaven for real
Catfish Heaven your right it's sad to see men that can't fish and say shit like eww there slimy..
I enjoy catfishing. The big thing we have to do as fishermen is introduce people to it. Not everyone will like it. It's just how it is. Thanks for watching.
sooooo true.
Fishing is a sport for everyone
like the guy with the UT hat.... Go Vols
another good video tight lines
Thanks, James!
i like all your video bro. nice job
Thanks!
I like fishing bro, but rarely can't get fish....hahaha
I thinl I'm out of luck bro.
Muhammad Sukri fishing isn't about luck it's knowledge if you know what they eat where they eat it and are there offering a very similar meal they will eat it
never seen a guy gross out on holding a fish, lol
Wasn't his cup of tea but at least he tried.
Yeah, but it was still funny!
My friend makes me unhook his fish
Topher Vogt I’m so sorry
good video but I keep a lot of my fish to eat and you have a lot more patients then I do with new people teaching them how to fish keep it up
I am a teacher. It comes with the territory. Thanks for watching.
I caught a 12 pound drum there last week
That's awesome! They fight great on light tackle.
I am watching from Elmira NY we have big catfish in the Chemung river
Nice!
Thanks for watching!
This fish called "Ikan Patin" in Malaysia. The best dishes when it combine with "Tempoyak". The dishes name was "Masak Lemak Cili Api Tempoyak" and "Asam Tempoyak". Im sure you will like it more than Big Mac bro. 😂😂😂
Zamiera Homes Nobody ask what the fish is called in Spanish.
17:53 the whiskers on that one!!
It was a good fish.
They threw back 16 1/2 pounds of perfect fried catfish??
I typically release all fish over 10 lbs. The good eating size ones are between 0-10 lbs. Thanks for watching.
Chatt Cats Fishing 0 lb cats taste the best
Looks like a great time was had by all.
It was fun.
Malaysian way to catch the catfish is use the chickens' intestines
Do you ever catch baby flatheads 12" or less? Is there any particular spot below the dam you'd suggest?
They are pretty hard to find under 12" I suggest fishing near rip rap along the bank
what brand of hooks do you use, because I like to use the same typen but I use mustad and after a big fish they are pretty bend out !!
Team Catfish and Eagle Claw
Love it!
CHATTCATS FISHING BY GOD!!!!!! I LOVE IT...OH DAD!!!
great video ! any tips for a new fisherman youtuber?
Thanks. Keep posting videos and try to do a collaboration with a bigger channel to help you get going.
I was your 245 subscriber
Awesome! Thanks for the loyal support, brother! Tight lines!
"What you want me to do ? a magic trick " hahahahahahah
Do you set your drag loss so they can just take it and you pull and you would have him
We were using light line so I keep the drag a little loose. Thanks for watching.
I give him kudos for trying.🤗👌🤛🏻
how come y'all free line and don't use any weight? I see it's working but why is it better than using weight? also is this technique only used in rivers with heavy current or can you use it in lakes too
The free-line technique works best in swift water but not too swift. The depth is 6-10 feet, so the weight of the chicken brings it to the bottom. Also, the bait cuts in the water really good, bringing a more natural presentation in the water. I use sinkers when I am anchor and suspend drifting.
Chatt Cats Fishing OK that makes sense
Cool Vids!!!
Thanks, Parker!
You might have to teach him how to be a man and hold a fish before you teach him how to catch them
Nathan Rudd lmao right he said was gonna throw up. How? It's just a fish
say turd, imean tard
who goin grab it for him wen he do catch one
hahahaha. viet cong. hahaha
gewd one 👊
Have to catch them first ya know....
well shoot , I'll msg u when I'm stateside..nice fish!!.......ps can u do a video on stripers?
I'll try and get one out. Thanks for watching.
Hunting and fishing isn't for everyone. Many people doesn't like to sweat, get their hands dirty, and wake up early. Noah looks like one of them.
It was a learning experience for him. He tried.
Go Vols!
First fish... Oooh, a shark!? lol
So we're you basically dragging these baits or were any suspended?
Little bit of both. All depends on where the bait was placed. The depth was 7-9 ft.
just regular chicken from the store? and how did you bait it up?
Yep just chicken breast from the grocery. Just cut it into different pieces and put on a hook.
So what you going to take home, just the picture and no fish?
I typically release all fish I catch. It's more of a sport to me. Thanks for watching!
If you reel in with drag then you get line twist(incase you care lol)
thanks for the tips
Glad to help.
arent those the same holes you were fishing in your other video lol
In this video, we were drifting the tailwaters below the dam. In the other video I was fishing in the spillway holes.
Drum are awesome eating. Snow white meat and big bones. Like big bluegill.
I'll have to try it some time.
I've been fishing for awhile, and I still wear gloves when taking the fish off the hook.
Dude said it was a shark 😂😂😂
Haha.
East Tennessee Fishing wtf that is funny
I hated fishing it's boring and now I am 13 I love it it's not for everyone right away give him a little and if he don't like leave him alone it's not for everyone
Tighten down the drags guys......or quit reeling while drag is being pulled......you will develop line twists that way.
That's true! Good point! These guys were beginners. We all start somewhere. Thanks for watching.
chatt catts im fishing at 1 and 2 today are u ganna be out i want to meet u
chicken breasts?? does that work good..i use livers but its hard to keep on
Yes. Chicken breasts works great. Lots of action with it.
nice..do you have to do anything special with breasts?leave it sit out of anything? i live near philly and fish the skook..never tried chicken breast
Oh dad!!!
You should fish in Antarctica
That wold be an epic trip!
if you incorporated wrestling more into your videos. i feel like you could introduce more people to the sport of fishing. then again usually if you wrestle you do outdoor things. wrestler from iowa. all i'm saying is it would be cool if you talked about it a bit.
Will do. Iowa has some of the best wrestling in the country.
This is why I refuse to have people on my boat. I couldn't deal with that at all.
He wasn't a big fan of the fishing. But at least he gave it a shot.
a Onde vocês estão pescando e em uma hidroelétrica e?
Yes, it is a hyrdoelectric dam in Chattanooga, TN. This is below Chickamauga Dam.
Chatt Cats Fishing Obrigado pela atenção amigo
didn't know you can use chicken breast for catfish. I thought only chicken livers was acceptable
Raw chicken works great!
thin a cpl of these guys might be a little light in the loafers if ya know what I mean wink wink
It was a great catch and a fun family outing, for sure, but that kid needs to man up regardless. What would he do if someone on the boat was badly hurt and needed assistance? A boy his age shouldn't be scared or squeamish to touch a fish...
FishSnatchers Incorporated TV I Do not blame him they are poisonous so...
Dennis Pyeatt oh either way I was joking but cool hope he has fun in college
Chattanooga
Great video Joe. Sorry about the gay comments in this. But youtube is free and they attract idiots. Can't wait for the next one.
Thanks for watching, Peter!
what is a good all around average go too circle hook sir
size of hook
I use 8/0 double action circle hooks when anchor fishing. When drift fishing I use 4/0 or 5/0 kahle hooks
Peter Nunnery I agree there are bad people on RUclips but come on that kid was sitting on his phone at the end I hate to say it but gayyyyyyyyyyy!
I have that first rod
Do those work like pliers?
The fish grippers work like pliers when pulling it apart
This guy is so bossy
Haha. I try not to. The guys I took fishing were beginners so there was a lot of teaching and coaching involved. Thanks for watching.
It's Tyler from dude perfect
haha
The kid was so awkward he kind of acted like a gay guy
"Is it like being onto a single leg?"😂 I'd rather reel in a fish any day #gotdoubles?
Haha, wrestling with fish.

They were all good eating size.

Cool vid buddy 👍🏼
Thanks for watching!
this is a good bait but brings in alot of yellow bellys
There are days when all you get are channels, especially in the summer. And then there are days when you catch blues. The better quality ones are mostly caught in March/April.
8 ft isn't very shallow
