I'm quick to email my teachers about my child and let them know if I find out something different from this teacher than what you told me than you gone be in even more trouble. Parents have to stay on top of these kids and teachers appeciate you being involved then you'll be able to work together and your child will be more inclined to behave since you have a repor with the teacher and they will contact you if there are any issues.
My thing is, were they sending out calls and text to the parents when they skipped class? My school was calling and leaving that voice mail quick and say what periods you missed.
