Absolutely the Best TA to date! I gave every faction a try, and then settled on: Death Guard. I just recently got Typhus, so I was really impressed with their ability to work together. I was able to claim the Final Event Crate, and only had a few losses. But, for me, I'll be waiting for this TA mode again. Definitely a much better format, and more engaging for players. Thanks Nox, can't wait to see what you have in store for your next video.
Faction wars was an interesting change! Thematically I loved it, and try new characters was neat. I did find the balance to be significantly worse than normal TA though, and the teams less diverse - mostly just faced Tau and Orks over and over. Never saw Imperial Guard once. The idea was brilliant but I hope they give the implementation a facelift. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as regular TA, but I suspect Faction Wars pairing with powerups was part of the issue as it favoured some factions massively.
I mostly ran Black Legion, had heaps of fun. Angrax just soaked up damage while everyone slowly sauntered in. Ran WE a few times, had a lot of fun with them, too
Thanks for this video Nox. I played World Eaters & found that Wrask & Azkhor were often overlooked by opponents rightly fearful of Kharn. I'm really looking forward to you exploring how each faction works in this mode.
Ended up 313, but i was playing uncommon only. Had a load of fun and agree with everything you said. I was even playing casual! Played Tau and DA Tau is my main faction and they are very versatile. Re'Vas isn't the only source of damage so it really is fun to play different strategies with the same faction DA were surprisingly good and fun as well, but their characters lacking. Asmodai is straight up bad, Az is okay, others were very good (Baraq and Sarq combo is amazing). Also was surprised to see how much damage they can tank. Would love to see how they perform with all 5 characters
Entered with 22hrs left because i took a break from the games I steamrolled 100% winrate with the WAAAGH! Reached 150 and got the scroll For Gork and Mork
Faction War was the best TA I've had. I played Aeldari. I mainly fought orks, only lost to them on smaller maps and going 2nd, and I have to say the Danger Zone isn't that useful. It shows the max range of their ranged attacks, and trading overwatch with Calandis/Morgan Ra to Snappa's/Gulgortz's ranged attack is usually worthwhile, especially if you got a power up out of it which will absorb their shot. The big thing you needed to watch out for was Gulgortz's Waaaagh which meant you needed to watch to make sure you weren't in range of that, but being 1 or 2 into the danger zone was sometimes necessary, as you sort of needed to move up and secure power ups to make the most of your maneuverability and damage. And honestly I'd like it if the points to the final chest stayed at 150 across the board, even if it meant they got rid of redemption as a whole.
This was the best TA of all time. I hope they keep this model. Personally, too many are sleeping on thr Thousand Sons. The summons are fantastic, Yaz leads to string positioning, and Toth + Thau's shield tank a ton of damage. Sandy boys for the win.
My favorite TA by far. I played with and against every faction at least once. After some experimenting I stuck with Orks, Dark Angels and World Eaters. Orks were definitely among the stronger factions, but not OP like some people might believe. In the future I hope we can get a format where every character is a “borrowed character”. It was fun to play as Kharn for example, but I was stuck in common. Same for characters that I owned but hadn’t levelled. I wanted to try Ultramarines because of Calgar but didn’t because my Titus was Iron 1
Same here, this TA was a blast. Played with the orks till I reached 150, then played a bunch of games with other factions. In regular TA I play till I’m 250 and automatically stop, and it’s a lot more stressful. I really enjoyed it this time around. Some factions need to have a bit more punch though. But I have the feeling that if you know how to play the faction well, strengths weaknesses and so on, most of them can put up a good fight. Definitely hoping they make faction TAs more prevalent than the other modes.
first TA i played that didnt make me want to quit the game. Def should keep it at 150 or even 100 as after I got the final crate I carried on and tried diff teams
Excited to see this format in future videos, tips from the top of the TA leaderboard are always appreciated since the gamemode really can be challenging and stressful! Great job, Nox 👌 WAAAGH on, Boyz!
One thing about Danger Zone versus the Orks is that it does NOT show the bonus movement from WAAAGH, so you have to be extra careful to not get bombrushed out of nowhere!
@@noxtempest It works with movement buffs from Makhotep or Corrodius, but does not with Actives, the danger zone in the video was so big because both Snappa and Gulgortz have 6 effective danger range (3 movement and 3 range on their attacks)
I only have Astra Militarum, Orks and Space Wolves as full faction, and only the latter 2 at Bronze 1. I thought I would end up playing the wolves to counter Aeldari/Tau OW and 1kSons summons, but gave the Orks a shot first... and kept playing them for the whole tournament. They are SO MUCH FUN! Combining with the lower threshold for the rewards, this TA ended up being really fun, as it should be!
I honestly loved this iteration of the Tournament Arena. It was already my favourite game mode, but this made it even better. I did try pretty mucn every faction in casual mode and it was a lot of fun to play with the different teams. But for the competitive I exclusively used the Necrons at Uncommon. And honestly, they didn't seem as bad as some content creators seem to suggest. I hadn't played with the Necron leader character before (I unlocked him just before the start of this tournament) and the Necron Warriors seem especially good. A big part of playing with them is determining when to summon the Necron Warriors. Too early and you get too few and the enemy can kill them easily, too late and they don't get more than one round before the last character get taken down.
First time I could achieve the final chest reward and the first time the TA didn’t feel like a chore. It was a blessing that redemption mode didn’t work. Less fights and I could use my ad rerolls on the shop instead. The tighter rewards chain was the best about this TA. You didn’t feel like a noob player and actually felt, you could do something even if you don’t own a lot of heroes. They should remove redemption pool forever and leave the rewards this way. Also: No more meta decks with Rev’As and Calandis in one team in every 8 out of 10 matches! That’s the worst about the previous TA. You can run common rarity as a new player and are stomped by meta teams constantly because even the top players rather farm noobs in common rarity than wasting too mch time in this game mode that just takes too long to reach the final reward. What I didn’t like though: 1. Mirror matches just feel wrong in a format called “Faction War”. 2. Orcs were omnipresent because they are just too good now with too many summons on the board. 3. Lots of teams are just not competitive, like Adeptus Sororitas or Necrons. 4. Still no fan of power-ups. Feels wrong in a WH 40k game. 5. Still maps often favor one player because he can reach more power-ups right away.
Hey Nox ! Swamplord here, I finished 3rd in this TA. I am a huge fan of Orks, all of them D3 blue star and most abilities at lvl 50 (7/10). I obviously have been enjoying this TA a lot. I lost 1 game against another Ork (Mazlowsga) and 1 game against a Tau.
@PierreChabardes Haha, yes I remember that match, but in the end i lost one more game than you. Played orcs all the time and lost 2 times against orcs and once against tau. GG and that TA was fun!
Definitely more fun than it has been in awhile, but I was a bit ork fatigued by the end of it. Hopefully more players lean into counter metas to Ork Howl, so I don't play 16/27 matches against the same faction...
Thx for the video, I played dark angels as I had +2pts for each battle, and was surprised how well baraqiel tanked dmg and the plasma weapon combos were pretty decent. Again. I found myself only playing DA because of early success with them and didn't really try orks.
I really enjoyed this TA, the best by far for a long time. I played Orks at Elite until I got the 150pts then switched to Black Templars at Rare for variety. I think one of the reasons we saw so many Ork players is that they’re one of the more likely factions to have a full team set for elite play because you need to level all the Orks up equally really to do well in the Octarius Elite campaign. I think for most other factions most players will have one character who just never got developed so the team is limited at higher TA levels. It will be interesting to see how players change their development focus to allow wider faction choice in FTA.
I played Black Templars all the way. Godswyl with a hit or damage buff (and the extra hit from Thoread nearby) is brutal. I never lost to Orks, but I had a lot of trouble against World Eaters. Putting Angrax with them was a bit much since it gave them 2 terminators. The termie buff added a lot to their survivability.
I used orks myself only lost twice 1nce against black templars and 1nce against death guard (admittedly the death guard loss was a silly mistake on my behalf mixed with a gd death guard player)
I only played epic DA as the DA junkie i am :) i managed to get the last chest due to the 150, i guess my TA playstyle isn't really optimized for them :)
I liked this mode of tournament very much too. Played Black Legion at epic lvl, got 388 points. 90% of my losts were to orks( too powaful afta rewOrks...
main tau and was great to see variety of factions in this game mode. only came 62 but know was due to my error rather than unbeatable odds. great tips against orks :)
I was lucky I had Helbrecht. I saw 9/10 matches against Orks and won the majority of my bouts using Black Templars at rare and epic. Occasionally they’d have a good second turn and table me if I was being too careful. Orks really is da best.
i hope SP comes out with some stats on how each faction did, how many times each faction was taken into battle, and how they matched vs each other faction I played eldar and lost to orcs many times, i'll get getting them up to G1 for the next TA for sure. Finished just shy of rank 100 and most losses were vs orcs
I'm sure Swamplord has a full D3 ork lineup, they've had it for ages, come across them a few times in the normal arena. I used Aeldari, very squishy, but fun
This was a bandaid for TA that needs permanent changes. Final chest threshold going from 250 to 150 was great, but it was happy accident. +1/+2 bonus for roster ownership is a great idea and was intentional, but how do you factor this bonus into other TA modes? Finally, they need to revise Common so that everyone is capped both down AND up. New players queueing in Common actually get penalized if they own and play with character they haven't taken to Iron 1 and 8/8. New players aren't realizing this and just chalking it up to TA sucking and/or being too hard for them.
@@noxtempest It will be interesting to see the reaction in 10 days or so when the next TA comes around. Because historically infested has 1)250 point chest 2) no bonus points for owning characters and no mechanic to borrow them and 3) double howl cancer.
Just need to say they were over buffed. Specially with get stuck in and maybe some stats like on snotflogga. Edit: No doubt the best thing in the game, this TA mode. Got a frenzied win streak with BTemplars until Orks got me down.

For me it was necrons
I really liked that model. Plus for players who doesn't own all characters it was a way to try out new characters and factions
This was by far my favourite iteration of TA. I hope the faction wars are reoccurring!
Same! First time I’ve enjoyed (and finished) TA run
This mode was such an enhancement. I hope SP continue to develop in this area and listen to the community feedback.

I called out the BT before the TA saying they would be a dark horse. I'm really glad they worked for you
The world eater armour really works against the orks. Though I'd have giver Macer the extra health ss it really boosts his mechanics

Best TA yet. Buhbye, meta roflstomps ij common tier
Thank you for this review.
A question if I may: What is your Guild called?
My guild is Urdrakule of Erioch
I got 9th, and had a lot of fun with orks. Lost a mirror, to DG and to Tau, if I recall correctly
Loved the TA Faction style ! but the amount of ork players was boring af.
Unfortunately there will always be a meta of what is considered best and will be played the most
Probably the faction most player had complete and leveled up before the tournament.
I enjoyed playing with characters I'll not own any time soon.
Nelshirai is a nice dude :D
He is indeed
a ended up as position 18. used death guard. even if they have characters that need rework
Amazing work
Just need to say they were over buffed. Specially with get stuck in and maybe some stats like on snotflogga.
Edit: No doubt the best thing in the game, this TA mode.
Got a frenzied win streak with BTemplars until Orks got me down.
I thought this would break up the meta but no it just changed the meta
