It's horrifying that David would have seemed like a sweet old man if no one had known about this. I wish you all the best of luck in the future.
@joeb7975, I'm not saying he don't look good. He does But, just pointing out that the vast majority of us will not look like that without surgery Setting realistic expectation
Imagine being married for any amount of time let alone 40 years and your husband is trying to have relations with a 15 year old. Imagine it's your father! The scary part is he looks like a kind old grandfather you could let little kids be around. Listen how he talks. Scary!
If you are 70 and looking for a sexual encounter doesn’t it make sense to seek someone of legal age??? Is it that much more titillating if she is underage? For 15 minutes of action you are destroying the rest of your life…these people are not of sound minds!
And the age of consent in Alabama is 16. So if the decoy's birthday was the next day, then 1 day could be the difference between being an "evil predator ruining a young girl's life" versus being perfectly legal consensual relationship.
I was thinking when they are already cuffed how insane it is that they are talking. Were they read their rights when cuffed before talking to Chris? Or is it all in-admissible in court? These Hansen stings get more and more sketchy. I mean its great they are busting predators but the logistics should probably be more well explained. Either way its hilarious that Chris offered him a cookie. I hope they were home baked.
@@carlwinslo It's an interesting situation because the guy is obviously at least detained (the rules change based on whether it's a "consensual interaction," a detainment, or an arrest) but also Chris isn't law enforcement, so he's absolutely allowed to question the guy without Mirandizing him and that should all be 100% admissible in court. I don't know if the fact that he's working directly with the police and interviewing a detained suspect changes anything, but I would suspect it wouldn't as he's essentially an investigative journalist doing his own information gathering. Regardless, it's possible (and I'd argue reasonably likely) they could have Mirandized him off-camera just to cover all their bases. Given that Chris is working directly with the police, I'd assume they're doing things by the books and that they're helping them make sure things don't get screwed up.
@@carlwinslo they are under arrest. They are read their rights. There have been people who have refused to answer questions. They’ve said “I’ve already told the detectives stuff” , “I don’t want to answer your questions”. Most people that don’t know Chris assume he’s a detective. If you just got arrested and a man with a suit starts asking questions it’s easy to think he’s a detective
I worked at WCFT Channel 33 in Tuscaloosa. I was the morning meteorologist, and then workrd as a photog after the morning news. Alabama jails are a living nightmare. I wouldn't last 10 minutes in there. I hated being anywhere near those jails, because you could hear screaming occasionally and it was bone-chilling. Even court was awful, as it was intolerably hot (especially to me being used to air conditioning from birth.) This fool is powdered toast when he hits population.
"I love how Chris Hansen is still respectful to these people and still treats them like human-beings. Very lawful on his part 👍." Agreed. Maybe Alex, Tommy, Scrappy, etc. could learn a few things here...
“You want a cookie?” is a historic first in Chris Hansen lore. Normally it’s the decoy offering the predator something to eat. This is the first time Chris has offered them a treat directly.
probably unpopular but i found chris way too sympathetic to this guy just cuz he was a smooth talker. There's other predators (even though they're all awful) who were more honest than this guy and chris was much harder with them
I get what you're saying but his job in these is supposed to be that of a journalist. To ask questions and try to get to the root cause and psychology behind their actions. The punishment is supposed to be done by the cops and justice system. I do agree that he was a bit softer here than usual but he also has to walk a fine line just like an interrogator if he wants the suspect to actually open up and talk. If not yeah he could express how disgusted and horrible of a person the suspect is but that would probably just cause the suspect to not want to talk whereas if he pretends to be more sympathetic and understanding, the suspect will be more willing to talk.
Chris, thank you for protecting our children as well as all the law enforcement officers. Fortunately, you won't be able to retire because of these predators unless you pass the torch to someone who has the same integrity as you. ❤❤❤
For everything it’s gonna cost this guy in the divorce, he could have left his wife and moved to Thailand and got a young girlfriend legally. The marriage seemed over anyway.
I think Chris liked this guy personally, saying "I'm sorry we had to meet under these circumstances",he probably saw in him someone he could connect with. Goes to show anybody on this planet could be doing this, even those you love the most, and that's why we should have some form of empathy for these people, because first and foremost this is a disease, and we should focus on prevention, rather than harsh sentences.

NO compassion for a filthy old man about to ruin a “15” year olds life!

Chris’ biggest fear is someone sitting down and saying “I’m not talking, I want my lawyer”
This deprives them of their dramatic interview
Easy he just doesn’t make a video
I was thinking when they are already cuffed how insane it is that they are talking. Were they read their rights when cuffed before talking to Chris? Or is it all in-admissible in court? These Hansen stings get more and more sketchy. I mean its great they are busting predators but the logistics should probably be more well explained. Either way its hilarious that Chris offered him a cookie. I hope they were home baked.
@@carlwinslo I was hoping for him to take the cookie. Curious to what kind were offered

I love how Chris Hansen is still respectful to these people and still treats them like human-beings. Very lawful on his part 👍.

Chris: "I'm sorry we had to meet under these circumstances... because I really could have used a new car"
“You want a cookie?” is a historic first in Chris Hansen lore. Normally it’s the decoy offering the predator something to eat. This is the first time Chris has offered them a treat directly.
With a new twist: He offered it at the end.

This guy is just sorry for himself in the end. Not only once did he question his actions. Just the usual predator bs but in a more polite way…
Yep, like I previously mentioned, all the ones who apologize to Chris are actually only saying they're sorry they got caught.
probably unpopular but i found chris way too sympathetic to this guy just cuz he was a smooth talker. There's other predators (even though they're all awful) who were more honest than this guy and chris was much harder with them
I agree with you on everything you're saying!
Perhaps this is how Chris would’ve spoken to the doctor that showed up in the Petaluma sting
Likability matters, for some reason, in justice.
It doesn't matter what Chris thinks reserve your judgement for the prosecutor and Judge.
More content from my man Chris is ALWAYS appreciated and approved. Thank you wholeheartedly for what you do!
