OMGosh how funny! I googled a question about Set Lists and your video came up! And of course I just used your Wayward Son Pack tonight! I have a question for ya - will email you tomorrow! Thanks for being so great Dave!
I just bought a second hand Kronos. I like it very much! I just watched your 3 videos about your 80s 90s patches. It looks like Synthonia sell them. I will inquire and order. Knowing each song, if trying to emulate the original band, it requires many keyboard sounds. With Kronos and my old Korg Triton Extreme, plus your patches, I may not need any other synth instruments (other than MIDI controllers). Definitely knowing how to program and step through the set-list is a MUST to quickly and precisely (timely) change voices. Your tutor certainly helps me very much. Many thanks!
hg n I am in no way affiliated with Synthonia. My sound packs which offer something different and generally more accurate sounding too the album are found at www.audora.ca Go there for the 80's/90's sound pack :-)
Very useful thank you! Do you have any videos that explain how to set up the channel outputs? Eg sending all pads to L/R and other sounds to 1-2? We do this for the FOH at church. In terms of rehearsing at home though I’m finding I can’t hear channel 1-2 in the headphone jack so I’m losing half my layers.
I really hope Korg comes back with a flip up screen like they provided on the Oasys. Not very intuitive having to work on a screen like the Kronos has. Especially when your doing really deep editing.
Oh, I agree. Hell, even an externally-connectable monitor would be great. I love the Kronos for it's programming ability but being hunched over that screen for long periods of time is a very literal pain in the neck!
Hi Dave, How do I adjust and save an eq for a single specific slot in setlist without it affecting all the others? I was able to adjust volume for each slot by going to control surface and adjusting the master volume. Then I "updated combi" from the drop down. But this only seemed to affect volume and not eq. What am I missing?
Thanks for another very nice tutorial and I happen to be learning that same song for a show, haha! I am aware you uploaded a video of sampling but could you please upload a video of sampling the Liquid Lead from the Kurzweil to the Kronos? I have a couple of them on the Kronos and they do sound very good, but the original Kurzweil one sounds better than a recreation on the Kronos in my opinion.
exsequor699 That will be a bit tougher, since the Liquid T Lead isn't sampled, it's programmed. Ripping the samples from the Kurzweil won't help... it would need to be built basically to get the same tonality. That said I'm down for a challenge, so I might see what happens and record it.
Do you erase the slots replacing with new song content when you need to learn a new song? Or do you save this set for Wayward Son later to use on other future gigs somewhere to remember what you did and use latter? Is it possible to save set lists like, strings set, cool organs set, demo songs set, etc.? That would give you 125 sets for each unique use...
Hello when i have made a song on the internal seaqencer how do i save that to setlist? i have try but failure. thanks. by the way very good video this one. you go maybe a little fast on to show, so try slow down a little.
Hi Ivar, When in the sequencer mode on the main page where you mix levels, you can press the dropdown menu on the top right and choose "Add to Setlist" which will put the sequence/song into the setlist mode.
sandaru weerasekara You'll have to be more specific: there are a few different types of pedals that can be used with the Kronos, and after the basic description of how I use the pedal for advancing the sounds, there's not much really left to explain. Could you narrow it down better for me?
Set List is the greatest idea EVER, in theory, "on paper," whatever, but Darn it, Dave, or anybody: How do you keep EVERYTHING from being moved around when you just want to save a combi to a given slot? i start the Kronos the next day & have 3 identical slots & a couple others have vanished! I guess I don't have the commands mastered as far as placing combis in slots. DUH.. after all this time!
Hi! I have a question about whether o not can save changes that are made in each slot in Setlist, beacause when I put " Write set List" changes are not saved! Thanks!
Well, what changes are you trying to make? In general you should see the changes right away and "Write Set List" saves it for the next time you exit that mode and go back in. Unless you're loading a PCG that overwrites what you had, it should be staying where it is!
The changes that I try to save are the facts with the parameters " Control Surface" in "Tone Adj." and "Timbre" ( to the latter I are using it to regulate the volume of that sound with respect to the others). Thanks!
Ahhh - I see. Tone Adjust will have no affect even saving the changes - they're temporary. When you make changes to things like the Timbre, if it's a Combi, you have to manipulate the Combi or Program itself. See, the changes you're making (while they affect the sound) are only part of the temporary control that the setlist provides. If you want changes like those to stick, you have to get a little deeper into the combi or program itself and make the changes for those to keep.
Really, any pen with a 'not too sharp' point is fine, but I've been using the pen from the Wii U which has a touch screen that works in a similar way to the Kronos.
Those specific sounds were sounds that I just happened to be using for a show, but some of them were just presets in the Kronos. The sounds that I have finished that are for sale are all available at www.audora.ca - take a look! If you have any custom requests, I can accommodate those there too!
Not exactly. I jump through so many sounds and many times I don't have time to take my hands off of the keyboard so I use the foot pedal to increment through sounds. Additionally many of the sounds have too many layers to support karma scene switching so need to be broken up. Finally, who is it more efficient for? It takes me less time to put together multiple layers than trying to fit everything into scenes and control the muting and figuring out if the layers fit. Sorry, but you're not correct here. It's another way of doing things, and this is meant for live play so you don't need to take your hands off of the keys while playing to change sounds.
That was a lot of work, well done. I know you need to Save Set List when you have created what you want. I want to save backing tracks I have created. I go to DISK, pull down menu to SAVE ALL and save it to a file name like "Gig Set List". Then turn off the Kronos. Upon start up the SET LIST is created ok, but the sequenced songs are no longer linked. Can you help? Thanks in advance. csobott@mac.com
Brilliant video(s). Just got a Kronos2 and your video(s) are very, very useful. Thank you.
just bought a kronos, and i like the setlist mode. Would be also cool if you could upload pictures inside the comments. Notes for example.

nice one really good video just the Kronos and love the idea for the notes. brill for depping gigs.

We'll you don't. The EQ in setlist mode is editing the entire setlist. If you want to edit individual EQ, you need to edit it at the combi level.
@@AudoraAudio Thank you. That helps!

Nevermind I see you can have many set list each 125 limit.
Thanks Dave😀

Thanks for your reply , yes i should had figure out that . ok i learn now. thanks again. ps good videos you make.
is that pen specifically used for touching purpose for the kronos or is it a normal pen?
Actually, it's just a pen for the Nintendo Wii U. I got it as part of a pack at some point, and I've just decided to use it on the Kronos.
Great video, could you zoom in a little bit more next time so we have a better view
Definitely can! I've been working on a more useful setup for doing videos that get things closer with a higher quality camera
can you teach us about process of foot pedal and how its work with kronos .
sandaru weerasekara You'll have to be more specific: there are a few different types of pedals that can be used with the Kronos, and after the basic description of how I use the pedal for advancing the sounds, there's not much really left to explain. Could you narrow it down better for me?
David Champagne : I was asked for how can we connect that pedal to kronos and how we set up kronos setting for that ..
sandaru weerasekara I'm still not sure I understand your question. I explained in the video how to set up the pedal increment.

how can we erase programs, combis and setlists that we don't use anymore?

Ahh ok, now I understand, thank you very much for answering my doubts!!!
No problem Laura - I'm happy to help!
What king of pen is that? Is that a good one to use. I've been using my finger.
Really, any pen with a 'not too sharp' point is fine, but I've been using the pen from the Wii U which has a touch screen that works in a similar way to the Kronos.
Korg calls those "blocks" "slots".
Do you have these sounds for sale
Those specific sounds were sounds that I just happened to be using for a show, but some of them were just presets in the Kronos. The sounds that I have finished that are for sale are all available at www.audora.ca - take a look! If you have any custom requests, I can accommodate those there too!
its more efficient working with the Karma scene.. you dont need to add many sounds in the setlist for one song..
Not exactly. I jump through so many sounds and many times I don't have time to take my hands off of the keyboard so I use the foot pedal to increment through sounds.
