On one of my birthdays either 16 or 17 my aunt offered to host my party and my Mom agreed because the apartment we lived in at the time was to small and so she said we could have it at her place so we started planning my birthday party but my aunt also wanted it to be a Valentine's day party so my other aunts asked if they could get any decorations and My Mom and I agreed to have their help and Mom and I got the cake, extra chairs for seating and got all other things handled. I never had people show till I was in High school and it was only one person my best friend and he still sticks by me and me stick by him. With how quiet I was and always read a book no one tried to know me only he did and he learned we had a lot in common and he hated people assumed they didn't like me without getting to know me.

Lucky me my birthday was always on or near Spring Break so very few of my friends were able to come to my birthday parties because their families always went away on vacation somewhere, so that was more on the parents than my friends. It always made me mad and yes I did blame my parents asking why they had me at the "wrong time" This is my favorite song and I love that she sampled It's My Party by Lesley Gore which is another favorite of mine.
