Lol. Now that would be a real SKILL. 😉 It is neat to have a hot shower every day and it feels better not to run the pump too hard or waste hot water. My wife is getting sick of me calling out to the Echo. 😬

I've used wall receptacle switches since I retired in 2017...been able to use the voice commands too but I soon found I had to relabel devices simply for the easiest usage and that means anyone can command my devices which is not acceptable to me, it's just not very secure or smart IMHO. I've used the app with my switches for home control while I'm out of town, to control seasonal changes in my home, or about anything imaginable. But without some form of security anyone's voice can undo or do anything my voice does, so I've stayed clear of voice...Besides it's faster and less problematic to just press a button in the app rather than trying to recall the names of appliances, plugs, or locations. Sometimes using voice is more of a hassle than than it's worth...just pushing a button or programming a scenario takes all the miss pronounced words and erroneous guessing of the many listening devices out of the picture. Besides, it's not easy getting old with bridges and dentures to say words google or Amazon understand the same twice!

I used to have to get on my hands and knees to plug in the Christmas tree every year. Now I can ask Alexa to do it. Sure anyone can turn on my Christmas tree but we can all use a little cheer, so I am okay with it. I do not consider it a security risk that someone can turn on my fan, run 4 minutes of HOT water or turn on my outside lights but I know what you are saying. When my kids were little, we stayed at an AirBnB and the neighbors had an Alexa. It was so new that they were talking to it incessantly. When they left for the beach my kids called out and set an alarm for 3 o'clock. Somehow it got confused and went off at 3am, but it was next-door so I thought it was funny.
