Hey, i'm no professional but I suggest you start writing songs - it's alright if they aren't great at first, but you'll need the practice. It helps to have very basic piano/guitar and music theory skills. For sound production, I heard you can set up a home studio without too much expense, but first do some research into different sound production softwares (GarageBand, Ableton, FL Studio, etc.) and figure which would be good to start with and learn.
