The fact that Mumei chose to cover Stellar Stellar, arguably Suisei's most vocally challenging song, and absolutely slayed it just shows how much Mumei has come as a singer since debut! T^T 👏👏👏
This isn't to say that Stellar Stellar isn't a challenging song, it is! But I wouldn't place it even in the top 5 of Suisei's most vocally difficult songs. Stellar Stellar's the type of song where, as long as it's in your range (which isn't _too_ high), you can sing it with just some normal amounts of practice. There are some neat tricks that went into the composition of the melody that sound very impressive and challenging, but are constructed in a way that makes it easier to sing than you might expect One of the biggest ones that I can point out is that Stellar Stellar features a _ton_ of parts that start high, and then descends in tone (for example the opening). This is much easier to do than trying to sing the opposite, but sound equally impressive since you're singing the same notes, just in a different order. As long as you can hit that first note, it's simple to descend from there, whereas in the other direction you have to reach a new peak with every note.

Almost two years later, Stellar Stellar remains one of the strongest hololive songs and this is a lovely rendition of it. I can imagine listening to Mumei's version as you go to bed, reminding yourself that you are the hero of your own story. Great job and congratulations Mumei~

I find this take on Stellar Stellar highlights Mumei’s strengths. Her voice does not project as much power as Suisei’s, but she makes up for it with her soft deliveries at the end of the pitches up. Also, Mumei, your enunciation is amazing. Your trills too. I kinda wish the music had been mixed a little lower in volume, cuz it did feel like it drowned out your voice at points, but maybe that’s the point, for the music to be bombastic. Either way, another job well done. I’m looking forward to your new original.
It's a bit hard to notice if you're not keyed in to pay attention to it, but 8-Bit Drummer pointed it out immediately when he played this song: the drums go *absolutely nuts* on this track a lot of the time. I think that's what gives the impression of Moom's voice being overpowered a little bit. Ideally, she would pair her gentler, purer voice with a slightly less frantic arrangement, but given that this cover was kinda thrown together last minute, it's completely understandable that every tiny aspect of it couldn't be tweaked to perfection. Even still, it sounded great. I've been falling in love with Mumei lately, her voice in this cover is downright enchanting. Ethereal, goddess-like.
The version Suisei sang on the first take would have been perfect for Mumei's vocals, it plays right into her strengths. This is definitely still great though.
My thought as well. LOVE the singing and general arrangement but the mix feels a little off and Moom's voice definitely gets lost in the production here. I don't know what the likelihood is of a second cut of this with a toned own mix, but I'd love to hear this version in way that really shows off how amazing Mumei's voice is

I really like this. It's a bit softer and sweeter than Suisei's version, more joyful than forceful. To put it metaphorically, in the context of the song's message, it feels like Suisei's version captures the powerful emotion of having a personal revelation in the moment, and Mumei's captures the nostalgic contentment of looking back on that revelation and knowing how it changed you for the better. Of course, nobody can replace Suisei, but this is a worthy complement, and worth listening to even in a world where the original exists.

No this actually perfectly captures it. Half a year ago, the day suisei was on the first take, was the same day I got laid off my job. And I remember listening to stellar stellar that day and literally bawling my eyes out. Like that feeling, how she sang it, you are exactly right. And now, where I am in my life, is much like how mumei sang this song. If that didn’t happen to me then, I wouldn’t be this happy now :)
