  • A short video highlighting the 5 "secrets" which enable realistic operation of live steam on a G scale layout. Not so secret now!
    Shot at the 2018 National Garden Railway show organised by the Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers. Hambleden Valley won the Best Layout competition at this show.
    Steve Howard who built it has told me that he no longer uses a magnet fixed to the choppers, as described in his article in "Railway Modeller" and mentioned in the video. He now uses a piece of steel wire (fine welding rod) instead.
    I haven't attempted to edit the sound - you will hear all the extraneous noises of a busy model railway show, but the sound of the locos rises above all that!
