This was my favorite mall in the Denver area! They had all the shoe stores! And even a mom and pop store with the rare releases! Thank you Lord for those memories!
Thank you for preserving my childhood! Grab some Chick-fil-A samples, maybe cinnamon sugar What Knots pretzel or a Cinnabon after watching them be prepared by hand, and then an Orange Julius and sit by the balloons and fountains for a moment of peace (before mobile phones) with the sound of the water and the shoppers all around you.
Very surreal to see the mall empty. This was the first mall that I visited after moving to Denver in the late 70s. It was always packed with people. That was back when the mall when the mall was the place to go. Almost like a mini-date or just to people watch. So sad to see those memories gone.
I was born in 95, so I don’t have too many memories here other than occasional back to school shopping. I’ll always remember these balloons. Honestly teared up watching this.
I miss this mall so much. Id sit there with my grandmother after grabbing some orange julius and would just watch. That and christmas there was a lot of fun
i just remembered this mall and came to look at pictures and videos of it, this is my first time seeing it in something other than a memory. i miss it here. i was mesmerized by those as a kid. so sad to know this is gone
Thank you for sharing this video. I used to frequent this mall, and it is sad that it is gone. The balloons were an interesting feature that I'm not sure any other mall in the US had.
Picture it: you get a cinnabon, maybe stop by the disney store, haha I remember one time throwing a tantrum and a nice lady talking to my Mother and I then giving me a cute lil stuffed dog to shut me up hahaha, my most vivid memory of this mall to this day is in 2006 pretty much sitting in the water watching them up close for what seemed like hours, still remember the design of the floor at 8:41 , there was so many coins in the water shining bright.
When I was about four or five accidentally dropped my toy dinosaur in the water. It was a super busy night and my dad jumped over and ran through to get my toy back. This was probably 93 or 94. Oh the memories..
I just searched everywhere I could think of to find out the ultimate fate of these balloons. All I was able to find was an article from the first day of demolition in 2011- "Officials have not decided what will become of the popular model balloons that dangled above shoppers inside the mall..." the City of Westminster bought the property to raze and redevelop, so it was up to them. I wonder if the balloons are in a City building? They were installed- and by the looks of them- not replaced since 1977, so it's possible they deteriorated upon removal and were unusable.

As a young boy I recall an Orange Julius in this same court, many memories of Westminster Mall!
I remember sitting on the steps for an hour just watching the balloons as a kid
As a child i would sit there for hours watching thank you for bring this memorie back
Thank you for saving this. Grew up near the mall and showing my fiancée who grew up in Steamboat. This was an important part of my childhood.
There was something so peaceful watching those balloons 😢 good memories.
Ill miss this mall : (

One of the most glorified things of my childhood. I’m 35 and came to this mall sometimes when I visited my grandparents in Denver.
Thanks for the vid. Oh the memories that brought back. Miss that mall.

This was my favorite place to go in the mall as a kid in the early 90s. We always got a pretzel and watched the balloons! Best years of my life!
