I have to laugh. I just bought the F4 friggin yesterday, about 24 hour ago actually. Now out of the blue your video came up. In Canada the f2.8 version is $3300 and the F4 is $1900 as of June 12 2023. You save $1400 dollars. This 70-200 F4 is about the same size of my 24-105mm f4. I think with these new Cameras coming out F4 is good for most of your work. My R6 mark2 can handle hi ISO like 16000- 25,000 so F4 works like a F2.8 on a DSLR. Thanks for the video.
Dang, I feel bad for you Canadians. Those price are terrible. I got an R5 so I try to stay below 6400 ISO. It could handle more but no need really. I agree you really don't need the 2.8 for the 70-200 range when you can bump the ISO. If you really need to blow out a background I think it is better to use a prime lens anyway. Something like a 85mm 1.8 or 1.4. I actually just bought the EF100mm macro for scanning film and that thing would make a good portrait lens too.
I'm gonna disagree about handling the that high iso. At that high iso - dynamic range at 25600 is almost half of iso 400 (photons to photos). For me anyway where my subjects with be martial artists wearing black and not blowing out the background.
I have been going back and fourth and stressing over this decision for weeks. I wish I had saw your video weeks ago, you helped me make my decision easily. You are right love love love this lens do not miss 2.8 aperture at all. Thankyou for taking the time to make this video.
Thanks man! I have owned R6 a little over a year… didn’t find out about the f/4 70-200 until last week.. I have been contemplating getting it because currently I am using a Tamron EF G2 70-200 f/2.8..
Thanks for the review, was looking at the sigma 2.8 ,is it just the weight that’s a downer , as over here it’s about 300 bucks cheaper than the f4 canon ,and about 4500 to 5000 for the canon F2.8

F2.8
Just the weight and size really. I think its equally as sharp as the canon.
It's still an L-series lens. Premium.
Thanks for the video.
Hey u still like the f4 is it worthy for r8…?
Still not decided. I like to do non-paid amateur indoor sports/martial arts shooting
I got the F4, I ain't got nobody to impress.
