Just received my woodwind with side grill last week. Setup was easy about 1.5 hours solo. 55F outside and the burning at 350F the temperature swings from 325 to 375F over about 6-8 minutes. Then for the actual cook next day it was about 70F outside and the 250F setpoint would swing about 225 to 275F over about 6-8 minutes. Later turning it to HIgh Smoke (220F) it would smoke when more pellets are fed when it bounces off the low point 225F and then no smoke by time it hits 275F. Not sure if that's what others are seeing but seems like this is just how it works. Food was good and will probably use it over my charcoal grill for smoking. Customer service was very nice when dealing with a lost package too.
So it's been a while, how do like it? The amount of smoke will vary like that on any pellet grill due to the size of the flame as the pellet auger adjust speeds to try to maintain set temperature.
Got my woodwind 24 today sidekick and accessories are on bacl order so have to wait just finished putting it all together not to hard, will do the burn in tomorrow.
I appreciate you doing this video. I was just about to order a Woodwind when Camp Chef introduced the Sidekick option. I was on the fence as to whether I should get it with the Sear Box or with the Sidekick. Your video convinced me to go with the Sidekick + the Grill Box. I just placed my order. I hope the griddle gets hot enough to do an adequate job of searing.
Well the Camp Chef Sidekick has a 30,000 BTU burner and the Sear Box a 16,000 BTU burner. I'm sure it will get hot enough creating that nice sear you are looking for. Thank you for sharing and please share your results.
@@ZackofAllTradesct I'm looking at it and I was sure I was going to get the sear box, but the more I see videos on the sidekick I think that is the better option to go with. You can basically do everything the sear box can and more with just a couple accessories. My only concern with the Camp Chef is to build quality. Otherwise, their new woodwind SG looks to be one of the best bang for the buck pellet smokers on the market.
Id be interested in seeing a Pizza comparison between the Pizza Oven ad the Searbox. I know the pizzza oven has a nice fitting but that searbox can get up to 900 degrees it can legit crust
How about reverse sear tri tip fajitas? That way you can smoke the tri tip and then cook all the fajitas peppers and onions, etc. on the flat top. Just sayin ...
Swiss army knife of grills, for those of you who have alot of temperature fluctuation they sell an insulated cover or make one out of a welding blanket.
Sorry I missed your comment, I don't get emails on every comment. Wonder why. Side Kick gives you a lot of options, the swiss arm knife agreed. Yes they do sell a insulated blankets with magnets and I have one for both the Woodwind and the XXL.
Hi Brian! Great video! I just purchased the Deluxe grill box. I didn't notice any obvious grease management system. How do you deal with the grease? Thanks!
@@pesto12601 The Side Kick does come with the griddle. After having both now for awhile I can say that I would get the Side Kick over the Sear Box. Just so many more options of cooking and you don't have to get the other accessories all at once. Thank you for watching

Sweet, sucks about back order. Enjoy 🍻

I'm in your exact same shoes.
I just ordered the sear box model... wishing I got the sidekick now...lol
They were the same price.

@@JasonTeach I'm loving mine!
I've only used the sear box handful of times, but its great.
I'm cooking all sorts of stuff on it!
Damn....you got the hook-ups bro. Looks like a lot of good food coming your way.
Yea pretty cool, I didn't think it would turn in to what it has. I've been a Camp Chef user for 20 plus years, all kinds of great food. 👨🍳 Thank you
Hey Brian, what are the advantages of the sear box over this? I'm having a hard time deciding between the two.
Sorry I missed your comment/question. The sear box gets a lot hotter, sidekick provides versatility. 🏁
Does the sear box have a grease tray? I have the Deluxe BBQ Grill box and it doesn't have a tray. Drips all over my deck.
@@bradtaggart5211 I think this is a huge design flaw, you're not the 1st person to mention it.
Excellent explanation! Thanks for the demo definitely clarified some things for me I want it all!
Nice to hear, thank you. Yes it really gives you a lot options. 🍻
Are you able to attach that to any grill yes or no please comment back I like the grilli so I can make eggs and bacon please comment back

Not sure the pizza stone can handle 900 degrees.
Great product tour, Brian. What are you going to cook first?? I can’t wait to see the video on that!
Thank you, not sure yet. Any suggestions?

The sidekick should fit on the new Magnum pellet grill right?
They say it fits on 2016 and newer grills.
How come the top of your pellet grill looks all rusted? Isn't it supposed to be stainless steel? 🤷♂️
Not sure 🤔, works just fine though.

It burns off🔥, you will have some flare ups. 😕
@@BrianEibner Thanks!
I got one 36 inches with all accessories, only to bad before Playing it’s said in 4-4 days days delivery 🚚 after I paid 16 days delivered:( scams
Yea, not cool. We want things now, busy ,busy. 🍻🍔🌭🥩🍖🍗🌯🌮🥪🥙🍳🥓🥞😋 enjoy.
So.. why would anyone buy the sear box when you can get the sidekick for the same price?!?!
sidekick does cost more if you want the BBQ grill box as it only comes with the griddle.
Yeah.. good point. Wonder if it is just better to get the grill box and buy a cheap cast iron griddle and pot for it.

@@BrianEibner how hot does the grill box get?
@@davidtruong7317 I believe it's a 30,000 BTU burner, so plenty hot.
