Malachi the Nutcracker was a boxer who became a rapper to avoid jail after a judge made Primo put him in music because Premier came to speak for him at his trial. He lived on Premier block and was down with them but had never really rapped and didn't want to. Still made a classic album.
A mob buddy for those who knows know not even known as group home A mob stands for Andrew’s ave 183rd street Bronx New York off fordham between Sedgwick and concourse you watching premier videos to much you know nada hanged there and have many peeps there you talking about throwing refrigerators off buildings on to cop cars
This had to be one of the best produced album of all time. The beats were INCREDIBLE. If anyone else has these tracks it would've been a CLASSIC ALBUM.
Love group home. Was kicking this when it first came out way back. You should check Bucktown by Smiff n Wesson. Ultimate primo beat is Mass Appeal or Come Clean by Jeru the Damaja.
DJ Premier produced this whole album and said himself this was his best work. Most agree. I would recommend a full album reaction. EVERY track is on point. Peace.
The album is hands down argued as Premos best production. It is said even Jay-Z mentioned if he had a chance he would redo an album only using these very beats from this album.
So funny you pointed out 1986!! Me and my dad talk about 1986 year all the time and I was born in 91.. we say this lyric alot 1986 I finally reached my peak! Tons of songs talk about 86.. I sent my pops the clip of you talking about 86 because we always talk about that ha nice!!!
LIL DAP (FUNNY VOICE) AND MELACHI THE NUTCRACKER..CHECK JERU THE DAMAJA DOWN WITH THE GANGSTARR FOUNDATION, 'THE SUN RISES IN THE EAST' ALBUM..ANOTHER PREEMO CLASSIC ALBUM..
Preemo tells a great story of going to his bail hearing and the judge agreed to release him only if he took him into the studio and start making music. The judge didn't want him to box because he was a violent offender.
Group Home_ Supa Star, Lil Dap was the first one rappin', he from Brooklyn, Melachi the Nutcracker, I believe, is from The Bronx. Yes, their first album was some of Primo's best work. Hood Classic. Real Street music. make you wanna put on the Tim's, army fatigues and Yankee hat!!!
This shit randomly came on my 90s Mix on Spotify and I had heads turning at red lights 💀 DJ premier beats are so simple but otherworldly at the same time
Lil dap my big brother.that was a honor for me that he accepted my beat to rap on it and put it in his new album.Sometimes I learn from his words while we talking on phone from two different side of earth.❤
Such a great album; incredible beats, and what they lack in lyrical dexterity, they make up for in pure rawness. Every song is seriously depressing, they really don't sugarcoat life on the streets!
Yoooooo... this use to be my joint Still got the album and rock wit it some times... lil dap was my dude. Classic vocals Check My three wifes by poor righteous teachers Miss ghetto on the same album too The whole album got classics
I absolutely detest any reaction video. As soon as I seen it was for this track I gave it my undivided attention. I’m 46 years old and I’m telling you this track (along with gang Starr hard to earn) was absolutely the soundtrack for the golden era of the 90s. I’m blessed to have came up in an era when shit was so wild (pre internet/smartphone). I understand and respect that it’s not 25 years ago and my son laughs occasionally telling me some of my shit sounds “dated”. Respectfully I know I’m an old fart but this shit here pioneered and paved the way for SOOOOO many people who got in,got on and kept over saturating the culture with bullshit. Thank God for DJ Premier. Laced EVERY SINGLE PERSON with outrageous beats and I was blessed to meet him in prospect park in 2007. Very intelligent, sincere man and as cool as you’d imagine. Thanks for acknowledging this track. It’s such an important classic and hopefully younger cats understand that life was nothing like it is today and just because the lyrics aren’t too wordy or dripping with fancy wordplay … understand that this was “that shit”. Peace and blessings ✌️
This is a fact!!!!! I've always felt that way. I was blown away by the production. I would put this in repeat, and I don't remember any of the songs, just the beats
Absolutely got to check out Supastar by group home. I would also recommend Volume 10 "Sho Is Hype" and "pistol grip pump"a very slept on West Coast artist
Lil' Dap and Melachi the Nutcracker are Group Home. I think the '86 reference in this song is from Lil' Dap's personal history. Perhaps some of the references are about the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986, part of the "War on Drugs?" I really enjoy your channel, it feels like we're sharing the experience of when I first heard these songs, probably when I was your age. Keep it up, and much respect!
Primo’s production on this album is arguably his best of all time. However, the lyrics weren’t up to par compared to Guru’s, Jeru‘s, Bahamadia’s etc. Dap’s rhymes are dope but Them Nutcracker verses were always too weak for me. The album proves that lyrics are important despite dope beats but because production is so damn good in this case, you can’t help to nod your head through every track.
Google 1988 Hip-Hop albums. 1988 was the year Hip-Hop exploded. It was starting to get more attention and notoriety because of the cable TV explosion and nationally syndicated shows like Yo! MTV Raps and Rap City. A lot of Hip-Hop's most iconic albums came out that year. It was also the year that the west coast emerged as a powerhouse in Hip-Hop which had been dominated by the east coast. The east coast took a back seat to the west coast until 1994 when Nas, Wu-Tang and Biggie stepped on the scene. This was the beginning of what is regarded as the Golden Era in Hip-Hop. Eminem was the last Great Rapper to come out of that era. When the 2000s began the South was beginning to establish itself as the most influential coast in Hip-Hop.
I still have the tape n Cd from 1995 that whole album bang production wise Lil Dap!!🔥🔥 Dj Premier did the whole album one of his best production that and Jeru - Come Clean album That Boom Bap 90 sh#t
1994 95 Was out on Atlantic Ave puttin up Group Home Livin proof stickers everywhere !! Shout out to Nutcracker and LiL Dap till 1993 till infinity !!!
That whole Livin' Proof album is worth reviewing for the production alone. Preemo's most acclaimed work ever!
F.A.C.T.S!! 🎯
Supastar!
💯💯
@@Banner-18 And Suspended in Time
@@djaftermath4313 for sure. Both versions on the album are bangers

Word
One of the best production jobs in hip hop history
I remember my boys around the way finding the instrumentals from this album to flow over. 💯
This had to be one of the best produced album of all time. The beats were INCREDIBLE. If anyone else has these tracks it would've been a CLASSIC ALBUM.
@@thejohnykilroy it IS a classic album? What are you smoking?
Those Inspectah Deck samples are straight 🔥 the whole album is dope
DJ Premier beats are just special. Simply hypnotic... Beethoven, Bach, Amadeus... DJ Premier.
Every hip hop DJ had doubles of this 12" when it dropped. Huge hit back in the day!
The mid-90s had a lot of hits by groups that didn't have longevity. Check out Ground Floor's "One, Two" for another good example.
Lol exactly.
Let's go! Classic jam from a LEGENDARY album! Great reaction as always, my brother. 👍🏽
And yes, Primo production... as good as it gets!
Lil Dap and Melachi the nutcracker. They are part of the Gangstarr foundation which consists of Group Home, Big Shug, Jeru the Damaja
DONT SLEEP ON BIG SUG! Son got bars
Foxxx!!! Bumpy Knuckles!!!??
1986 to 88 was the peak of the crack epidemic, and group home is from Brooklyn nyc.

Album is Living Proof
And Gangstarr - Above the Clouds
Wild like rocc stars who smash🎸's
Love group home. Was kicking this when it first came out way back. You should check Bucktown by Smiff n Wesson. Ultimate primo beat is Mass Appeal or Come Clean by Jeru the Damaja.
Royce Da 5'9" - Boom is up there for me
Rude boy barrel
I love how Lil Dap got so much swag he didn't even have to rhyme sometimes in his lyrics. Me and my boy used to lol
Group Home is from right here in Brooklyn there album has some of Premo's dopest beats from the mid ' 90s.
@ poison slang.. Lil Dap is from BK & The Nutcracker is from the BX.
@@raone8134 Ra One word if he is from The BX I use to see him in bed Stuy alot back in the Early to mid '90s .
Yep Nutcracker is from my hood in the BX. Gangstar used to live in my neighborhood before moving to BK, so their whole crew was BK & BX! 💯
"life as a shorty shouldn't be so rough" comes from Wu-Tang's CREAM
DJ Premier produced this whole album and said himself this was his best work. Most agree. I would recommend a full album reaction. EVERY track is on point.
Peace.
I gotta go out of my way to hear the whole album
There’s two beats on it he didn’t do.
They didn't blow much but one of the groups under primo and guru...I remember cold winters back then.
The album is hands down argued as Premos best production. It is said even Jay-Z mentioned if he had a chance he would redo an album only using these very beats from this album.
I always said if anyone else had these beats, they would've made a classic album. The beats were INCREDIBLE
Do group home Supa star!!! That’s another dope song! 🎶🎶
one of my favourite tracks, u got to give "Mass Appeal" from Gangstar a listen. Classic Premo production
I feel like this album had some of Primo's top best beats he's ever made. Like ever.
You have to React to Group Home's "Super Star". It's one of the most iconic Beats in Hip Hop. It's My Ringtone Right Now. 🤣
This must be my fav track of all time. The beat is just soo dope
Amazing choices as always. Again, CAMP LO - LUCHINI
Classic album. Classic production.
Premier knew exactly what group to sample too lol
New York Hip Hop during the mid 90s was just stupid. Group Home, Screwball, Shadez of Brooklyn. Everybody was spittin' fire.
I agree with Jeff Futrell. You have to do “Superstar.” You won’t be DISAPPOINTED ✌🏾
MELACHI WAS A BOXER, K SOLO OF THE HIT SQUAD TOO..
LIL DAP (FUNNY VOICE) AND MELACHI THE NUTCRACKER..CHECK JERU THE DAMAJA DOWN WITH THE GANGSTARR FOUNDATION, 'THE SUN RISES IN THE EAST' ALBUM..ANOTHER PREEMO CLASSIC ALBUM..

More LIVIN PROOF from 👑 Ahmad!! BIG UPS!!
This shit randomly came on my 90s Mix on Spotify and I had heads turning at red lights 💀 DJ premier beats are so simple but otherworldly at the same time
DJ Premier produced some beats for Jeru The Damaja: "D Original", "Come Clean" & "Mental Stamina" are some nice ones from 1993/1994.
Lil dap my big brother.that was a honor for me that he accepted my beat to rap on it and put it in his new album.Sometimes I learn from his words while we talking on phone from two different side of earth.❤

OMG! Son this song is my shiz nit! I was scrolling and seen this title and was like (Errrrr... Tires) Gotta see this!
Micah is from the BRonx and lil dap from BK
I saw them Live in Basel Switzerland that was a killshot❤❤❤
Such a great album; incredible beats, and what they lack in lyrical dexterity, they make up for in pure rawness. Every song is seriously depressing, they really don't sugarcoat life on the streets!
Premier also produced first two well known Jeru the Damaja albums. (1994 and 1996)
The whole album is a classic, production wise. Dap and Malachi are aight lyrically.
Listen to Sacrifice!!!!! Hard!!!!

You’re absolutely right about 88. Jay. Biggie. Nas. Fat Joe. All mention 88. I was born in 87 btw.

I would say that 86, 92 and 98 are the biggest years in Hip Hop... Definitely 1992. 92 is when Wu-Tang came out and dr. Dre Deep Cover and The Chronic
Late 1980s to the early 1990s was the height of the crack era and all the violence. It was daaangerous in every city.
I’m from Brooklyn bro that when the rap game was on top 80’s and 90’s
that album is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
