    hello im still new to this work and ive worked on soldering ps4/xbox controllers but this is much different. I have a friend who gave away his power surged console from a lighting strike and it has the same problem. blue light for one second and bam turns off. i can open up the console and clean no problem. but i dont have the proper tools like the heat gun and microscope. would it be better for me to just replace the whole motherboard?

    Hey this video is great thank you! Can you explain or show how to measure the caps? I have the same issue but unsure how to read it properly on my multimeter. Thank you!

      You de solder the cap, place it on a double adhesive little piece of tape then measure its capacitance, if your multimeter can do capacitance measurements. You can always measure the voltage on a working PS5 board of the same type.

    This is the 5th video I've seen where the caps on F5701 circuit have caused 2 sec BLOD. Its one of the most common faults. If you are confident to try and fix it yourself I'd go straight to circuit F5701 and check those caps.

    If anyone thinks it can be only one shorted cap, this is not true. I sometimes find two of them shorted or almost shorted. If you have new caps, change all 4 of them. Careful about their voltage.

      What type and size are this caps

    • @Dandan-tg6tj
      @Dandan-tg6tj 2 месяца назад +1

      @@fierakuitali9313 Nobody has any schematics yet. You buy a damaged PS5 of the same type and use the ones in the same position from the donor board.
      Of course you can take the shorted one out then start the thing to be able to measure the voltage then take another one out, measure the capacitance then you know all you need to know to replace it with a new one.

    i would like to say that what is the point of cleaning liquid metal with IPA? do liquid metal dissolve in IPA?

    • @Dandan-tg6tj
      @Dandan-tg6tj 2 месяца назад

      Liquid metal does not adhere to dry cleaning materials. Slightly humid ones perform better. IPA does not cause short-circuit if used (water does).

      There's no way you can do this yourself, You will damage your PS for good.

    If you lift one side of the inductor, you would have gotten to the caps sooner.

      It's easier to lift the mosfet if the mosfet is fine.
