    Flying a plane you built had to be SO rewarding! Congratulations!

    I love these little airplanes. I swapped over to the RV-12 (and ultimately got my license in one) after training in a Warrior. While I loved certain things about the Warrior, procedurally and with regards to its handling, I’ve really grown to appreciate the RV-12 as well. Once you learn how to land it and get used to its quirks, such as the 912 rattling at various power settings, it’s a great little trainer with awesome visibility and predictable handling. The biggest annoyance is that the various sensors are relatively cheap. EGT and CHT are going to fail from time to time…that’s just how it is.

    Fun video. I have 700 hours in RV-12s and could not agree more with Dennis' assessment. Also, that looks like the exact same hangar at Culpepper Airport where I did final assembly and test flying of my RV-3 thirty years ago. Great memories.

    I love that I could hear freeway in your video. I did my flight training and got my PPL at Freeway (W00) in 2020. I’m building an RV12 right now also!!

    Hi Dennis! Great looking RV-12 and some good info. I'm not looking to build, but looking to buy a RV-12is in the near future.

      Hi Scott. Good luck on your search for an RV-12is. They aren't mandatory but Van's list service bulletins www.vansaircraft.com/service-information-and-revisions/ You might want to check against any airplane you are considering. I hope you find your future airplane as fun as I have found mine.

      Hi Scott, good luck. I am also looking for one, but with a 912us engine. I saw 2 912uls listed at FB vans groups.

    "A maximum airspeed in level flight with maximum continuous power (Vh) of not more than 120 knots CAS under standard atmospheric conditions at sea level." If you are not at sea level, at maximum takeoff power, not in level flight, or in anything other than standard atmospheric conditions then the 120 knot limit is a little mushy, but just a little. Unless you are in an LSA glider, then it is a Vne speed.

    I was just wondering what kind of camera you had, takes very good video.

      This video was done with a GoPro Hero 10 mounted to the canopy. My oldest videos were shot with an old Hero 2 which I have been recently using for interior cockpit insets and for tie down mount exterior shots (so far only the June 29th Canadian smoke video).

    Great plane 👌 what is the TBO on the gear reduction box?

    • @denniscrider5631
      @denniscrider5631  2 года назад +1

      The TBO I believe is 2000 hr. I have heard lead can gunk up the gearbox which is why I use high test alcohol free auto gas near home and scavenge 100LL with decalin when fueling away from my home field

    Hi Dennis, I love that Fuse arrangement on your panel. I would like to do exactly the same for my plane. Can you give more details regarding that fuse panel?

    • @denniscrider5631
      @denniscrider5631  2 года назад

      Hi Diesel Dan; The fuses are part of a module supplied by Van's. The plans can be found by searching "RV-12 section 42M". See page 42M-4 in that document.

      @@denniscrider5631 Thanks! I see that it is proprietary to Vans and not available.
