But hey, people seem to be interested about my ban, considering all the dislikes expecting a video actually talking about it. So without further baiting, here’s how I got banned, and feel free to let me know your thoughts on it all. It became a staple of my counter strike persona, and I continued using it into CS2’s release. But 4 days after CS2 replaced CSGO, I was game banned, by “Overwatch”. I didn't find out why until a few weeks later when this reddit post by somethingese sprung up www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/17e5a5p/cs2_reproduceable_high_dpi_vac_ban_bug/ In Somethingese’s post, he stated there was a “bug” going around that caused players to be banned for spinning too fast. And not long after news of this “bug” spread like wildfire, with people cropping up posting their own experiences with it online. Eventually, pretty much everyone knew the “high dpi ban bug”. NOT A BUG Let me back up a bit tho, first of all, this wasn't a bug, it was just one of the many flaws the anti cheat had on release. So to be quite frank, I can’t say for certain, but I’m 98% sure it was CS2s new fully AI Vacnet system. I don’t think I can do any justice on trying to dive deeper into CS2s anti cheat, let alone how it worked on its day 1 release. But I know the AI Vacnet system was the culprit behind the high dpi bans, and I can only infer that’s what got me too. All I can do is speculate, steam support and the cs2 teams e-mail have given me nothing. The inner workings of VACnet are a well kept secret to keep cheaters in the dark, but consequently people like me that never had any intention of cheating are caught in the crossfire. Valve being radio silent about their new anti cheat is what got me banned, which I understand. Only if it actually worked on release. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how many cheaters were plaguing this game soon after launch. The issue with cheat detections like this is you might be able to detect and ban a spinbot fairly quickly, but that cheater absolutely has another account ready to go within a couple minutes. The point I’m trying to make is, you can’t combat cheating with something so idiotically simple without creating waves of false positives and not leaving a dent in the cheater problem, they’ll just stop using spinbot. Magnum Opus It was never a bannable offense in csgo, if it suddenly becomes one in CS2, valve must be obligated to disclose something, even just including macros into their fair play guidelines. Yet they haven’t changed a thing since CS2 dropped, and “Automation” doesn’t count, in fact, I still use macros to this day. I’ll keep it brief with this; I use an afk macro that triggers every 10 seconds to move me in a random direction, to prevent myself from getting kicked for being idle. Why? Cus of my 9 game streak of straight rage hvh lobbies. I still use a macro that spams spacebar for me to try to hit bhops easier, even though it doesn’t really work and I can’t hit more than 2-3 in a row, the point still stands, I didn’t get banned for using a macro. So what gives, why aren’t I unbanned yet? Honestly I don’t know, this is what’s been preventing me from really speaking out about this. What am I supposed to do next? What am I supposed say? If I didn’t cheat I would’ve been unbanned by now, but I’m not. Is it because I used a macro to trigger the bug? Doubt it since again, I still use macros to this day, and unless I’m going to be bundled up in some large cheater ban wave somewhere down the line, I am confident it wasn’t for that. I should also mention that my first ever account was actually VAC banned in csgo, six years ago, when I was 14. I thought this might influence something, but definitely not to this degree, I had less than 50 hours in the game and got banned only a month after owning my very first computer. I’d like to chalk that up to me being a stupid kid, regardless though, that shouldn’t affect anything to do with the account I played csgo on. The only option I have now is to make this public and hope enough people can bring valves attention to this. I know people won’t believe me, and that’s fine, I know I can’t satisfy the mental gymnastics people will go through, I know, but the way this video performed really gave me the confidence to finally do something about it, so here’s to hoping.
